I'm not gonna do themes. I'm just gonna pick personal favorites. But if I get stuck, or don't have a favorite that fits the day's theme, I'll just pick at random.

Day 2! Summer of 69’ - Bryan Adams One of my favourite songs by him, it’s a classic for a reason Summer of 69 was my first thought, but this is another more recent tune that reminds me of summer. Not the lyrics just the feeling it evokes for me. Driving with my windows down and the sun shining, music up, singing along.

Toes - Zac Brown Band
Not my favorite ZBB song by any means but it’s definitely a summer banger and was the first thing that popped in my head.

Songs don't often remind me of times, places, or people so these categories will be a struggle. The music I like is fit for all seasons and all reasons.
Searching my music collection for "summer" or "sun" turns up a lot of interesting options. Here's one of 'em.

Summer Song
Just because it feels like the type they play at amusement parks. Even if it's a cheap cover it just makes me think.

Day 4 - Song that reminds you of someone you'd rather forget
Fake Friends - Joan Jett & The Blackhearts
In high school, I met someone, who I thought was a friend. But all he did was drive a wedge between me and my best friend. And he was trying so hard to get us to hate each other. So I ditched him.

RT's Day 3 A song that reminds me of summertime
Weirdly this music video is shot in the winter but this song reminds me of summer more than any I can think of. Growing up in southern Ontario as a white middle class kid, there was one thing you did every summer: went to the cottage. The entirety of central Ontario is dubbed "cottage country" and it's because in the 80's and 90's when boomers had more money than they could spend, they all bought cottages outside of the city. Fast forward 20 years and everyone either has a cottage or knows someone with one, and when it was summer holidays you went. Didn't matter if it was a weekend, a week, or the whole summer. Half the population of the Greater Toronto Area fucked off up north and chilled at the cottage by the lake.
This song by The Tragically Hip is a metaphor for falling in love, about a man who falls in love with a woman that he didn't expect to, but is also about being in love with the city and not realizing you can find love elsewhere until you leave. It is also the unofficial anthem of cottage time for Ontarians, because Bobcaygeon is a town in Ontario that is known for being a big central hub of cottagers. It's on the Trent-Severn Waterway in the community of Kawartha Lakes, which means nothing to you guys unless you are from Ontario. Then you hear those words and you know exactly what I am referring to. There is a TON of cottages in that area and north of there, and for years it was basically the last stop everyone made before they left civilization. Last chance to grab a Big Mac, alcohol, bait & tackle, ice, whatever you forgot when packing for the weekend, etc.
Ontario has grown a lot over the last few decades so that really isn't the case anymore, and cottage country isn't what it once was, and I could do an entire TED Talk about it. But really all you need to know is this: when you got out of the city and escaped the every day grind, drove out to the cottage by fighting traffic, forgetting your toothbrush and having to stop, finally get in later than you wanted to, unpacked the car...then you build a quick fire and decide it's roasted hot dogs for dinner because that is all we can throw together. You crack a cold drink, sit down as the fire begins to crackle, and you see your friends and family enjoying themselves in the outdoors. Someone turns on some music as you look to the sky, seeing the sun disappear and the stars start to come out. This song comes on just as you take a deep breath and realize you have nothing to worry about for the next few days other than what you're gonna do first: take the boat out or sleep in. There might not be a better feeling in the world.
I very much miss Ontario right now.

RT's Day 4 Song that reminds me of someone I'd rather forget
Not much of a story here. Ex-girlfriend. This was her favourite song when we first met. She played it a lot and it always reminds me of her when I hear it.
Normally this kind of thing doesn't bother me and after time it goes away, but this one never did. I ignored a lot of red flags in my time with her and when things ended, they ended badly. I don't like thinking about what she did to me or how she treated me, and I also don't like thinking about the kind of person I was when I was with her. And the worst part of all of it is, I wouldn't have traded our time together for anything. Not only was it incredible when it was good, but she is also the reason I left Ontario and eventually met my wife.
It's such a weird feeling thinking about someone you despise and feeling like you owe them because if it wasn't for them you wouldn't be happy now. And I don't like thinking about it so this song gets skipped every time it comes on.

Day 4 - I Died For You - Iced Earth
There isn’t a particular song that stands out but an entire artist. This is the main one that comes to mind because I love the band and the song, but I rarely listen to the band because it makes me think of my ex. He introduced me to the band, and we went to the concert together.
He was a real piece of shit and I wish I could forget the entire relationship, forget knowing him.
BUT this band is fantastic and I adore this song. Still sad they didn’t play it live ☹️

She introduced me to a band called Mr. Something Something and we went to two shows together. Weirdly though that band doesn't have that affect on me because I saw them a couple more times well after we broke up with other friends and had a great time. Funny how that works. I can listen to them without even thinking about her. But when Dancing Through Sunday comes on I'm like NOPE NOPE NOPE I DON'T WANT THE BAD TIMES LALALALALA

Steal My Sunshine is my favourite choice so far, nice one sandyleaStay - Morgan Wade Wade is my new country obsession. I love her. Ok calm down Kyle Richards. I don't really have a person I want to forget so I'll pick this song which is more about the growing inequality in our society, and the alienation and isolation that technology has caused. I've focused quite a lot on limiting my social media use because it is unhealthy, and instead doing the things that improve my mental health.
