He's been a divisive figure in the community for eight years now. He had this infamous match with Ricochet over in Japan where it looked more like a tumbling routine than an actual wrestling match.

Still, when you see him in context, his match is typically the highlight of any show he's on.

For me, I don't know what's worse. The overly choreographed Matrix wannabe sequences, the lack of selling which completely takes the stakes out of the match or his his Pip Pip Cheerio Ezugiri or Cheeky Nandos nonsense.

Not WWE training just logic if people of similar attributes fight you can't take 5 hits in a row without registering they hit.

Eh, this has been the style other places for a long time (I don’t think he invented the wrestling with a mannequin thing for instance). WWE has always been about going slow and selling for effect.

If everyone knows they’re not really fighting, which we do, then doing something in the most entertaining way makes perfect sense. It’s just not what I’m used to or necessarily interested in.

(For the AEW tribalists, this is me admitting I am probably in the wrong, just conditioned to have a certain expectation that wrestling moves hurt)

I get where mikec is coming from. Like Big Pete said, Ospreay is a divisive wrestler and has been for most of his career. I wouldn’t be surprised if he turned down a better offer from WWE because of it. They would want him to change his style too much, I would think.

I love watching him but also understand he has a place in the business. He is like watching monster trucks or a Michael Bay movie. You aren’t going in for substance and nuance, you are going for “WOW BOOM YAY COOL!”

His matches with Omega last year were some of my favourites but they were also two dudes trying to out-invincible each other. :lol:
