Also how insane is it to make a statement like that. 270 episodes like it's nothing.
I'm at the point where I'm probably planning to treat it like the GOT books. I know where I've left off, but might not engage anymore until (if) it's complete. Maybe just see how the live action fares.

Wait a minute...
Doesn't the season end on episode 284? Keep crackin' System! Otherwise you'll forget your spot.
Still, it's a fair innings and even if you were enjoying the show, 200+ episodes is going to tire anyone out. I'd give it a few months and then you'd never know, you might get the bug again.
Punishment is to write an essay on what you got out of the experience? What ups and downs did you have and what other shows did you wish you were watching instead?

So in Dubai they had One Piece stuff everywhere, as they normally have a lot of anime/manga stuff + the 25 year anniversary. So between that and getting constant videos on my fyp, long story short
I’ve taken the advice on skipping fillers though, thought I bumped something when it had the old intro but no just 5 episodes that are basically recaps of the beginning of the show? Pass.

Here's something. In theory couldn't you consume a whole show by just watching the "last season on Jummy Fuckface" and just watch in full the last episode. So instead of a 20 (really more like 18 if you don't watch the opening song) episode you can condense it down to 30 seconds.

To be fair this is the grind of all grinds so tempting. So cool to see the whale from very early in the show come into play.

Throwing in the towel. I’m only on episode 270 so not even a 1/4 of the way yet and I don’t love the show. I don’t dislike but not enough to continue especially with the how loud the characters are. Will decide a punishment for abandoning my quest of the One Piece This confirms all of my hesitations with it. I didn't want to have to reach that point, and knew I likely would. Most of my favorite animes are usually 30-50'ish episodes (Bebop, Champloo, Yu-Yu, etc. etc.) and I don't want them to ever end, but One Piece is a great reminder of why they should.

If they weren't making an anime episode correlate to exactly one manga issue then the show could be a lot quicker. Did they give up on that?

That's the shounen curse. It's either slow af or full of fillers. I like the formula of MHA, which I suppose is really just normal anime/television of seasons that aren't on perpetually so every week. It's just impossible especially when the manga is usually not even close to complete when it hits big. Then you got situation where the author ends up a lot busier and lot wealthier... GRRM.

Episode 400! Only 711 episodes to go as of writing! Already had one feeling of throwing in the towel but let’s see how the journey goes this time. The ProsI love the whole concept of the One Piece and searching for it, unless it’s a George RR Martin situation I really can’t wait for the moment when it happens. I know I could just skip to current episodes but I feel I wouldn’t mark out as hard. There’s traits I love about most characters, Zoro is my favourite so far and I love Luffy’s endless optimism. I don’t know how true it is but I’ve heard it takes a lot of influence from Don Quixote, the first book is a fun read if you also have a lot of time to spare. The Gold Roger part after the intro pops me every time, I’m glad it’s back in after being absent for a while. Patience really pays off, there’s a few episodes about a whale they encounter which doesn’t seem to have any real significance to the story. Then very many episodes later it does. I’ve heard this happens more in One Piece so hope that’s the case, have done a pretty good of avoiding spoilers so far. Favourite Arcs so have have been Enie’s lobby arc, which seeing people talk about how good it was dragged me back in. The one in the desert was really good also. Thriller Bark did test my patience a bit with Brook’s laughter. The ConsLuffy’s voice gets grating and some of the other character’s laughs are obnoxiously loud. I know people recommend the sub but I watch it side by side while gaming. The CrunchyRoll app sucks. 1/2 the time the skip intro button won’t work or it will freeze up and at some rare times skip to the end of an episode. The few minutes of intro really add up over so many episodes. Only until recently the idea of searching for the One Piece has been mentioned again. It’s like those road trip comedies where they just have to get to A to B but then all this crazy stuff happens and they have countless side quests. Like I get it it needs to stretch out for so long but it gets odd when their main goal doesn’t get mentioned by the crew in hundred or so episodes. The episode between Arcs have been some of my favourites when they get back to sailing. Only until the episodes I just watched did the map of the grand line and explaining the journey come up again.

If nothing else see if you can finish up to Marineford Arc (quick wiki puts that @ 489) it's pretty much the pinnacle of the series.

Episode 500! ..and I’m not even halfway. I saw a TikTok of a girl that watched all of it in 27 days. I work full time, be happy with 27 months  As Ness reference to, the Marineford (and Impel Down) Arcs were fantastic, glad I don’t watch this on a weekly basis as there was a very long build to the rescue attempt on Ace (Luffy’s brother). Slavery was not a theme I expected to see explored in this show. Definitely got heavier from the Enie’s Lobby Arc onwards.
After all the trouble Luffy and co go through, Ace doesn’t make it.
Incredibly emotional attitude especially as up until this point plot armours always saves the day
If nothing else see if you can finish up to Marineford Arc (quick wiki puts that @ 489) it's pretty much the pinnacle of the series. I hope not but it’s looking that way so far. Skipped the two episodes the wiki said was filler but I have no idea why the other episodes with Luffy and Ace as children aren’t considered filler either.

Episode 600 We’re supposedly halfway through the Journey after now dealing with the new world. Though in one episode quite a few ago, Luffy said he didn’t want any clues as to where the One Piece is. If it’s your life goal, maybe a hand would help? I think was @ness was right about the Marineford Arc being the peak of the show as this has been very underwhelming since the time skip. By the time I hit 700 I’ll be past the point of no return, still crazy I’m up to episode 600 and still not halfway.

I could see someone saying that if they've been caught up for a while and have to wait a week for a new episode, or their streaming service only has a few seasons.
I started the series again a few weeks ago. I'm up to mid-80s when Chopper is introduced. I has previously binged up to 750, the end of the Doflamingo arc.

I can't fathom starting over. I'm 1000 episodes in and they're so slow moving. Maybe it always was, but my attention span these days limits me to an episode a day more or less. Sometimes it feels like I only "attack" the backlog with One Piece is to not fall so behind I lose sight of it. Because no way am I starting over.

Something special is in store for the One Piece anime, with Toei Animation announcing a break for the Egghead Arc along with the return of a classic storyline. The hiatus officially begins after today’s airing of Episode 1122. While we wait for new simulcast episodes adapting Eiichiro Oda's sprawling manga, fans will be treated to the weekly broadcast of One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga. The special edited version of the original arc presents Fish-Man Island in an abridged 21-episode story with enhanced contemporary visuals. Crunchyroll has confirmed plans to stream the episodes as they air in Japan. A key visual was revealed along with the news. www.crunchyroll.com/news/latest/2024/10/13/one-piece-anime-hiatus-fish-man-island ===== This is a relief

Honestly with it so close to the manga I wonder if they'd ever consider taking real breaks and only doing anime seasons as they come by? Might be too much money on the table to do that I assume. Feels like they should really try and capitalize on the recent netflix success.

Started reading the first google result to The One Piece and it had an article doing maths about what the difference will be. First section says it cuts 11 hours off. It really be a long ass series. It didn't feel like it when I was watching it over the span of 10+ years when I was heavily into anime and watching longer shounens anyway... but man by modern standards it's pretty insane.
