We're back, ladies and gentlemen. Now one of yinz need to make one of those "we're x of course we" videos about the iwc for tiktok. When they hire me, I’m making The Rock the champ for all of 2024 even beating Cody at Summerslam. That’s how you finish dashtory.

I'm starting to buy in to the theory that this was all a power struggle between The Rock and Triple H and Cody Rhodes got caught in the middle. It makes the most sense in my mind.
Triple H has been planning this story as head of creative for what? Two years almost? Then in January around the Day 1 Raw episode, The Rock walks in and says "I want Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania."
Triple H says "haha ok buddy." then after The Rock says "I'm serious." Triple H goes "fuck outta here."
Fast forward a few weeks and The Rock is now on the board and more Vince shit drops and Triple H decides to stand firm on his plans. The Rock convinces people above Triple H to run with it because it'll distract from the Vince news and give The Rock what he wants. Now we're here.
The Rock looks like an asshole but could not care less, Triple H plays dumb because what else is he gonna do, and Cody just has to eat it while hoping the fans are loud enough to make someone change their mind.

Oh, so we're back to The Rock being an asshole? Okay. Let me go finish shoveling my driveway and I'll get good and worked up watching the guy next door blow his snow onto my already cleared driveway and I'll be back.

It's the double turn!
I love the idea of HHH pulling a Shawn overselling because he's mad at the result. Bring me ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL the backstage politics. Rock always heralded as the most selfless worker, well he's cashing in his CHIPS. The power struggle. Dude just turn this into a what if series right now.

The thing is though, I don’t think he is doing it on purpose. I think he genuinely believes he is doing right by the company. And maybe he is! When has WWE ever chosen the fans happiness over profits? It’s worked for them so far!

Still believe this was all done to bury the Vince story. Handing out signs with a hashtag should have given it away.
But HHH def is not gonna be happy being told he is charge of WWE, then right after the board telling what the main event of WM will be forcing him to rebook a story he been doing for a year a week before the Rumble. Also can def see HHH not liking to have to work with someone who books himself.
Cody I honestly doubt cares. I never seen him as someone who cares at all for titles. His thing always has been legacy and making sure the Rhodes name is remembered well. Book him as a top guy and he seems happy. And he is a hard guy to bury as he is so good with the press. And frankly, HHH should be grooming Cody to take over the press conferences as he is just so much better than HHH at them at putting over wrestling products. He was great putting over AEW, and even better putting over WWE. I would want him on them shareholder calls. Booking him around a title is like thinking small. They should be booking him to be a professional part of the company in the near future.

He should just beat Seth and hold that one, as that title has been seen as a second rate title, and he can make it meaningful. But after that run, I think he is far better used in the back. I know he wants to book, so get him trained then give him NXT to see what he can do while HBK, HHH and Regal mentor him. They need fresh blood, and Cody is it. And he can still wrestle part time anyway. Also get him involved backstage he will ignore Tony when he tries to get him back.

I don't buy there being a power struggle between HHH and The Rock. I think the dirt sheets would like there to be and it would play out on TV fun, but I think all the dirt sheets are grasping at straws just like the rest of us and are just shit stirring at this point.
Let's go over the facts as we know them:
1) The Rock announced his seat on the TKO board on Jan 23. 4 days before the RR.
2) Vince McMahon accused of sex trafficking and other heinous acts and Brock Lesnar also mentioned on Jan 25
3) Vince resigns Jan 26
4) Royal Rumble Jan 27 - Cody wins (Brock is absent for reasons listed under #2, Punk is injured)
5) Raw Jan 29 - Punk announces he is unable to work Mania
6) Smackdown Feb 2 - Cody 'what is finishing the story?' segment. The Rock comes out and the roof blows off. Rock vs Roman at WM 40 is hinted at.
....and the wrestlenets explode
I'm going to preface this by saying I'm not necessarily referring to anyone in here unless I mention you by name I'm just bitching overall. Now there were mentions that Rock vs Roman came out of NOWHERE like an RKO, but The Rock addressed it over a month ago. Hell it's been hinted at since Roman won the Rumble what 9 years ago and all through the Bloodline storyline and I find it very hard to believe HHH didn't know anything about it.
Also, when The Rock announced his seat on the TKO board there was still 4 days before The Rumble. They've changed shit up an hour before, so either the plan was for Cody to win all along and there's more coming that people haven't been patient enough to wait and see or they called an audible because of Punk's injury or Brock's absence and have been scrambling ever since. I'm more inclined to believe the latter which I have consistently said in this thread.
The biggest thing that is really biting my ass is everyone (other than KJ and a bunch of you who apparently always thought him a rat bastard) turning on The Rock seemingly overnight over something they have no idea he even put into motion, let alone how it will play out in the end...2 MONTHS AWAY! I mean did they even ANNOUNCE Rock vs Roman or was it just speculated? And now however it plays out they'll say it's cause 'we forced their hands'. Well we'll never know now will we. I mean Cody even posted 'Thank you...But Trust Me' and people still thought they knew better.

They should be booking him to be a professional part of the company in the near future. Cody 100000% cares about titles. Are you joking? His entire arc since joining WWE was winning the title his father never did (which he for sure had input on), and before that all his booking in AEW revolved around the TNT title because the moron booked himself out of the world title picture, and he realized he couldn't get people over without a title being involved. And speaking of, do you trust the guy that had creative control in AEW to do anything good behind the scenes in NXT or WWE? Did you watch any of that train wreck? The guy who acted like a heel for a year AND DIDN'T KNOW HE WAS A HEEL? The crowd booed him for almost an entire year and he was like "why don't they like me? Better be on TV even more, that'll fix it." It was so bad we had ourselves convinced that he was doing some kind of galaxy brain meta heel gimmick when in reality he was just oblivious and out of touch with the audience, which led to him quitting the company he helped create! Cody belongs in the WWE because he is a good dude with a good character that people love, but he needs to be told what to do. When left to his own devices he books himself into corners, tries to solve racism on live television, and ends up in an unrehearsed weigh-in segment with Paul Wight.

I also don’t think we’re being fair to The Rock, the WWE legend.
He’s really the only Attitude Era guy who can and has still given us dream matches. He’s given us Rock/Hogan. Rock/Cena. Rock/Punk. Now Rock/Roman. That’s after giving us Rock/Austin and Rock/Foley which are two of the greatest feuds of all time. Let the legend shine and honestly what is Cody’s legacy? What has he done in wrestling that is unforgettable? Nothing and that’s between WWE and AEW.
There are levels to this and Cody is not on Rocks level nor is he even on Roman’s level.

I agree about The Rock, but you lose me on the 'Cody's not on Roman's level.'
If someone doesn't see Cody on the same level as Roman that's because WWE didn't set Cody up that way from the start - which is why he left to prove them wrong. Cody is extremely versatile and I don't find that with Roman. I like Roman, but Roman has been pushed to the moon and protected since Day 1 whether the fans wanted it or not. And while he has gotten better, Roman wishes he could deliver a promo like Cody (lisp be damned) or reinvent himself and get over as many times as Cody has with gimmicks no one else could have ever made work. I also don't think Roman would have been as successful as Cody outside of the WWE on his own. Cody completely reimagined himself as The American Nightmare. Bigger and Badder than ever. Big enough to come back to WWE a Main Eventer. However, Roman seems to appeal to the causal fans more than Cody and is also very good at what he does. But what he does is limited. And that's not bad, it just IS, and it works for him.
I'm rambling now. My point is I respectfully disagree that Roman and Cody aren't on the same level. I do agree that neither Cody nor Roman are on The Rock's level.

I guess I’m a casual by definition now since I don’t follow the shows on a weekly basis but my point still stands on impact. I don’t think Cody has an impact on the history books at Roman’s level. I think he came back to the WWE at a point where there were literally no babyfaces that could main event and took/was given advantage of it. There was no more Cena, no more Daniel Bryan, there was literally nobody. Sami Zayn? Please.
Cody is not on Roman’s level. Acknowledge him.

You can't get on that elite level if you don't get the spotlight to do so. Every measurement we have points to him being able to be on that level - so he needs that crowning moment. This whole scenario is like Austin winning the Rumble in 1998 and instead of facing HBK, Bob Backlund comes back to face him and Austin just lets him. Or Batista wins the Rumble, and instead of facing Triple H Hogan comes back to face Triple H and Batista just lets him. If you don't pull the trigger on the rising star of course they won't be on the level - that's why you need to give them these moments. We all want to see Roman/Rock - but if you don't make new stars at the right time you might as well close up shop.

But there's 2 points to that:
1) The same one I keep raising...None of us know for sure Cody's NOT getting his Mania moment. It's 2 months away! There's tons that could happen before then, but you all just heard him say 'just not at Mania', saw The Rock and that was that. Because they've never misled us before right?
2) Why does it have to be at Mania? What's the difference if it's at Mania or SummerSlam? Is 4 months going to make that big of a difference at this point if they tell the story well? There's a bunch of guys who had their moment at SS. It doesn't mean he won't get a Mania moment or that he won't be THE guy.
I'm a Christian and Matt Cardona/Zack Ryder fan. I get all about watching WWE squander a golden opportunity and pass someone by, but honestly that isn't the case here. Cody has been booked really strong. It is their every intention to make Cody THE guy in 2024, that is apparent.

Except Cody’s storyline is not only more established, it’s also the active story the company has been building around for two years. The Rock/Bloodline has been a general idea, floated and teased, but not the backbone of the company (which Cody very much is as the Babyface of the org). (By the way, if your argument for The Rock taking his role at Mania is because “it’s WrestleMania!” … you’re answering the question as to why we say it has to be at Mania.)

Just want to preface this by saying I don't really have a dog in this fight. Cody is meh. Rock is a 50something who already had his "last run" over a decade ago. Any residual loyalty I had to my once-beloved WWE based on decades of fandom ended when the McMahons sold to TKO. What even is WWE at this point? With that being said... Cody winning again doesn't not my socks off, but at least it's better than Punk winning. Only question now is will he finally win at 'Mania or will he get Lugered again? lmao. A Lugering would be an improvement over what they've done to Cody if Reigns/Rock does indeed stand. This would be like Luger just giving Bret the shot at Yoko and opting to slum it at 'Mania by challenging secondary champ Razor Ramon. Total loser move.

Rock on fire right now.
“I expected, we expected it because it’s right there & you go back & again you like to think ‘Hey I got my finger on the pulse’, we all try to keep the finger on the pulse, ultimately what the fans want & what they’re saying & often times, in sports, entertainment, anywhere, there’s a wave of noise that happens right out of the gate, that you just wanna pause for a second, let’s not make any rash decisions, let’s wait & see how it all shakes out & see what happens from there so just a matter of waiting, so now…was not surprised at it, did expect it but here’s the fun part, love Cody, love his passionate fans, then there’s the other passionate Cody fans & their called ‘Cody crybabies’, these are grown ass men, ‘Cody’s gotta finish his story’, it’s like..wait a second hold on, ‘hey dad you wanna go outside & play catch w/me?! Not now Cody’s gotta finish his story & I’m upset, wife comes in ‘hey honey you wanna go have sex, ‘not now Cody’s gotta finish his story!’”.
