Yeah, no way this is a permanent thing. I’m 99% sure this is MJF trolling Will and it will revert back when Will beats him.

But on the other hand. They changed the title’s name after the first year from All-American to International. I wouldn’t put it last AEW to change it. Unofficially, this belt is already on its third name with only 2 years of existence.

It’s MJF trolling but also a callback to Ospreay’s run as IWGP United States Champion. He changed the title to the United Kingdom Championship. After he lost it they created the IWGP Global Championship and retired the US/UK titles.

See.. that’s silly. Not because of what it is. But because AEW does such a poor job connecting the dots for the fans. I don’t follow NJPW. If they are doing a call back to something Will did.. it only makes sense that they would shed light on that during the broadcast. Otherwise it’s just this little jab that the boys and the most hardcore fans get. And the rest of us are like.. I don’t get it. Idk maybe they don’t care what I think.

I think it’s open-ended enough that it doesn’t matter if it’s a callback or not. Like either way MJF is being a disrespectful asshole as usual, and doing all this just to annoy Will Ospreay and walk into Wembley the biggest heel in the company. That added bonus that Will did something similar in NJPW is just an extra layer that some fans will chuckle at. I don’t think it takes anything away from what MJF is doing.

Also I have to say again: the flag having MJF’s face in place of stars was so perfect and hilarious.

RT I’ve looked at that belt like 100x since you first posted that. Can you help me out with it. I only see stars where the stars should be??? Am I missing something?
