Slam Wars
A long, long time ago in a galaxy not too different from our own…
The Apocalypse has been damaged. Their mysterious investor is not happy with what has happened. It appears they may be down and out, but they are not willing to give up. They know of a predicament that can turn things around for them. A new kind of war and torture that will make sure everyone knows their dominance. They want to target their strongest foe which they believe to be The Resistance. Surprisingly, The Apocalypse also promises to grow.
The Resilience is under new leadership. Their new leader is one who has the respect of all of the troops. They believe in him, and he believes in them. He preaches unity as the only way to overcome their devious villains. He trains with them for war. He wants to show them they can topple the beasts. He does not fear the new war coming toward them.
The Queen’s Royal Sportsmen possess the richest prize in the United States Wrestling Federation. Somehow, they still feel like they have been distracted and re-routed. They certainly have their own enemies, and they will not stop until those enemies are taken care of. They want to be able to truly focus on their ultimate goal which is taking down The Apocalypse.
The Apocalypse Sympathizers still haven’t given up. They believe if they can capture the World Tag Team Championships, they can get into The Apocalypse.

Zack Sabre, Jr. [The Queen’s Royal Sportsmen] defeats Nigel McGuiness [The Queen’s Royal Sportsmen] ©
While Gunther has been extremely dominant for The Queen’s Royal Sportsmen, Zack Sabre Jr and Nigel McGuiness have yet to pick up a win. William Regal wanted these two very capable athletes to turn up the intensity and prove their worth to the group. He was able to negotiate with management to arrange for Nigel McGuiness to defend his British Commonwealth Championship in the USWF. Both men want to get their first win in the USWF, and this is their chance. During the match, a lot of technical prowess was on display. There was also a great deal of respect between the two competitors. Nigel got pretty frustrated that he could not put ZSJ away, and the technical match turned into a strike battle. When it came to strikes, Sabre had much more of an advantage, and he was able to put Nigel away and win the championship. After the match, they shook hands.
World Tag Team Championship Match
Strike Force (Tito Santana and Ricky Martel) © defeat The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs and Jerry Saggs)
Brian Knobbs and Jerry Saggs are still trying to join The Apocalypse. After being told no more times than the average white bro in a club, they refuse to take no for an answer. Finally, The Apocalypse gives them a task to prove themselves. If they want to be accepted in the group, they need to capture the World Tag Team Championships. Saggs and Knobbs have been in some donnybrooks, but that might not prepare them for the task at hand. They’re facing Strike Force, a truly talented tag team. Whoever can control the pace of the match will certainly come out on top. Santana and Martel control the early part of the match, and they certainly have the crowd behind them. A short cut turns things in the Nasty Boys direction. They do a lot of damage, but they cannot keep the champions down. They try to cheat, but the official is smart to them. Santana and Martel hit a beautiful double team move to get the victory.
United States Heavyweight Championship Match
Terry Funk © defeats William Regal [The Queen’s Royal Sportsmen]
Terry Funk defeated Bam Bam Bigelow to become the United States Heavyweight Champion in part, thanks to William Regal and the Queen’s Royal Sportsmen. It looked as though the rivalry between Funk and Regal may have gone to the wayside. Then, the two men got into a scuffle during the World Tag Team Championship Match. Funk says he proved he was better than Regal when he did what Regal couldn’t do. Regal, meanwhile, wants nothing more than to put the rivalry with Funk behind him. With The Apocalypse solely focused on The Resilience right now, this is a great opportunity for the other fighters to get stronger and build up their allegiances. Funk, however, wants his revenge on The Queen’s Royal Sportsmen. He still attributes his loss to Gunther as the turning point in his career. During the match, Regal was trying to control the pace of the match. He wanted to outwrestle Funk, but he clearly was evenly matched. Funk used his knowledge of wrestling to control the mat. While was clearly in control, he could not make Regal submit. Therefore, Funk decided to derail the match into a brawl. He threw Regal to the floor and clearly had the advantage here. After a piledriver through the commentary table, Funk scored the pinfall.
World Heavyweight Championship Match
Gunther © [The Queen’s Royal Sportsmen] defeats Eddie Kingston
When Gunther won the World Heavyweight Championship, he vowed to only defend the championship against men of suitable character when given the choice. Since The Apocalypse was deadlocked in war with The Resilience, Gunther was able to choose his own contender. When Eddie Kingston and Terry Funk seemed to have formed a pseudo alliance with The Queen’s Royal Sportsmen, Gunther was impressed with the heart and determination of Kingston. Eddie didn’t feel like he’d earned a championship match. He said he didn’t win that much lately, and the wins he earned didn’t really matter. He wasn’t sure he was ready for a match with Gunther. The champion said Kingston was respectable in character. It was only a matter of whether or not he would accept the challenge. Eddie said it was his dream to win the World Heavyweight Championship, and he certainly wasn’t afraid of Gunther. He just didn’t know if he was ready. Gunther said the only way to be ready for a fight of this caliber was to do it. Eddie agreed, and he said he hoped Gunther didn’t underestimate him. The two had a crazy brawl. They fought each other with all of their hearts. The strike battle showed the tenacity of each man. Kingston refused to give up, and maybe that was his short fall. In the end of the match. Kingston passed out, and Gunther was able to retain his championship.
War Games
The Apocalypse [Stan Hansen, Vader, Sid, Bam Bam Bigelow, and Haku]
Defeat
The Resilience [Bryan Danielson, John “Bradshaw” Layfield, “The All American” Ron Simmons, Kerry Von Erich, and “Dr. Death” Steve Williams]
When Bryan Danielson failed to win the World Heavyweight Championship, he followed through with his promise to join The Resilience. He declared that the reason The Resilience has been having issues is a lack of leadership, so he installs himself as the leader of the group. There is some pushback, but when Layfield says something, Danielson accuses him of trying to sabotage The Resilience. Indeed, Danielson believes there is a mole in The Resilience who is trying to sabotage the group. He cites Layfield letting Simmons down in the World Tag Team Championship Match. He cites Von Erich focused on revenge when he lost the United States Heavyweight Championship. He talks about how ‘Dr. Death’ Steve Williams has never faced a member of The Apocalypse. Danielson said under his leadership, they could overcome even a mole. He wanted to end The Apocalypse once and for all. The Apocalypse appeared vulnerable for the first time since their arrival to the United States Wrestling Federation. It had become clear that their mysterious investor was not happy with them. Stan Hansen declared their only move was all out war. They needed to put The Resilience down once and for all. They did not fear The Resilience even under the leadership of Bryan Danielson. Hansen declared that the only thing to do was destroy The Resilience as a united force. Vader suggested they go head to head in war games. The Apocalypse knew they were vulnerable for the first time in history, but they were still united which may not be true of The Resilience. The two teams would face off inside the merciless structure known as War Games. Only one team would walk out. That’s not just dramatic phrasing. Both teams were so confident of their victory they put their status as a team on the line. The losing team must disband.
When the match began, Kerry Von Erich and Vader started things. The Apocalypse won the coin toss, and Sid joined his partner, beating down Von Erich. Another Texan joined the fray as Layfield entered second for The Resilience. Haku was the third entry for The Apocalypse. Simmons came to the rescue of the Texan duo. Bam Bam Bigelow and “Dr. Death” Steve Williams were the fourth entries for their respective teams. Hansen was the final entrant for The Apocalypse. When the final buzzer went off for the match beyond to begin, Danielson produced two chains. He then used the two chains to close the cage. He grabbed the microphone and announced his team surrendered without entering the match. Layfield, Simmons, Williams, and Von Erich were stricken with peril as they watched their supposed leader cheer on The Apocalypse. He handed Hansen a branding iron so that he could brand all four members of the fallen resilience. Danielson announced that he was the one funding The Apocalypse. He talked about the night he announced his retirement. He talked about how he knew what he said was wrong. He had to find a way back in. He was addicted to professional wrestling, and he wasn’t looking for a twelve step plan. He created a monster only he could slay. When he unleashed The Apocalypse on the USWF, he knew they would beg him to stay. He knew they would insist he was the only one who could stop them. However, The Resilience was formed. The Queen’s Royal Sportsmen came into the fold. Guys like Eddie Kingston, Terry Funk, and Strike Force wanted to fight The Apocalypse. They all thought they could tame the beast. Danielson wanted to prove they were wrong. He was the only one who could tame The Apocalypse. He was the only one who could control The Apocalypse, and he was going to use The Apocalypse to make them all pay for thinking they could keep this company going without him.
