I agree it’s not a big deal, but the last round apparently people did vote for themselves and no one knew until the end of the round when points were given out. So how did that ruin the anonymity? I voted for Blindy and not myself, but I didnt know his song at all so felt stupid to vote for a song I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️

Obviously not a big deal, but I just don’t get why everyone seems to think it effects the anonymity of it

I knew, because I know who has what songs. I contacted them directly when I saw it and then announced it at the end.

It makes you feel "stupid" to vote for your opponent's song, just because you don't know it? 

Expanding your musical horizons is a good thing. 

This is something that won't be changed.

Not trying to be a moderator here, but I'd like to end the discussion about it. 

Personally, I think it's fun either way. I am listening to every song and voting for the one I like best. It doesn't matter to me whose is whose. It's been awhile since we've had something fun going on in here past usual threads so thanks CK for taking your time to run this.

Every round I'm picking a Yoko Ono song so my opponent has to vote for it.

I didn’t say I feel stupid, I said it’s stupid to vote for a song you don’t like if the whole point is to vote for the best songs.

I have no issues with expanding my musical horizons, my problem is the idea of voting for the best songs and yet that isn’t what’s happening. We have done games similar to this multiple times on PW, and it’s never been an issue. It’s ok if you want to do something different and it’s your first time trying to do it so you need to work out what works and doesn’t, this is just why I think it doesn’t work and all the rest have worked well.

How about this for a rule?

You can vote for every matchup, except your own.

That would work. It does reveal which matchup yours is, but not the song. Voting by PM would give full anonymity.

For the record I don't mind the current system so I'm fine as it is.

I meant it reveals it to everyone else. They can check which one you didn't vote for.

Alright, sandylea I understand you don't like the rule, but it's not going to change. You can always quit like System. It's not my first time running something like this, but I understand I haven't been here in a longtime and we haven't crossed paths most likely.

If anyone else wants to leave, I can't stop you. I'm just trying to have some fun and do something a little different. If multiple people leave, we'll just shut it down.

Yeah for real , as someone who’s ran a crap ton of things in the past the nitpicking over such an insignificant thing is dumb. It’s literally one key stroke.

So get over it and move on whilst having fun with the game or don’t - but either way it’s probably time to drop it before it ruins the experience for everyone.

With only 12 people for the first go round, the hard part isn't having enough songs to pick from, it's hoping you pick the right song for your matchup.

You might not think every song is a banger, but someone does, and you both can be right. I think each matchup worked out very well.

I will vote Monday since I need to take the time to listen to all the songs and won’t have time today

Damn looking like I am about to be down 1-2, didn't expect to lose this round. Unpleasantly surprised people don't like this song/artist. I can never get sick of this song. My opponent did their thing this round.

Glad to see Beastie getting some love here, too. They should have been a joke on paper but they're so damn talented, they just almost always made it work. Those guys still don't get enough credit imo.

I didn't know many of these songs were written for a movie.

Emperor doing a heel turn and stabbing his fellow Top Gun picker in the back got me second guessing my abilities to pick songs. Shook that PW wasn't digging Kenny FN Loggins. I love Danger Zone and the Synthwave covers of it always get me rolling into work. GG iron maiden.
