Do they bother you, do you even take notice?
Has a member leaving put you off listening to a band?
If so what band was it and why?

At the 2020 reggae fest I went to I was so stoked to see Sublime With Rome in Sublimes hometown Long Beach where it all started. Pi told me once they killed it live at a show he seen and sounded just like the original. So I caught them the first night on the main stage and within 3 songs was not feeling it at all. The singer didn’t remotely sound anything close to Sublime, the whole vibe was off entirely. Other than having the same bass player, who seemed old tired, barely interested in being there going through the motions, this band had no relation to Sublime with Brad Nowell. It was basically this Rome guys new band that played very poor versions of Sublime covers mixed in with his original songs that didnt sound anything at all like what Sublime would. So basically they were just cashing in on the Sublime name. I didnt like that and walked out of their set, the rest of the crowd seemed to like them.

Daisy leaving Manson ruined the band for me. His guitar made the original release from them, and they never were the same after.
IMO all bands that worked with Charlie Clouser were the best when he was in the band, despite most people not realizing who he is. NIN, Manson, Prong, White Zombie and Rob Zombie all were best when he was on their stuff. Guys is just the best at his trademark industrial sound.

Also was blessed to see the full OG lineup of Black Sabbath at Ozzfest 2004, surreal out of body experience. To me thats not BS without Bill Ward on drums, its like Black Sabbath with an asterisk.
Same for Pantera, I would have been ok with Zakk filling in for Dime when Vinnie was alive that would have meant something to see him Rex and Phil patched up but without Vince its like whats the point, dont think they should be calling what they are doing without those brothers Pantera, call it something else. Same as Sublime with Rome just a cheap cash in for them to make some money.

Biggest upgrade would likely be Corey Taylor replacing Anders Colsefini in Slipknot. Once that swap happened the band instantly blew up.
Gilmore replacing Syd for Floyd was a huge upgrade too. Syd was good at once style, but Gilmore went the distance with the band through a large variety of styles.

Guns N' Roses is one of the big ones, and I think it's probably one of the fewer instances of where the band retains the lead singer, but somehow the other members seem just as significant to the general listenership. The sound of Chinese Democracy is very different from anything else the band had produced, but I still enjoyed it a lot. I feel like Axl has had a lot of Dr. Dre syndrome here, and he probably could have made this album in a few years at the same level of quality; but his own eccentricities prevented him from doing so ... and so it took fifteen years, instead. 😆

Honestly I’ve never noticed too much or cared unless it’s the lead singer that changed. I was upset when Paramore changed originally but I still enjoyed their music, but with the lead singer it’s definitely more obvious.
The band Hinder, the singer had a very distinct voice, once he left - the songs just sounded bland. It could still be good music but I honestly haven’t given it much of a chance to know for sure

I like Van Hagar. Other than 1984 most of the DLR stuff was a little before my time. As I got older I learned to appreciate the original Van Halen music. Two different styles of music from the same band and I like them both.

Another big one for me is Killswitch Engage. I remember seeing them plastered all over the Roadrunner website in 2002 when they first came out and brushed them off as another bullshit nu metal band they were pushing like so much of the garbage they had going on at that time. I think I finally heard some stuff of their first album early on in 2003 and was blown away, that band was really special for that time and something really fresh for metal. The singer was amazing, Jesse Leach, but right as I was getting into them in 2003 they were in the process of replacing him with Howard Jones. I finally got my hands on Alive Or Just Breathing by 2004 and I'd say it was my favorite album for a solid couple of years there. I didn't think Howard Jones was as good or that End Of Heartache was on the level of Alive Or Just Breathing, but still thought they were cool and was rooting for them to blow up. They never really achieved the success I thought they would, the 2006 album was super underwhelming disappointment to me and it was apparent that the band just wasn't the same without Leach. Jones was cool for sure but his lyrics were all sad emo woe is me stuff, heartbreak, I'm depressed miss my girl that left me stuff. It got old. His screaming was all one dimensional and had already got old by his second album with the band. By 2009 when that album came out I was over them missing the old days thinking KSE was just a missed opportunity type of scenario.
Then in 2013 I seen a new KSE album on the shelves at Hastings(RIP), I still had a CD player and was buying CD's still, looking for something new to jam I figured I'd give it a shot. I had no idea that Jesse had rejoined the band for that album so when I put that album in and heard that voice that was one of my favorite moments ever listening to music. I fucking love that album and have been listening to it a lot the last week. To me they immediately sounded better with Leach back in the lineup. But it blows my mind that whenever you read comments anywhere its KSE fans missing Howard Jones saying he was better. The two albums KSE put out after that 2013 reunion haven't been as good but I'm still definitely team Leach, the OG singer was the best. It's a shame that they couldn't keep him around for their peak 2004-2006 I believe creatively he would have made them even better than they already were. His lyrics were on another level, different from typical Metal stuff, songs about hope, fighting back, believing in yourself, getting your ass back up off the rock bottom, inspiring stuff. He had a lot of other dimensions as a singer also.
