Obviously DIS BUSINESS and a lesser extent us fans have basically used the term as a catch-all for alumni or oldhead who used to work here. Saw a video recommended to me "you won't believe which LEGENDS are still wrestling" and all I could think was (based on the thumb) that ain't no legend. So what is your criteria for the term... is it titles won? Relevancy during their heyday? Could one small run give them the rub?

Basically, just a wrestler who was popular/successful a long time ago. "Long time" can mean anything from a decade ago on. It's become a pretty meaningless term tbh and I am partially to blame as I'm fairly certain I've called everyone from The Gambler to Jake "The Milkman" Milliman a legend lol. Admittedly sometimes tongue in cheek.
Yearly reminder that I was once talking about legends with a friend I got into wrestling a year or two earlier when Jeff Jarrett came up. He wondered aloud whether Double J would be considered a legend before quickly coming to his own conclusion by correctly recognizing JJ as "a modern-day legend." Darn tootin'. I trained him well.

If we're talking wrestling..
Political stroke can ensure titles, it can ensure main events, it can ensure you've got all the attention. And saying that, you can have 20 World Championships with varying degrees of definitions, and 3 / 4 of them can be completely meaningless. Size, look and charisma can get you things that are often unearned.
Influence is perhaps what makes a legend a legend in wrestling. A positive influence. And even that can see varying degrees of definitions. John Cena and Stone Cold are legends because of their impact on the bottom line, they drew. Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio are legends due to their influence on modern wrestling. Undertaker is a legend due to his unwavering dedication to his character and the business itself. Regardless of how, all these guys had a positive influence on the business.
What might be easier is, if someone puts together a list of 20 worker from the last 30 years and we'll vote either yes or no. And then we'll look at the similarities between all the yes votes.
