So I'm watching Shameless and evidently there's a UK version? Is it the same show line for line or it's own thing? There's the US version of the Office. UK has Ricky G. Whatever that thread on PW does it about Benedict Arnold (Traitors) is listed as US UK. Is it 2 shows airing at the same time? What's up with having a country's take on a show, why don't they just air the show?

Americans don't want to watch a show where everyone has a British accent, so you guys need to make a new one. UK Office was great. I watched the first season of UK Shameless and it was ok. I actually preferred the USA version. Oh well, having options is nice. Now me and c are off to watch Survivor: Romania (yes it's actually a show)

Here's my guess: production companies saw how successful the US version of The Office was and decided to do that for every successful British show forever. Why? Because production companies are run by morons in suits who don't care about anything other than finding the next successful TV show. They know that if one hits, they will make so much money that it doesn't matter if they waste millions on a bunch of failures.
Also, if the show already exists elsewhere, they don't even have to pay writers. "Holy shit we got a whole season of content already! Hire a team and reshoot this with Americans! I'll be in my coke den!"
I do think that this is finally going away with how successful streaming has been. Now that we live in a streaming world where cable is slowly dying and only holding on because of live sports, they don't have to try so hard. They know people will more likely just watch the original if it is available (The IT Crowd, for example), so now they are just focusing their energy on getting people to pay for their streaming service and not their competitors. Now all they have to worry about is attracting subscribers for the next big binge watch show. And because they control all the rights they can just pay a writer to make something up, cast whoever they want, and even if the show tanks they likely still turn a profit and can just cancel it whenever they feel like it because there are a dozen other shows in the works anyway and us gutter trash will watch whatever the fuck they put on to drown out the horrors of our dying planet I think I need to stop typing now.

Mom and I’s current favourite show is Ghosts and we attempted to watch the British version-as we usually enjoy a lot of Brit TV-but we prefer the CBS version hands down for a myriad of reasons.
That being said, we much preferred the UK version of The Office.

Remake this shit, American jerks! Arguably one of the best episodes of anything ever: They did, even got Ayoade to reprise his role, starred Joel McHale, and was terrible. Like attempted Red Dwarf American version. Bad remakes tend to be the standard. Good anomalies include: the Office, Shameless, Ghosts, and one I think surpassed the original, Being Human.

Remake this shit, American jerks! Arguably one of the best episodes of anything ever: No way they can make IT Crowd work with different actors IMO. The core crew just fucking killed it.

Could never really get into international survivor, but Romania is just so out there.

Did anyone managed to sit through an episode of the American Inbetweeners? I forgot that was even a thing. And no, I refused. Original is perfect.

Sandford and Son was based on Steptoe and Son. Each brilliant. Also, All in the Family was based off the UK's 'Til Death Do Us Part, and Three's Company was adapted from Man About the House.

Which has me questioning....did the US ever have a US adaptation of the (very questionable, and very much left in the past) Love Thy Neighbour.
