31 releases, that fit into the general horror aesthetic of Halloween. Not just stuff that mentioned Halloween but more so releases that could be considered disturbing or horror.
Also there is no albums I’ve already reviewed. Love to hear your own recommendations also!

DAY ONE Frances the Mute The Mars Volta(2005) While the disturbing element is much more in the concept of the album regarding a prostitute living in a small town that’s controlled by the Catholic Church. No concrete explanation can be found but theories can be found online like below. https://www.reddit.com/r/themarsvolta/comments/9gqkmu/my_whole_interpretation_of_frances_the_mute/ I also found the initial spark for this album fascinating “Jeremy Ward, audio artist for The Mars Volta until his death, had previously worked as a repo man. One day, Ward discovered a diary in the backseat of a car he was repossessing, and began to note the similarities between his life and that of the author—most notably, that they had both been adopted. The diary told of the author's search for his biological parents, with the way being pointed by a collection of people, their names being the basis for each named track of Frances the Mute.” - Wiki The lyrical content is hauntingly beautiful and Cedric Bixler-Zavala‘s vocals are next level here. Also highly recommend their debut “De-Loused in the Comatorium” another concept on album of a man who enters a coma after eating a mixture of morphine and rat poison.

DAY TWO
Girl with Basket of Fruit Xiu Xiu (2019) Not all art is made to be pleasant and this is no exception, definitely not an album to dance along to but a harsh and abstract listen that wouldn’t feel out of place in a David Lynch film (side note: his albums are good too). Timely as Xiu Xiu just released their new album “ 13" Frank Beltrame Italian Stiletto with Bison Horn Grips “ as well, though I’m yet to listen to it as of writing.

Also there is no albums I’ve already reviewed. Love to hear your own recommendations also! Not sure about Halloween themed but I feel like electronic music nails this the best for me, since being unnerved is so much about atmosphere. Not that other genres can't do that too, but artificially created music lends itself better to an otherworldly quality. It may not fit here but "Geogaddi" ~ Boards of Canada always makes my ears want to take a shower. There's just something about it that gets under my skin. Also almost anything Aphex Twin, who I presume you're familiar with. Ironically, both of those artists have also created some of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard, too. If we're getting more on the nose here instead of just 'vibes', I'd recommend "6 Feet Deep" ~ Gravediggaz which is seen as a touchstone record for the horrorcore sub-genre of hip hop. 90's Memphis variant is also notoriously dark. Memphis rap is to horrorcore what black metal was to death metal, except no one was burning down churches lol. I'd recommend Tommy Wright III and some early Three-Six Mafia before they became mainstream.

DAY THREE
DMT Sessions Esham (2011) Was introduced to the legend of Esham by a friend of mind that wasn’t very technologically savvy and he wanted me to burn all Esham’s albums to CD for him because he was still rocking a discman (this was in 2011). So I acquired all the albums for him and put them on my iTunes. Yes “Boomin’ Words from Hell” or the horrorcore classic “KKKill the Fetus” would have been a more fitting choice but I can’t stand when the instrumentals drown out the MC on hip-hop releases. Plus this more than holds its own especially with the title track being one of my favourites. Hugely influential artist in this genre.

[iframe title="YouTube video player" width="560" height="349" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/T6HIifwp4MM?wmode=transparent&start=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="1"][/iframe] GWAR with a boring ass acoustic guitar is hilarious to me. Didn't even bother to get a black one.

DAY SIX
CALIGULA Lingua Ignota (2019) Tracklist 1. "Faithful Servant Friend of Christ" 4:42 2. "Do You Doubt Me Traitor" 9:34 3. "Butcher of the World" 6:33 4. "May Failure Be Your Noose" 4:32 5. "Fragrant Is My Many Flower'd Crown" 5:07 6. "If the Poison Won't Take You My Dogs Will" 6:30 7. "Day of Tears and Mourning" 4:43 8. "Sorrow! Sorrow! Sorrow!" 6:31 9. "Spite Alone Holds Me Aloft" 7:24 10. "Fucking Deathdealer" 2:32 11. "I Am the Beast" 7:53 Enough of the Campy Halloween stuff back to horror and trauma. I’ve covered Ignota’s 2021 album “Sinner Get Ready” in The Fantano 10s thread pwcom.proboards.com/thread/5568/fantano-10s And it’s saying something that I found this album more unsettling considering the themes of the aforementioned release. Like “Girl with Basket of Fruit” this definitely isn’t easily listening and Ignota’s vulnerable lyrics are given justice by her incredible vocal style.

This doesn't fit the overall aural trappings of the music mentioned so far, but it *is* Halloween themed, so I am going to plug--as I am apt to do--my former college professor once more, with his song "You Have to Spend the Night in a Haunted House" by his punk outfit, Code of the Jaguar. It's kind of a jangly pop punk ... sort of like Dennis Lyxzen's Fake Names, but sans the darker, emotional inertia. A very catchy tune.

Frances the Mute is a really good album System . Listening to the entire Cassandra Gemini track(s) is a journey. Two albums that stick out for me when it comes to this theme would be... (Dark Synthwave at it's best, always finds a way to my playlist for Halloween season. Dance with the Dead have a couple of albums that fit this theme but this album has some bangers. "Invader", "Dressed to Kill", "Andromeda", are my 3 favorite tracks) (Anything Ice Nine Kills does is a total Halloween tribute. I preferred their 1st album since doing a full blown Halloween theme and tribute to horror flicks, Welcome to Horrorwood: The Silver Scream I. This album has tracks that pay tribute to Halloween, Saw, Jaws, The Crow, Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Shining, It, American Werewolf in London, Edward Scissorhands, The Devils Rejects, Silent Night/Deadly Night and Scream They are going to do a Terrifier themed track this Halloween I think next week?)

DAY SEVEN
Tomorrow’s Harvest Boards of Canada (2013) Tracklist 1. "Gemini" 2:56 2. "Reach for the Dead" 4:47 3. "White Cyclosa" 3:13 4. "Jacquard Causeway" 6:35 5. "Telepath" 1:32 6. "Cold Earth" 3:42 7. "Transmisiones Ferox" 2:18 8. "Sick Times" 4:16 9. "Collapse" 2:49 10. "Palace Posy" 4:05 11. "Split Your Infinities" 4:28 12. "Uritual" 1:59 13. "Nothing Is Real" 3:52 14. "Sundown" 2:16 15. "New Seeds" 5:39 16. "Come to Dust" 4:07 17. "Semena Mertvykh" 3:30 This group is not the only recommendation that will feature in this thread, with “Boards of Canada” mentioned by rad for good reason. Unsettling instrumental music that gives you an overwhelming feeling of isolation. I didn’t put any film scores/soundtracks on this list but this would fit perfectly as one Maybe it’s just the unknown element that you conjure up what the music is saying without lyrics that gives it its ominous tone or maybe it’s maybelline.

DAY NINE
The Silver Scream Ice Nine Kills (2018) Another album that was on the list before being recommend (by Blindy) and for great reason. This is probably the most fitting entry on the list. Every track is based on a horror film and for a subgenre I don’t really listen to I enjoyed it. As for Terrifier 3, track wasn’t in the film which was a bit of a let down. I went to an advance screening so maybe that has something to do with it.

Song drops in a few hours, thought it would be in the film! Turns out it is just not in the Australian version, probably because we are in the future and didn’t want to leak the song. Explains why the lights stayed off despite no after credits too.

DAY TEN
First Come,First Served Kool Keith (AKA Dr Dooom)(1999) Kool Keith (and his many aliases) is a hugely influential artist and this album is cited as a person favourite among hip-hop heads for good reason. Much like MF DOOM (who DOOM cited as a huge influence) there’s alter egos and storyline’s a plenty. Not just your standard horrorcore fare it taps into the more bizarre and secondary elements of horror and makes for a great listen.

DAY ELEVEN Visions of Bodies Being Burned clipping. (2020) Tracklist A horror themed hip-hop album that doesn’t fall into the cheesy avenues that horrorcore tends to fall into a lot. A spiritual sequel to 2019’s “There Exists an Addiction to Blood” only slightly edging that out for the spot. If you like Death Grips. JPEGMafia or just experimental stuff, definitely check this out.

The Wraith: Hell’s Pit Insane Clown Posse (2004)
Tracklist Say what you will about the clowns but they have a massive following, were huge in the 2000s and to top it off are massive wrestling fans, even owning a company and getting in the ring themselves. Huge influence on the horrorcore genre (also cite the aforementioned Esham as their influences) and an act that embodies Halloween all year around. This was the most suggested album in their discography and it didn’t disappoint, the below track especially. br]

Man I still remember the little window there in 97-98 when ICP was really cool and were taken semi-seriously as rappers. The Great Malenko is still a cool album to me. I loved them when I was 14 I can't lie, but damn I outgrew them fast, by 10th grade lol. Still fun times singing those songs with friends in junior high.
If this thread has no Type O Negative I'm starting a PW riot like 1992 LA type riot

20 Jazz Funk Greats Throbbing Gristle (1979) Tracklist 1. "20 Jazz Funk Greats" 2:51 2. "Beachy Head" 3:42 3. "Still Walking" 4:56 4. "Tanith" 2:20 5. "Convincing People" 4:54 6. "Exotica" 2:53 Side B 1. "Hot on the Heels of Love" 4:24 2. "Persuasion" 6:36 3. "Walkabout" 3:04 4. "What a Day" 4:38 5. "Six Six Sixties" 2:07 Everything about this album is misleading, from the title to the artwork. It isn’t jazz funk nor is it 20 tracks. The artwork is a photo taken at Beachy Head the most infamous suicide spot in England. The 1981 re-issue is more controversial. So what do you actually get? Industrial music before that was even a thing, being the inventors of the sound. Even more influential than Skinny Puppy in this genre, if you want more experimental sounding stuff like the Xiu Xiu or Lingua Ignota albums mentioned check this out.
