I was one of the biggest Cena haters on the board and even wanted to buy one of those I hate John Cena shirts. I was so happy when Edge cashed in on him in 06.
Embarrassing to admit but I kicked a hole through a door when he won a match once 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️.


That being said now that I’m older I see why they gave him the top spot. Went to a house show shortly after Rollins broke Cena’s nose and they announced Cena wouldn’t be there. If you wanted a refund see the box office, no one else would be announced like that during that era with cards being subject to change.

John Cena is the GOAT, and all respects of the word when it comes to WWE. He appeals to every one of all ages/genders for multiple reasons. It was easy to love him and root for him as a baby face, and because he was also so ‘perfect’ he was just as easy to hate.

I have always loved John Cena. I got back into WWE in 2004 and this was his rap stage and it was incredible, everyone loved the man and his promos always stood out, even my Dad who didn’t give two shits about wrestling loved watching his matches and promos.

Moving away from this gimmick into his Never Give Up, the man for the kids, the man for everyone to look up to was due to WWE going PG. A lot of guys who clearly didn’t have a father figure in their life, hated him. For young kids though, he is the best there ever was.

His ring ability - move sets are limited but so are the majority of greats. He spent years doing surprise moves, and he always amazed people by doing the FU/AA to people like The Big Show or Great Khali. He could legitimately lift these guys and throw them and that is incredible. Also his moves are memorable.

He has done the most make a wish visits - whether you love him in the ring or not. That’s instant GOAT status.

He makes MONEY for the company. His merchandise sells. Sells a lot.

He is well known. Even for those who don’t watch wrestling they still know him. Mainly thanks to his movies now, but there is no denying that he brought more popularity to WWE to those who didn’t care for wrestling.

His rivalries have always been enjoyable, the back and forth promos with The Rock. The super fun rivalry with Edge - I’ll always remember that one by far. The rivalry with CM Punk!

He has spent the years putting over talent, and yer people act like he doesn’t care about anyone else. Just because you hate the man doesn’t mean you should ignore everything he has accomplished and helped others achieve.

John Cena is one of the greats, he will be cemented in history for everything he accomplished in and out of the ring. He is one of the highly spoken about superstars by his coworkers.

I knew his retirement would eventually come, but it still broke my heart and I cried. That is the impact he has always had.
That is why he is a GOAT. I’m excited for the year to come and I do hope he gets another title shot and breaks the record because what an incredible way to send him off.

I’ve been waiting for this thread and it’s been here the whole time.

I loved John Cena when he started the rapping gimmick. I was at the age where freestyle rapping was awesome. I even made some rap music.

Then I just grew out of wrestling. Not because of Cena, but because of alcohol, weed and pussy.

John Cena is way better than cry baby Bret Hart. I’ll start there. His reign as champion is not worse then HHHs reign. I think Cena felt the after effects of Triple H when it comes to ratings. To be honest, Hunter being the main draw was really some of the worst shit ever. Then Cena had to follow that up.

I won’t call John Cena the GOAT, but younger kids will. He did his job and he did it brilliantly. I hope he breaks Flairs record.
