DAY SEVENTEEN
Kill Cannibal Corpse (2006) 1. The Time to Kill is Now 2. Make Them Suffer 3. Murder Worship 4. Necrosadistic Warning 5. Five Nails Through the Neck 6. Purification by Fire 7. Death Walking Terror 8. Barbaric Bludgeonings 9. The Discipline of Revenge 10. Brain Removal Device 11. Maniacal 12. Submerged in Boiling Flesh 13. Infinite Misery My second favourite CC album behind “Gallery of Suicide” which I mentioned in my favourite albums thread, it also happens to have one of the few album covers I can post on PW uncensored. Like the artwork, it’s direct and to the point..it’s Cannibal Corpse doing what they do best, heavy music with horrific tales.

"Stab Variation" 6:30 If you like Boards of Canada then this will be right up your alley, 48 minutes of atmospheric terror. Highly recommended 2018’s “Konoyo” also.

DAY NINETEEN
Hiss Spun Chelsea Wolfe (2017) Tracklist 1. "Spun" 5:29 2. "16 Psyche" 4:18 3. "Vex" 3:02 4. "Strain" 1:14 5. "The Culling" 6:01 6. "Particle Flux" 4:53 7. "Twin Fawn" 6:07 8. "Offering" 2:50 9. "Static Hum" 4:21 10. "Welt" 1:55 11. "Two Spirit" 5:04 12. "Scrape" 3:04 First heard of Chelsea Wolfe with her second album “ Apokalypsis” which is a great record, as is this. This goes for more of a doom metal approach and delves into personal trauma in similar ways Lingua Ignota’s work does. Slightly more digestible than the former, highly recommend this album for some haunting tunes.

DAY TWENTY
Deathconsciousness Have a Nice Life (2008) Tracklist The Plow That Broke The Plains 1. "A Quick One Before the Eternal Worm Devours Connecticut" 7:52 2. "Bloodhail" 5:40 3. "The Big Gloom" 8:07 4. "Hunter" 9:45 5. "Telefony" 4:38 6. "Who Would Leave Their Son Out in the Sun?" 5:19 7. "There Is No Food" 4:00 The Future 8. "Waiting for Black Metal Records to Come in the Mail" 6:17 9. "Holy Fucking Shit: 40,000" 6:29 10. "The Future" 3:50 11. "Deep, Deep" 5:25 12. "I Don't Love" 6:13 13. "Earthmover" 11:28 The most cliche selection on this list but its spot is well deserved. Up there with Joy Division’s “Closer” as the go to album when you’re at life’s low point.

DAY TWENTY ONE
Storm of the Light’s Bane Dissection (1995) Tracklist 1. At the fathomless depths 2. Night’s Blood 3. Unhallowed 4. Where Dead Angels Lie 5. Retribution - Storm of the Light’s Bane 6. Thorns of Crimson Death 7. Soul Reaper 8. No Dreams Breed in Restless Sleep The second best Black Metal band fronted by a lunatic, this is brought up often in metal groups as one of the best ever released in the genre, rightfully so.

DAY TWENTY TWO
Infinite Granite Deafheaven (2021) Tracklist 1. "Shellstar" 6:06 2. "In Blur" 5:29 3. "Great Mass of Color" 6:00 4. "Neptune Raining Diamonds" 3:05 5. "Lament for Wasps" 7:08 6. "Villain" 5:41 7. "The Gnashing" 5:34 8. "Other Language" 6:10 9. "Mombasa" 8:17 When 2013’s Sunbather came out I loved the instrumentation and the lyrics, however the vocal delivery I was not a fan of at all. I love Black Metal but the vocals were too much even for me and felt drowned out. Turns out I got my wish and they recorded an album with mostly clean vocals. Don’t worry it’s all still doom and gloom though, perfect for the spooky season.

"Season of da Siccness" (featuring Sicx) 3:54 16. "Welcome 2 Your Own Death" (featuring Hyst) 5:19 17. "Real Loccs" 4:15 18. "Inhale with da Devil" 2:23 Another horrorcore classic, was a toss up between this and “Coathanga Strangla” but this list is lacking in pre-2000s stuff so this got the edge. If you like Three Six Mafia, Esham or even early Earl Sweatshirt this should be up your ally.

DAY TWENTY FIVE
Atrocity Exhibition Danny Brown (2016) Influenced by his addiction problems that he is now free of, this is experimental hip-hop at its best and a very daring project. Title influenced from a Joy Division track (that’s also a novel), just like Closer that was disqualified from this list as I’ve already covered, it is a confronting look into a struggling man’s psyche. Shame this album didn’t do well for him commercially as he mentioned in his podcast all the samples on this put him in considerable debt for awhile.

DAY TWENTY SEVEN
Train Wreck Boys Night Out (2005) 1. "Introducing" 3:37 2. "Dreaming" 4:52 3. "Waking" 3:36 4. "Sentencing" 3:28 5. "Medicating" 4:00 6. "Purging" 3:39 7. "Relapsing" 4:55 8. "Recovering" 4:07 9. "Composing" 5:49 10. "Disintegrating" 4:14 11. "Healing" 3:24 12. "Dying" 6:40 Like the first album on this list (Frances the Mute - The Mars Volta) this also another fantastic concept album fit for the spooky season, blatant copy paste job below to explain. Julie Seabaugh of Riverfront Times said it stars a "guilt-stricken doctor, the newly convicted mental patient and the relentless songs in the patient's head alternately advance the plot from hospitals to halfway houses".[9] The Patient is placed in a mental institution for rehabilitation, later being allowed to leave and tries surgery at home where he cuts his hands off.[5] The Patient's frustration is fuelled by the self-inflicted loss of his hands, which Davis said related to the band "wanting to do something, but having never really written any form of real music before, and never being happy with anything we've done".[3] The Patient ends up in various hospitals before succumbing to drug addiction. He starts to become delusional and obsessive with creating music and murdering people. Davies says "the only way he can [convey the song in his head] is by killing people. And it just spirals down a dark and awful descent of this character".[5] Lovat-Fraser said the album ended up "a lot more personal than I meant it to be. There's a lot of me on it. The Patient definitely has a manipulative side".[3] Dupuy plays the deceased wife, "whose ghostly wail methodically crawls up all vertebrae as the most grisly case details are uncovered", according to Seabaugh.[9] All of the songs use one-word titles, in contrast to the long titles of their previous album.[7][10] The album opens and closes with two songs, namely, "Introducing" and "Dying", that feature spoken-word portions from Ken Greenberg.[6][11] Now writer Evan Davies said this narration gave the "whole package a kinda conceptual mental illness/murder vibe

Man I still remember the little window there in 97-98 when ICP was really cool and were taken semi-seriously as rappers. The Great Malenko is still a cool album to me. I loved them when I was 14 I can't lie, but damn I outgrew them fast, by 10th grade lol. Still fun times singing those songs with friends in junior high. If this thread has no Type O Negative I'm starting a PW riot like 1992 LA type riot System gonna hit us with some of the good stuff. Man is cooking with the Halloween themes. Really interesting to see I Dont Want To Be Me moving into 1st for their most popular song over their big "Freebird" hit from their highest selling album(Black No.1) on Amazon Music(this is something that had to have just recently happened or I would have noticed it last year). I'm assuming this song went viral on Tik Tok or something for this to happen but I love it. Always loved Life Is Killing Me(2003) album from the time it came out. Something very cool I discovered by accident a few years ago on the treadmill listening to a Type O Negative playlist around October, with the movie Sleepwalkers playing on cable TV going in the background on mute. The song Anesthesia from that same LIKM album has a really cool effect with the final minutes of that movie, similar to Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon/Wizard Of Ozz thing. I checked it again watching my DVD copy of the movie and it's perfect. If you start the song right at the point where the evil cat demon lady is with the other girl with her son all deformed on the couch near the end, start the track when she drops the needle on the record and it plays perfectly with the final few minutes of the movie. So awesome. Also the version of Nosferatu(1922) that's on Youtube that has their music playing through in the background was fucking bad ass.

Panzerfaust Darkthrone (1995) Tracklist (in English) 1. A Wind of Sorrow 2. Triumphant Gleam 3. The Hordes of Nebulah 4. His Last Winter 5. Beholding the Throne of Might 6. Quintessence 7. Snow and Spruce Forest (Outro) While “Under a Funeral Moon” or “Transilvanian Hunger” (sic) are the obvious choices, Panzerfaust is my favourite of their albums that I’ve actually listened to. Track 6 is their best IMO, bigger discography than Iron Maiden may be a thread down the line
