If they just ran with this from the beginning then I would be way more interested. Instead I'm just bitter. And I like The Rock! And I wanna see him and Roman fight! Gaahhhh this was all so avoidable (could literally be the subtitle of every poor WWE booking decision ever).
Anyway, Cody also posted on instagram that he made his decision. I thought it had been made already. Guess he shows up at the press conference tonight?

I don’t think many (if any) have even shit on Cody personally. Just the hyperbolic crybaby portion of his fanbase. I have nothing against Cody and even though I wanted Punk to win the Rumble I would have been fully on board with Cody going on to face Roman.
That’s not what happened and I’m here for that as well and probably more here for it.
The gist of it all is though that y’all refuse to have an open mind about anything and have already concluded you’re going to hate everything Rock does because FINISH THE STORY. That’s the disconnect , but by all means man … enjoy wasting your time hate watching a product and bitching about it. It’s not weird at all.

That was really great only because there was so much truth to it. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to go play catch with my kid and have sex with my and KING KID’s wife. Because that’s what Rock fans do. If ya smellllllll-la-la

It’s weird. Over the past week, I feel like they’ve done a better job building Rock vs Cody and Roman vs Seth than the actual matches we are going to get. Lol.
If I have to make a prediction, I think we are getting Rock/Roman on one night and Roman/Cody the other night.

A few weeks ago I was calling The Rock a pedophile and message board whooping iron maiden ass UP and DOWN my KEYBOARD …. but as a nostalgic wrestling fan and someone who understands what legendary showdowns are, Rock/Roman was exciting for WM. So I was immediately hooked. Then I saw the Cody crybaby outrage (wish nerds would’ve stuck but Rock out did me) and I decided to be petty (be @thekid) and just go full blown down the Rock/Roman road just for the satisfaction of rebelling against the IWC.

I thought it had been made already. Guess he shows up at the press conference tonight? That’s the entire point. Rock comes in and wins the Rumble. No fucking issues. Go off. Even if they wanted Cody to win the Rumble they could still do this and end up exactly where we are. Like I said on last page, have The Rock interrupt Cody on Smackdown and big league him. Rock basically tells Cody "you're gonna fight Seth, let the adults handle business." You can even do exactly what you did on Smackdown. Rock goes in for the handshake, pulls Cody close, says something to him, Cody leaves. Rock gets in Roman's face. Everyone is wondering what the fuck just happened and Cody can be all "trust me," like he's been doing. Instead of everyone being pissed off everyone is intrigued and wondering how this is all gonna play out. That, or Punk wins the Rumble. He chooses Seth and Cody basically has to fight for a shot at Roman all over again. If Punk gets hurt, you pivot and do what I just suggested, or because The Rock stepped in and challenged Roman already, Cody's chance at Roman has to wait and his decision is made for him.

I see what RT is saying, but honestly, I think wrestling benefits from this chaotic dynamic at times. Predictable booking sucks the life out of a product. I find it hard pressed to believe that the interest level would be this high if they had booked it in the way people have suggested. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think they should get credited with the work from the beginning, that’s clearly horseshit, but working your way out of a shoot can be lightning in a bottle, and they’ve got it.

Predictable booking is what makes it super easy to just skip most wrestling shows these days, and just skip to what you want to see the day after.

Comparing Priest and Rock is about as fair as my car analogy. It’s not about Priest. The argument could apply to anybody. I’m not as low on the Rock as some here, but really, the last few things he’s done with WWE have been pretty lame in a lot of people’s minds. Throw in the DCEU stuff, and now this situation where, to many people, he is being seen to hijack the last chapter of a story that they like, they’re going to boo it, it’s that simple. I don’t know what an open mind has to do with it.

I agree, but at the same time, I don't think what I said is predictable in the slightest. I think "Cody wins Rumble, Cody challenges Roman, Cody wins title," is the predictable outcome. Yeah it's what most fans wanted, but it's also predictable. Punk wins the Rumble and throws a wrench in Cody's story. That's a surprise. Cody wins the Rumble but The Rock shows up at the last second to steal the spotlight. That's an even bigger surprise. My only point is that they could have made one or two slight adjustments to get to where we are now and the entire thing would have been far better received. That's all.

Punk just compared The Rock stepping in to fight Roman like if one of the teams playing in the Super Bowl this Sunday replaced their quarterback with Tom Brady after that QB carried them to the game. He said "If I'm that guy I'm mad, but I understand."
Punk of all people saying that about the Wrestlemania main event is HIIILLLLAARRRRIIIOUUSSSS
