Wha'd I miss so far, anything good? It’s been by the book so far. The Outrunners made a cameo to celebrate with FTR.

Missed this weekend. So was it all a set up fakeout the whole time or did BCC actually attempt to cripple Yuta and he's fine with that?

Bullet Club were taking over then The Kingdom were taking over, then The Elite were taking over and now the New World Combat Club is taking over.. again.
I'd love for Renee to interview The BCC and sign off after Mox rants about killing someone with, " don't come home tonight Jon " and walk off in disgust.

So … we’re going to get an Elite face turn, aren’t we? Considering they teased Kenny Omega I don’t think so. I think they keep their distance then when all hope is lost for AEW, Omega shows up. This angle is getting to the point where a payoff needs to happen, or a twist in the story, or something. Moxley & Friends showing up every week, killing people, then saying he runs shit now has run its course. Nothing that has been done or said has explained why they turned on Danielson so viciously. He was weak? Dude’s spinal cord is barely attached to his brain, and he still defended the title for almost 2 months. Doesn’t make sense. AEW is stale? Sure, I’ll listen…but your method of “the beatings will continue until morale improves,” has already gone on longer than it should have. I’m still interested and still wondering how this all plays out but I’m slowly getting worried that this actually isn’t going anywhere and after Mox drops the title to Omega or Okada or Darby or whoever, it’ll just fizzle out and he’ll disappear for 3 months.

NJPW is in a slump rn but their latest world title change has me excited. Even TNA is fun. There’s so much to like about everything I just am enjoying the ride.

Meltzer said today the original plans were for Darby to beat Moxley and be the one to retire Danielson at WrestleDream, but they pivoted and created this angle with Moxley/BCC to try and generate more interest in the show.
I'm hesitant to believe Meltzer because we can never tell what he knows and what he is speculating on, but if that's even remotely true then what the fuck. Yeah, Jon Moxley being an invincible killing machine and winning the AEW title has never been done before. Great call, guys.
It's looking more and more like there is no payoff coming and they just turned Moxley heel to try and be interesting. In which case I hate it.
Then again, if Danielson originally wanted to go out by putting Darby over, I have a hard time believing they convinced him to change his mind. That, or they promised him if he comes back after his surgery and works part-time, he'll get to give Darby a rub.

Darby should be no where near a World Title, and if they pivoted to Mox sensing the mistake of having Darby retire Danielson, then it was the right call.
For starters, they'd have to make a smaller belt so it didn't look like a child playing with Cap's shield.

Darby Allin should have all the success that Rey Mysterio had, since he is basically an amalgam of Rey and Jeff Hardy. And WWE loved Rey because of how merch he pushed ... every kid in that audience should be pestering their parent for a Darby Allin mask at an event. Yea, it's face paint, but it doesn't matter. 😂
Darby vs. Sting also should have ended Sting's career!

There's a massive difference between Rey Jr. and Darby Allin.
Massive.
Darby is Spike Dudley on Halloween, who's best asset is his ability to throw himself at an immovable object and not die.
That and he looks ridiculous.
The paint is great, it works well with his skeletor-like body type and that's where any shred of marketability ends. He needs lifts to look halfway convincing in his non-wrestling appearances, then he's out there wearing Jessica Simpson's daisy dukes and stockings and he looks like he stole his jacket from a old hooker.
In the 80s, Mötley Crüe would have confused him for a prostitute and tried to fuck him.

Darby has the "charismatic enigma" quality that Jeff Hardy has. Kids have always loved both Jeff and Rey ... with the appropriate booking, Darby is a big time merch seller. He can have all the 80/20 matches in the world and the fans will not get tired of rooting for the underdog.
The skateboard and the look, and his weird and dramatic video montages all work and make him the antithesis of Spike, who really was a vanilla midget. 😂
JR thought that Danielson was going to be a "reply guy" on promos during his big "Yes!" run; later, he found his footing as co-GM, and that idea seems almost silly in retrospect. Darby needs help there ... but so did Bryan.
I could see Darby as an MitB winner who successfully cashes in and loses the title at the next PLE, as his only world title run. Like so many of AEW's children of the corn, his potential has been nerfed by the former e-fed booker!

Test was given the name Test, because he'd likely fail a drug test.
I'm sure Jeff was given the " charismatic enigma " nickname as a joke, given he could barely cut a promo - the opposite of being charismatic in the pro wrestling sense, and when he did manage to mumble his words out, he made little sense half the time.. difficult to understand, the meaning of enigma.
A study should be done on what happens when an organisation like this skips on developmental and why 2 out of 3, of the supposed 4 Pillars are struggling. Perry was pure luck and owes CM Punk a big bag of Mindy's Muffins given getting punked out kick started his career.

Test was given the name Test, because he'd likely fail a drug test. Is that true? I think I heard this on Cornette's podcast (or maybe it was JR's), but the rationale behind his name, supposedly, was that he would test the mic before shows, and all he would ever say is "test, 1, 2, 3; test, 1, 2, 3", or something to that effect. I would say the fact that Jeff is not a good promo is a part of the reason why his charisma is enigmatic. It's obviously not pinned down to him being a Picasso of the mic. Sid, Warrior and Steiner all severely lacked in mic skills, but had a ton of charisma, nonetheless. Jeff has had his own way of drawing people in.
