Covid was hard for me. My wife and I separated for about six months, and two months of that I didn't see my kids at all. We got back together in late 2020, and all of our effort went to rebuilding our relationship. Out the window went any self-management, including working out and diet. I started a new job in a new state, the kids started school, we moved again two years later for a new job in a new state, and yeah ... KJ put on a shit ton of weight. I'd seen the 75 Hard program for awhile on social, and I've had some friends that have done it. The creator, Andy Frisella, is a pretty unbearable douchebag, but I liked the challenge. 75 Hard consists of the following tasks, every day, without exception: - Daily Progress Photo
- Read 10 Pages of a Non-Fiction Book
- Two Distinct 45-Minute Workouts, one of which MUST be outside
- Drink One Gallon of Water
- A consistent diet (your choice)
- No Cheat Meals
- No Alcohol
It's a lot. And it's all an honor system, of course. But why do the program if you won't keep yourself accountable? There are no excuses whatsoever; everything must be done.
I'm on Day 64 right now, nearly at the end. I've lost about 37 lbs during that time.
My workouts have consisted of going to the gym 4-5X a week, stationary bike rides (often throwing the bike on the deck for my outdoor workout), walks (I've cut my mile pace down almost three minutes) and the occasional game of pickleball. Living in Seattle, I've done many a'walk in pouring rain.
My diet has been strict macro-tracking, sticking to around 2,000-2,400 calories a day (aligned with my workout program). The missus has been a huge help for me, making macro-friendly dinners most nights and helping weigh-out my portions.
I've read two books -- Getting Things Done and The Next CMO -- and I'm just about done with my third, I Will Teach You to be Rich. Not sure what I'll close out the challenge on.
Overall, I feel a million times better physically, mentally and emotionally than I have in a long time. I think this will become at least an annual task for me, even when I hit my goal weight.
So ... is anyone else familiar with the program? Has anyone else completed it? And if you're looking for a physical and mental reboot, I definitely recommend it.

Yes, I have read about the program and I hear great things. I want to recommend your final book to be "The obstacle is the way" Changed my life
Like you, I found COVID very hard, our state government was about the worst in the world and between them and the government in New Zealand my life/work nearly killed me.
I had as close to a nervous breakdown as anyone could get when I was in Hotel Quarantine in New Zealand. An asshole customer beating up on me twice a day on the phone and being stuck in a room with the army outside. I lost the ability to sleep etc.
Following all this was what caused me to really start living my life intentionally. I embraced stoicism Put some real work into myself. Lost 7kg Joined a business group
I am a man of Faith and I do believe in the providence of God. The first time around that I got COVID I passed it to my Dad and he was in the ICU for a week and nearly died. At the time he got an infection and the doctors prescribed some tests when he got out. Dad did the tests and found out he had cancer but they caught it early enough... Without the COVID he would be dead by now because the symptoms wouldn't have emerged until long after it passed the treatable stage.
Sorry for the ramble, I would like to do the hard 75 but I don't have the scope for it at the moment. I like the shock things, I'm guessing they go with 75 because it's long enough to form new habits?

Disappointing that this isn't a new Korean Netflix show.

Disappointing that this isn't a new Korean Netflix show. I thought by the thread title it might have been a bot pushing erectile meds for those turning 50.

I did one of these years ago, twice actually. But for different reasons.
I lack the discipline, or did then. Got myself in decent shape, but ate poorly and subbed a lot of the diet with protein mix, as I was building muscle instead, and getting bloated. Then I got comfortable with where I was at and just rode mountain bikes as an alternative to sweating in my spare rooms lifting weights and doing push ups.
I tore my shoulder about 12 years ago, and just lived with the pain and eventually I started going to a myotherapist to get some relief - expecting a rub down, she put me on a program working out twice daily for maybe 60 or 80 days between visits where I had to actually drink water and eat well, no alcohol, and one workout was simply moving - I chose to ride, and it worked by strengthening everything, not just the bung shoulder.

Not that my words mean anything, but I am happier than you can know that you and the missus were able to work on things. I think too many people give up nowadays on their marriage, relationships and themselves.
I know I do not have the discipline for such a program but I am happy you found something that worked for you. I do need to find something that works for me, but I think it'll be a hybrid of sorts.

Thanks! It took a lot of effort, and it'll always linger to a degree ... but we're still pretty god damn happy and fortunate/lucky/"blessed" to have the life we have today.

On Day 74. Tomorrow is the finish line. I cannot wait. To the boss move, get to the end and start again! Hah! I’m going to take a few weeks, and then I’m going to do “Phase 1,” which is a 30-day advanced program. At least I think I will.

Throw in 30 minutes of journaling, and you're officially qualified to sell financial advice on Instagram and TikTok.

Are there any parts of the program you aspire to continue after you finish? Personally, I think the reading component is important.

Hah! I’m going to take a few weeks, and then I’m going to do “Phase 1,” which is a 30-day advanced program. At least I think I will. Are there any parts of the program you aspire to continue after you finish? Personally, I think the reading component is important. Being physically active everyday. Not going to do two 45 minutes workouts a day, including one outdoor ... but riding the exercise bike or keeping the gym routine on-track is critical. I need to keep drinking water. My appetite has been way more in-check. Again, maybe not a gallon, but half a gallon? Yeah, definitely. Reading. To your point, it's super critical to my own personal development. Diet. Not as restrictive, not everyday without fail, but the focus on portion sizes and overall focus on macros was excellent.
