sandylea never learnt how to ride a bike properly as a kid, so we decide to remedy that and very proud to say she’s got the hang of it now and ready for the Tour de France in no time 🥳. In doing so have been getting back into cycling as well, Good way to keep the cardio up for my 600 second matches  Haven’t really done so frequently since I was in high school and there’s one major difference there. In my state it’s illegal to ride your bicycle on the footpath (pavement/sidewalk) over the age of 18. Legal in most other states. Which is frustrating as we all know how motorists feel about cyclists blocking off half the lane doing well under the speed limit so have to contend with the bicycle lanes that appear and reappear. Rather contend with someone backing out of the driveway than trucks. Nonetheless despite this frustration I’ve been having fun Do your cycle for recreation and/or for commute?

System I think you're supposed to be 40 before you rediscover your love of cycling, which means you gather with friends and ride to a trendy cafe in Lycra so you can all sit their with your legs splayed and your dick and balls on display to the horror of all in the vicinity

iNCY with a very specific description there. Must have happened more than...5 times? I rode my bike for the first time last summer in probably 18+ years last summer with Foos Jr. Went pretty well! Not enough to ever want to ride it on my own without my children. I'm sure I'll ride it even more this spring/summer with Foos Jr. Well, at least I hope so. Like most children of the 80s/90s, I rode my bike everywhere until I got my license.

My mate is a cyclist, and it was like a double shot of whatever drug killed John Belushi.. before he knew it, he had a full blown addiction and has been a fiend since.
I grew up riding, I had a classic chrome 1980s/90s BMX growing up with the square head stem and pegs on the rear. Then graduated to a mountain bike later because it looks silly at some point riding a BMX when you're the size of an adult.
I didn't really touch a bike from my mid-teens until my early 20s, when I bought a new mountain bike and started doing a 20k loops. I eventually ended up buying a really good Norco hardtail mountain bike and started riding the bush trails. But like everything, I lost interest quickly. It's still in the shed, I gave it a refurb during covid with the intention of riding it during lockdowns, but covid ended and so did my interest in it.
I'm a bit of a freak with riding. I did a 10km bike leg in a Tag Team Tri-Athlon back in 2015 at St.Kilda beach with about a week of prep, and pulled a low 20-something minutes. And for whatever reason I keep finding myself on a bike when I get overseas with no previous prep. I did a few big rides in NZ and another big one on some island off the coast of Ireland, and a few shorter urban rides.

It's actually a thing here in Aussie land, it even has been named MAMIL's pronounced Mammal, stands for Middle Age Men In Lycra. @admin has to have witnessed this. I haven't been cycling though I would like an eBike, it's really hilly where I live. Back to walking too and from work, 13km per day.

I'm trying to get the term " cafe racers " over. As they just suit up, look the part then ride 3kms to the nearest cafe, park themselves out of the front with their bikes taking up the rest of the space and spend the next 2 hours probably talking about tax returns.

Around here a 40+ man has two choices on a Saturday morning, he either rides along Beach Road or he plays golf.

I'm going to Costco and then taking my kids to hockey/soccer/basketball/swimming whatever activity they're in at the moment. And NATH45 smoking meat is for Sundays 😁

Should probably plan a longer/more intensive ride but eh

You're going to reclaim the term from British motorcycle riders?

Michinokudriver well, the term refers to the motorcycles used for the short, quick rides between cafes. So, it suits. I love them, if I ever got a motorcycle, it would be a cafe racer.

They're pretty sweet looking but wholly incompatible with the power ranger sportbike gear look so I dunno which one I'd get next
