To celebrate the game’s 25th anniversary, it’s been revealed that Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 + 2 are getting remastered for both PS5 and PS4.

The game will include remastered graphics, although details about other improvements are light.

To go along with this, Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen is going to the PS1 Classic list for the PS5 next month too and it has (some) tie in with these games although they play very different.

Happy these games are coming out with some touchups even if it isn't a full blown remake. Probably doesn't happen without SquareEnix's sale of the Eidos/Crystal Dynamics games to Embracer 2 or so years ago.

Tomb Raider got a collection, now Legacy of Kain, it's going to be Gex or Fear Effect's turn next for sure.


Back to this, never played them but I know RagnarokMike likes them. Amy Hennig the lead writer/creative head of Uncharted 1-2 was behind these games and everyone says these are really well-written games. The only controversy is Aspyr who is the developers behind the remasters botched the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection one earlier this year which was a dud.

While I am glad to see some attempt to bring them back, if they don’t lead to a Defiance remaster and an actual final chapter, doesn’t really heal my wounds. I own all the originals still, an actual conclusion is all I care about.

Maybe it's time to move on from ps4? Hope it sells well to justify finishing off the story.
