On this day, 35 years ago, Hulk Hogan turned on his Mega Powers partner, Macho Man Randy Savage, by trying to cozy up to Randy’s woman and leaving him high and dry in the middle of a match. Hogan had been shady towards Macho Man many times over the year prior, but this was the final straw. The Mega Powers were destroyed because of Hogan’s ego and lust for Macho Man’s woman.

LOL, this was my exact thought process at the time and thus was my "heel turn" on Hogan as well after being a loyal Hulkamaniac for the past 4 plus years.

Hogan vs. Savage at WrestleMania 5 is obviously one of the greatest builds ever, but it should have been one of the greatest matches ever. Macho obviously had it in him, but Hogan did too (has one of the greatest matches ever in the very next WrestleMania!). Get it out of the Atlantic City Convention Center, maybe it has a better chance. Imagine a stadium or an arena stronghold (MSG, Boston Garden, Philadelphia Spectrum) with a hot crowd. Feels like it could have been special in a different environment.

I have a bunch of Savage/Hogan from MSG, Boston, Detroit, Philly etc from 85-90 and it seems they were both comfortable with the formula they had as none of those stand out either. Between Hogan sticking with what works for him (brother) and Savage being a meticulous pre-planner it's not surprising.

The match with Hogan was on my "good matches" list for Mania. Hasn't been updated since forever though.
