Steal My Sunshine is my favourite choice so far, nice one sandyleaStay - Morgan Wade Wade is my new country obsession. I love her. Ok calm down Kyle Richards. I don't really have a person I want to forget so I'll pick this song which is more about the growing inequality in our society, and the alienation and isolation that technology has caused. I've focused quite a lot on limiting my social media use because it is unhealthy, and instead doing the things that improve my mental health. I don’t know what this means.

This is hilarious. Well played. Gonna post a bonus song for my Day 3 (summer) because it very nearly became my pick and it was almost a tie, and also none of this matters. The first time I went camping just with friends, we listened to this album about 4,000 times. I picked this song because it was the 3rd song on the album and when it started playing in my friend's car I distinctly remember leaving town, staring out the open window at the trees, and being very excited about the 4 days ahead of us spent in the forest. I have always associated this song with that feeling of freedom, nice weather, wind in your face, knowing that for at least the next little while your life was going to be fun as fuck. Side story: a few of us on that trip worked at McDonald's. One of us (Jarrett) stole a jug of the orange pop syrup from work, and planned on filling a cooler with ice, water and vodka, and drinking it. The first night at our camp site he never got around to making his potion and left the jug sitting on our picnic table. A group of raccoons got a hold of it. We all woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of about a dozen raccoons high as fuck on orange sugar, fighting over the scraps. He got to drink straight vodka the rest of the trip. They did not leave a single drop.

Gonna post a bonus song for my Day 3 (summer) because it very nearly became my pick and it was almost a tie, and also none of this matters. The first time I went camping just with friends, we listened to this album about 4,000 times. What song RT ? It's not showing up on my laptop or phone. ========= Don't have an entry for today, but since RT told a camping story... The summer song I went with was Don McLean's American Pie. Tag Team's Whoomp There It Is was also under consideration. To tie it all together, both these songs got over with me while camping...in the summer! We went camping just outside of Gettysburg, PA for a weekend in early August every year from roughly 86-95. Just kids and dads. Moms weren't allowed. The story goes they were major party poopers that first year or two, so the dads banned them from future trips, making it a dads, sons, and daughters exclusive. We drew a good crowd. Must have been 25-30 people most (all?) years. Maybe more? Yeah, probably was more. There was a core group, and that core group would bring new acquaintances every year. 'Twas a mix of then-current friends and old acquaintances. I think the moms did their own thing while we were gone. Idk. Anyway, one hot August night in '94, or maybe 93, a mix of tweens, dads, and teenage broncin' bucks sat around the fireplace, roasting marshmallows, and listening to American Pie over and over again at maximum volume. I'm sure most of the dads were drinking. 15-20 years after our last trip my own old man told me half those dads were high as well. Good thing I didn't know at the time! I'd have been overcome by the vapors and fainted faster than a Brit seeing a gun had I known I was in the presence of *gasp* ILLEGAL DRUGS. Anyway, we youths had heard the song before. It was a radio staple. One I actually liked and paid attention to when it came on the radio! But even then, I/we never really HEARD it before, if ya catch my drift. Now it spoke to me/us on a deeper level. We were suddenly fascinated by these lyrics we didn't really comprehend. Before long, youths and dads alike were all singing together at the top of our lungs. It was beautiful. One of those magical moments that has always stuck with me. Back at home a few days/weeks later, my friends and I came up with two soccer plays named after American Pie lyrics- the Jester and the Marching Tune. Only Marching Tune would soon morph into "Archie's Blue" because my brother, who was away when we devised these sweet plays, misheard "Marching Tune" as "Archie's Blue" when I shouted it out to my teammate/neighbor/camping companion, Jensen. And all this is why even some 30 years later Don McLean's American Pie still remains my top choice for a summer song.

American Pie’s rhythm section is great. It’s hard to hear on an old radio but on a good stereo it jams.

Day 4
This song marks the end of my marriage and though I'm long over him and learned a lot about myself, it's a period of time in my time I'd rather forget.
EDIT: Yes, it's country.

I have an idea for Day 4. Not a person I'd rather forget, but a song I'd rather forget.
I spent a lot of my student days in the rock/metal bar, "dancing" to loud aggressive music. Dragula is a big floor-filler in the genre. I never "danced" to that song because it's dreadful. The song is still immensely popular in such establishments, places I haven't been for years, and songs like these are one reason why.

Day 5
Though not my favorite song by them, definitely the most recognizable banger they've put out.

Baker "What I Believe" by Sum41 That's a good summer song. There's also Summer by the same band. And there's In Too Deep, which gives me summer vibes because of the pool party video.

RT's Day 5 A song that needs to be played loud
Not brain surgery here. Try and listen to this song without turning it up. You can't.
I strongly considered "Freebird" here but this was the first song that popped into my head and I don't really want to overthink it or think of some stoner metal song that nobody has ever heard of. Sometimes you nail it on the first try.
Little story behind this song: after I moved to western Canada two of my friends drove out to visit me during winter break (they were in their last year of school and I had already graduated and moved). The three of us drove back to Ontario without stopping, just rotating drivers and taking turns napping in the backseat. We cut through the United States and it was a pretty eventful trip. We were tired and eager to get home. When we got across the border back into Canada my friend put this song on and instead of "Panama" we were yelling "CANADA!"

I'm with UT, Emp & sandy. Every song I like is best played loud. And the GOAT should be played loudest of all...
I've said it before, and I'll say it once more. Human civilization peaked when a few lads from Sweden put this out in 1986 and it's been all downhill ever since. This is the music of the Gods. I discovered it in 1998 where it was used as background music for a Flair/Steamboat video package on my Best of the NWA Volume 3 tape. I knew right away. Felt it in my bones. Greatest thing I had ever seen. Greatest thing I had ever heard. Still is.
A few weeks later I saw a commercial for the Monsters of Rock CD on Monday Night Raw. Final Countdown played as a guy jumped out of an airplane. So fitting. So perfect. Knew I had to have that album one day. About a year after that I finally started buying/getting into music in a big way. If not THE first, Monsters of Rock was certainly one of the first albums I bought. The rest is history.
Look, I realize how lame it is that Final Countdown is my favorite song. It somehow manages to simultaneously be impossibly mainstream and hopelessly uncool. I couldn't care less about the "uncool" part. I like what I like. Always have. Plus the tastemakers who decide these things are almost uniformly awful people. Only thing worse are their NPC followers mindlessly parroting their talking points and walking wherever their masters lead them. But the "hopelessly mainstream" part does bother me a little bit. It's just such a BORING favorite song to have. It's the rare 38 year old song with over billion views on Youtube. It reached #1 in 25 countries. It's staple at sporting events. It’s been used in commercials, tv shows, and movies. It's a meme. It's overplayed. I get it. I'd much rather my favorite song be a Europe deep cut, or a Harry Chapin song that isn't Cats In The Cradle. Or something from a band like Maiden or Sabaton that got over in a big way with little to no radio play. Something like Stargazer or The Prophet's Song would be an infinitely more interesting choice. There are hundreds, nay, thousands of more interesting choices. Final Countdown IS a boring favorite song to have...
But I gotta be true to myself. Sometimes stuff is popular for a reason. Like it or not, Final Countdown is my favorite. Doesn't matter how many thousands of times I've heard it. Every time I hear that epic minute-long intro, Joey Tempest's angelic vocals, John Norum's shredding solo, and those fittingly bombastic lyrics about space travel (you couldn't sing about something mundane to THAT music), I am reminded of what I've known since 1998...
It doesn't get any better than this.
