Brady was just plain more likeable in Tampa once he got away from the Evil Empire. Getting sauced at the Super Bowl parade was iconic.
It also helped that he was the underdog for the first time in about 15 years. People thought he was washed because it was easier to call him old rather than see that the Patriots roster was actually pretty shit. Instead, he turned around and instantly took a perennial sub-500 team to the Lombardi.

I was never a big Tom Brady fan until late in his career; the fact that he was becoming an "old man" defying the forces of entropy made him a lot more likable, to me. His quest to win became bigger than football. I was a lot more invested in Bucs Brady than I ever was in Pats Brady. Same here. I was a Peyton Guy so that naturally made me a Brady hater. Couldn't stand the guy. But came to love old man Brady. It's like in wrestling when everyone, even former haters, start cheering that grizzled veteran making a comeback, or clearly on the last run of his career. LA Rams (pre and post but never St.Louis!) Interesting! What's the story here? Big Eric Dickerson fan in the 80's and have been a Matt Stafford fan since he broke in with the Lions. Plus the bright blue and yellow unis are the sharpest in the NFL. That whole cheesy story of Kurt Warner going from bagging groceries to the Superbowl was tiresome. Hearing about the rest of the "greatest show on turf" was also annoying with Isaac Bruce, Marshall Faulk, Torry Holt etc. God's gift to football for those few years, ugh. It was very painful seeing Tennessee come up that 1 yard short in the Superbowl. I so wanted that rags to riches story of Warner to be ruined. We also have the Regina Rams here in university football and they sported originally a green and white now green and gold version of the Rams helmet. That too was a big factor in latching onto them early on in my football viewing.

Big Eric Dickerson fan in the 80's Same here. Even had his Starting Lineup! Us glasses wearers had to stick together. But I was more a Colts era Dickerson guy. Only caught the tail end of his Rams run. Truth. Best ever. (Chargers powder blues a solid runner up) Aww. BOO! I was a Greatest Show On Turf guy. Liked all those guys you mentioned, was super into Warner's 'cheesy' story, and thought it was cool to see the Rams rebound after being a laughingstock for most of the 90s.

I can't say that I was or was not into St. Louis Warner, but I did like him in Arizona. Getting unceremoniously canned in New York, and then signed to another team who made their own investment in a young QB with Matt Leinart, made him an interesting starter. I was not secretly rooting for Arizona against the Eagles in the '08-'09 playoffs. I also liked the Steelers, so it was a no-lose in the Super Bowl, but I definitely would have preferred it had Warner come out on top.

I grew up near Toronto and so I just kind of started rooting for all the teams there. The early 90s were a good time. If only I knew how it would pan out.
Cheered for the Blue Jays and they won back to back World Series. How could I go wrong?
Cheered for the Maple Leafs and they made the Conference Finals only to get screwed against Wayne Gretzky’s LA Kings. Oh well they’ll be back……
Buffalo Bills made the Super Bowl 4 years in a row! Surely they will win one….
I chose Arsenal because I hated Manchester United and a friend told me that means I should become a Gooner. I looked and they were coming off an undefeated season. What luck! Can’t wait to see them win another title soon!
(To be fair I did watch some of the Invincibles season but I hadn’t really chosen a side yet at that point. I’m gonna count it just because I will cry if I don’t)
Thank goodness I got into basketball when a certain player out of North Carolina started tearing it up in Chicago. At least that choice went well. And my years of rooting for the Raptors as my backup team also eventually paid off. I can take those ones to the grave at least. And Toronto FC winning the MLS Cup over Seattle was nice, especially after losing to them in the finals the year before. Been watching that team since their first season and the fact they actually took home a championship is pretty crazy.

Hated the outcome but that's still my favorite SB ever strictly from a consistent entertainment perspective. Giants>Pats I was more iconic but that one was way more fun from start to finish. Never rooted for a team that wasn't my own quite like I did for those Cards. I was absolutely gutted for them, and the fact it was Shittsburgh + OSU alum Santonio Holmes beating them an ass hair away from the end made it twist even deeper. Steelers actually earned that one but those fans + Larry deserved at least 1 ring. Brady was just plain more likeable in Tampa once he got away from the Evil Empire. At that point you were just being salty if you couldn't acknowledge it + that Bucs team was super fun to watch. In hindsight, hard to believe I was rooting for the Chiefs then... *physically shudders* He'd already done enough imo w/28-3 to be called the GOAT but really had to get away from Bill to end that stupid System QB debate.

I remember 🤯 asked me on his podcast a while back so I posted this here why I choose for rooting my teams. First, and foremost where I live we don’t have no professional sports team whatsoever just college the closest for pro sports is in Arizona(in NFL the cardinals but let’s face it their fan base are paid actors!), the Suns in the NBA and some other teams they have for MLB and NHL. -49ers no secret that I’m a Niners fan reason why because my RIP was a Niners fan. True story he passed away back in 1994 the same year which was the last time the Niners won the Super Bowl I was in school at the time! -Bulls this is going to sound corny but fuck it lol. The first sight is the logo always love the Bulls logo and that intro theme song was awesome got me hook, and then of course I was grateful to watch in my lifetime the GOAT Michael Jordan I remember when I was in elementary school at the time when that year the Bulls won the first championship against the Lakers when Michael Jordan going for the layup switch from his left him to his right hand. I did try that one time in PE when I was in middle school yeah couldn’t do it lol but oh well! But it got me hook in basketball and rooting for the Chicago Bulls and still root for the Bulls even though they have been terrible for decades now since MJ retired.

I was actually a Bulls/Pacers fan growing up. Turns out I was just a Michael Jordan/Reggie Miller fan lol and later settled on Cavs/Sonics/ Raptors Vince Carter when both retired. Kind of wish I'd chose Indiana sometimes (a lot closer to me). I weirdly still have a soft spot for both despite being rivals. Also, soccer might not be your thing but I'd check out a New Mexico United match once if you ever can just for the vibes alone. Apparently it's a fun time + they're really well supported. Personally I've always wanted to go to an Isotopes game. Have family in Clovis actually but she's batshit crazy lol

I don't even remember how I got into the teams I did. I started watching a lot of sports back in my teens: CFL, NFL, NBA and some hockey.
CFL - I should cheer for the Esks/Elks as it's my hometown team but I was enamored with the Argos team. I mean how can you not love some Pinball Clemmons? It's sacrilege.
NFL - The closest team to me is either the Seahawks or the Vikings and I went with neither and went East to Buffalo. Must be the Ontario in me. I started watching around the time Jim Kelly started with them 86/87 which led to some golden moments as the team became one of the best teams ever, but led to major heartbreak in the 90's as they made it to the dance 4 times and lost every time. Tough time being a Bills fan. I stopped watching faithfully after I had my daughter in 1998 and started watching/following again about 3-4 years ago.
Boy I loved me some NBA. Started watching around 86/87. Pistons and Bulls were the teams I followed. It was tough when they were against one another which they often were. I saw the rise of Jordan. Saw Larry Bird and Magic play. I could name a bunch more but, it was a great time to watch and collect basketball cards which I did. I also gave them away when I got married cause I'm a fool. I tried watching again over the years, but it's just not the same.
Hockey - well I've always followed the Oilers and why not. I was alive and got to experience being an Edmontonian during the run of one of the greatest players and dynasties ever in the history of the sport and almost again last year. 2025 is our year.

I do appreciate him trying to give AB a 2nd shot at redemption before his CTESPN kicked in though.

NFL: I became a Steelers fan because people in my family were Steelers fans (probably hopping on the bandwagon during the 70s). I just started cheering for them as well.
NBA: I became a Bulls fan because I from Illinois. It was also easy to do because of how good they were in the 90s.😂
MLB: Living in Western Illinois, one would have thought I'd have became a Cardinals fan, especially since all of my family are Cardinals fans as well. Instead I became a Cubs fan (probably to the chagrin of my family). It's been rough at times, but at least 2016 made it great.
NCAA: I root for the Fighting Illini in basketball, since they're generally a good team in that sport (though they did have a spell of missing the NCAA tournament for a bit). I never followed them in football, since the college version of the game bores me for the most part, and Illinois has never really been good in the sport (except maybe back in the 1930s😂).

Oof, that had to make for some awkward dinners. Saw way more Cards flags in Western IL than I did when visiting family in Missouri recently, which was pretty wild actually. Always flip off Busch anytime I drive through STL to get there. Started as me being a petty teenager, now it's just tradition. Bad vacation juju always happens when I don't flip off their (admittedly beautiful) shitcan of a ballpark.

I'm actually really looking forward to Brady in the booth. There's been this weird consensus that people want him to fail because of how he's been put straight into Fox's #1 team (I like Greg Olsen but you'd think the guy invented football) but I don't see why. We saw with Romo that a commentators real value comes in their first couple of years out of the league because they are still very familiar with the schemes and players.

System you should jump onboard the PW Texans train. Todd becoming a Texans fan is the most glorious thing about PW in recent years. I remember the time he had a Justin Reid av when he was about the last good player we had I fucking loved that(had such high hopes for that guy and was gutted when they let him go). They are the youngest team in the NFL and were set up to fail by the league when they launched as an expansion team. That whole expansion draft was rigged, full of players that were toast(some that hadn't even played at all in years, many that had made it clear they were retiring) and bad contracts that guaranteed the team would have to reset in a couple of years and start all over again. The other 31 NFL owners did not want a repeat of the 1996 expansion teams(Panthers/Jaguars) that were in their conference championship in year 2 and made sure that wouldn't happen. The only reason the Texans exist is because the NFL needed a 32nd team to even out the conferences, and a Houston billionaire just happened to have enough money to capitalize on a failed LA group that couldn't get their shit together in time. Completely by chance that this team even does exist at all. By all accounts considering evertything, this team shouldn't really exist at all and was never meant to. So there were some key figures in Dallas owner Jerry Jones and Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams that really just wanted this Houston market for their own teams to have like a home away from home. The Titans used to play here as the Oilers and he still had a fascination with the city and felt like he would have more fans of his Titans team than the new expansion team would have. Jones has a massive ego and thinks he owns the whole state and that Houston would be Cowboys town(we kicked their ass and ran them out of town in our very first ever game in 2002 in a huge upset, made Jones cry, I've been a fan ever since). We were never meant to have a competitive team that was meant to be popular at all. The team got little to no coverage and was almost like they didn't really exist for years. Even last year our rookie QB had the best rookie QB season ever(that's fact, not opinion) and just felt like it was way undersold by sports media because he played for the wrong team. Last season was probably the best year yet honestly. We brought back a former player to be head coach Demeco Ryans and the whole culture of the team started to form into something special all of it's own. We shed some demons in beating the Titans in their own stadium in a game where they were wearing the old Houston Oilers uniforms. When the Oilers left Houston to move to Tennessee in 1997 that state did not want those colors or that team name so they changed into the Tennessee Titans that we have today(after 2 years of them playing to an empty stadium and no fan support as the Oilers). At one point maybe 5 years or so ago they de-emphasized the columbia blue color even more with a darker blue theme change on their uniforms. When the Texans were having some good years in 2018-2019 some of our popular players started wearing throwback Houston Oilers stuff to press conferences and posting on social media about our team being able to wear those old uniforms. This pissed off the Tennessee ownership. In an act of pettiness the Titans started bringing back the Oilers gear this year and put up a fight when we tried to incorporate that shade of light blue into our color scheme this year(the color is like a Houston trademark even before the Oilers). They even sued a Houston college team for them wearing similar colors last year they got a cease and desist order from the NFL. So we went up to their stadium last year and beat them while they were wearing our old uniforms in what is my favorite win ever and probably one of the most glorious meaningful regular season wins ever in NFL history. It's just crazy the backstory of that game with the visual of those two uniforms going at it and all the years of build up behind it. The pic in my signature is our kicker nailing the game winning field goal that won the game(our backup QB that won the game played for the same college in Houston that got the C&D order to stop wearing those colors). Their owner(Bud Adam's daughter, he passed away years ago) was so pissed over the loss that she reportedly threw a huge tantrum and fired the Titans head coach over it at the end of the season(who was actually pretty good). Some major demons were put to bed that day and I feel like that whole game was symbolic of this team finally growing of age into it's own, out of the shadow of the Houston Oilers(which at their peak were crazy popular in Houston in the 70's and had a legacy that overshadowed the Texans, the Oilers old stadium the Astrodome is literally just a few feet right next to the newer stadium that was built for the Texans in 2002). After 3 years of being the laughing stock of the NFL 2020-2021-2022 and basically everybody jumping ship, nobody going to games anymore, their games not coming on tv anymore due to low attendance, they suddenly became a legit threat through the course of last season with our rookie QB CJ Stroud. The final game of the regular season they flexed us into a primetime TV slot in a win and get in game with a playoff spot on the line. We really shined in winning that game it was glorious. Then destroyed our playoff opponent in one of our biggest wins ever. We fell short in the second round of the playoffs against a much more established powerhouse of the conference. Now we are loaded up with even more talent this year and more experience and about to rip shit up. Jump in the wagon bubba while you can now. I been waiting 23 years for a season like the one we are about to have.

Stroud was completely undersold until they made the playoffs. Us Buckeyes fans knew he was special. Though even I was surprised just how much he flourished in year 1. I still want at least one revenge win for the early 2010's (JJ can't hurt us anymore, dammit!) but I also love seeing CJ/Texans thrive.

Everyone loves CJ Stroud what are we talking about here? 🤪 I dont have cable or listen to podcasts so I may just have missed it but just felt like when they would show highlights on a halftime show or on pregame shows he was just undersold, this is football Jesus the messiah and I didnt feel like he was put up on that pedestal properly. You cant deny it would be way different type of coverage for last year had he played for Pittsburgh, Green Bay, Dallas, or the Giants? You disagree with that?

As soon as Stroud had his breakout game against the Bucs he became one of the most talked about players in the league, you are acting like he got snubbed for OROY or something.

I dont know man, the lack of coverage for what he did in the Tampa game was what bothered me. Halftime and pregame shows showed 1 play and moved on like no big deal, he wasnt really talked about the next weekend on pregame shows or any of the mainstream news coverage that popped up in my feed. I would agree he got more love than Love but that guy was like in his 3rd year and played with Rodgers? Im talking historically easily one of if not THE best rookie performances EVER by a QB, yet when Dak Prescott was doing what he did in 2017 man it was fucking front page lead in headline Jesus walking on water shit. Andrew Luck 2012 they were ready to crown him face of the whole league put his silhouette in the logo shit. Come on you really telling me CJ got that level of coverage for what he did last year? No fucking way. Nobody wanted the Texans to be good or wanted them on their tv or to talk about them last year.

Love sat behind Rodgers and had the youngest team in the NFL and no one gave a chance to and had an incredible second half of the season.
Hell he almost mirrored CJs entire statline in his last 8 games with 20TDs and 3 INTs.
Also Stroud is the second best odds to win MVP this year. No one is sleeping on him - the overlooked card is laughable.

I think going off of last year's stats Baker Mayfield might be the most underappreciated QB in the NFL today but he's just had so many high's and low's, you don't know what to expect. Now with a new OC, we are going to see if it was a transformation in Tampa Bay or not.

I think going off of last year's stats Baker Mayfield might be the most underappreciated QB in the NFL today but he's just had so many high's and low's, you don't know what to expect. Now with a new OC, we are going to see if it was a transformation in Tampa Bay or not. Ohh I actually like this one, the best post I've seen on this overrated/underrated debate. Cleveland don't get enough shit for dumping him a season (that he played through injury) after he led them to their first playoff win in forever, to replace him with a sexual predator. And more touchdowns and less interceptions than Mahomes last season!
