Unless he is stopped, Hashem Al-Ghaili plans to start a move for immortality. He is detailing out a method for whole head transplantation that he seeks to debut in 2035. This is not a new field but research has been extremely limited do to the ethics involved. We first did this on monkeys in the 1960's successfully but backlash chilled talk of it until recent years and the quest for immortality begun in earnest. Ren Xiaoping managed to keep a mouse alive for six months post transplant showing it is very much feasible. While the first few who do this will die, each death shows were complications will occur, allowing them to be rapidly fixed. They go aggressive enough, 15 years should fix the major issues, which generally are clots.
What makes Al-Ghaili's plans so ghoulish is he plans to remove the face and transplant it as well.
So far this all geared at dealing with terminal illnesses, but there is no reason one at 90 with a healthy brain could not graft their head into a 20 year old body though and essentially be reborn. Some of the ultra rich alive right now say they are investing in programs to beat death, and this clearly is one path for them to do just that.
About 5 years back Sergio Canavero was attempting to do a human full head transplant and ethics shut him down, so unsure if we are ready as a society for this yet, but I suspect some big investors are very, very interested in this work. When Canavero was interested the immortality business was just starting, now it is a massive industry with more and more funds being dumped into it post covid. May be a lot harder to cry this is immoral to shut it down.

Slightly on the topic, I've always looked at the idea of downloading " one's consciousness " and installing it later in a body or machine like a burnt DVD, sure technically it's the same thing as it has all the data, but it's not really. You're not really living forever, just making copies.

Hence this fucked up crazy idea. Keep the brain you are still you. God the first person who does this though is so coming out insane.
As for the uploading to a machine, the sad reality is consciousness is linked to the brain. Electricity goes off there, no more consciousness. And that shit cannot be transferred or copied. We like to pretend AI is the same as thought, but they are really nothing alike at all.
