Hurr Durr Big Daddy Meltz is just one guy Hurr Durr. This is HOW show some RESPKT.

With that said strangely Meltz never gave Kurt a five star match. You'd think Kurt woulda been one of his boys. But there was a long period where it seemed he was especially harsh on WWE matches which would've been during Kurt's main run so it could be an oversight. We've had KING KURT threads before so I know PW is down with the Bucko but do you consider any of his matches to be perfect? Like jesus christ even Rumble 2003 didn't get the rub?

Taker from No Way Out? If not for Earl I'm a terrible Ref even discounting Montreal Heber's botch could this have been another? Feel like that whole show is a banger. Maybe Kurt is just Mr. No Way Out? What matches of Kurt hit the Canadian Stampede of Approval in your eyes?

It wasn't just Kurt that suffered during this period. There were so many guys banging out 'five star' classics on the indies that have been lost to time because Dave was busy transitioning into MMA. It wasn't until the resurrection of NJPW that he began to lighten up, especially since it made sense business wise to present Pro Wrestling in a favourable light and gas up each match. I also think the modern day guys have cracked the code and Dave hasn't adjusted to modern times.

It'd be like giving Johnny B Goode 5 stars only for Knights of Cydonia to receive 10 stars.

Big Pete nailed it. Angle/Benoit would be 6 or more stars today and Angle/Michaels an easy 5.

Just looked into it. Dave only rated four WWF/E matches 5 stars from The Beginning-2017. That's roughly 37 years with only 4 ***** matches. From 98-17 WWF/E only had one 5-star match in Dave's eyes.  Since 2018 Dave has rated 14 WWE matches 5 stars or more. Several of them I had never even heard of lol. 

Pete has another good point about wrestler's cracking Dave's code. He likes what he likes. What gets me though is how did all those early 2000s TLC matches never get 5*? That stuff should be right up Dave's alley.
