ROH Media Scrum: YouTube, Hammerstein Ballroom, New Approach in 2025Chicago, IL - Nov 27th, 2024It's been a special week for AEW & ROH as they look to end 2024 with a bang. A special live episode of Ring of Honor aired immediately following AEW Dynamite tonight, and after the show Tony Khan and several ROH stars were available for a media scrum. During the scrum Tony Khan announced a few things that will have hardcore wrestling fans giddy with excitement. He proudly announced that Ring of Honor would be airing live on YouTube, and referenced AEW Dark as the inspiration for the new approach to the show. Khan stated that the exclusive deal with WBD was holding up advancement and investment in ROH, but now that the deal is over and a new one signed, Khan is free to do with ROH as he pleases. He said they would likely be airing on Monday nights at 7pm ET, same as Dark, and they are tinkering with some ideas about going live early for recaps, selling ad revenue, and making ROH profitable on their own. Khan also said that Ring of Honor would have an exclusive roster and become a separate entity from AEW, stating that he learned from his mistakes and listening to the fans over the past couple years. He didn't rule out the odd AEW star showing up at times, but did say that the roster would be on their own and it would be "a place where stars learn to fight with Honor before they can become Elite." This all but confirms what fans have wanted for a long time, that ROH become a sort of developmental territory for AEW. Khan said ROH would be following a territory or residency style beginning in 2025, announcing that the first run of episodes would be held at Daily's Place in Jacksonville, before touring around the United States and Canada throughout the year. He said there is potential for crossovers or episodes happening alongside Dynamite & Collision, but said that for the most part they would be traveling on their own. Finally, Tony Khan was happy to announce that they struck a last-minute deal to hold ROH Final Battle in the Hammerstein Ballroom on Friday, December 20th. Khan had already announced that Dynamite, Rampage & Collision would all be held in that building that week, and speculation was that Final Battle would take place there too. It has now been confirmed, and Tony Khan promised lots of surprises and action, and "things that will dictate where ROH is headed into 2025 and beyond." "It will be both a season finale and season premiere rolled into one show," Khan said. "You do not want to miss it."

Christian Cage: "Nick must prove himself."Christian Cage has sent Nick Wayne to Ring of Honor, demanding that his son bring him the ROH World Championship. "Nick has not yet proven himself worthy," Christian said in an interview posted on social media following Final Battle. "Killswitch has proven himself. Mother Wayne has proven herself. Even Kip Sabian has proven that he belongs in The Patriarchy, and that he is worthy of being called my son. But Nick, he has faltered. Nick has shown promise, Nick has shown that he is loyal. But is he worthy? Lately I have not been so sure." "That is why I have tasked Nick Wayne with bringing me the ROH World Championship. I know my son will do whatever it takes to claim that title, and when he does, he can rejoin me and his mother at our side." Penelope Ford Declares for Ring Of HonorPenelope Ford has chosen to join ROH on it's first expedition in 2025. Ford posted on social media that she has made the decision to prove something to herself. "I will be joining ROH in 2025 and touring with the company for as long as it takes for me to get back to the wrestler I once was. I am an AEW Original, and one of the first female stars to blow up in this company, but I have to be honest with myself and my fans. I missed two years due to an injury, and in that time the AEW women's division has exploded with talent. Since returning, I have faced some of the best wrestlers on the planet...and lost every time." "Maybe I have lost a step, maybe it's ring rust, maybe I have been surpassed. But whatever the reason, I am going to tear ROH apart and not only claim gold, but when I do, I will return to AEW better than ever, and whoever is in the women's locker room at that time is going to regret it."

ROH Final Battle Results: Mark Briscoe Restores Honor, Six-Man Titles Retired, New Women's Champ & MoreMark Briscoe is once again the Ring of Honor World Champion, defeating Chris Jericho in a Battle Without Honor. Briscoe restored his title and his brother's legacy, putting The Learning Tree to pasture with a vicious Jay Driller through a flaming table. Mark Briscoe recently informed The Conglomeration that he would be returning to Ring of Honor for good, and that he would be doing that as World Champion or bust. Briscoe told his stablemates he had to go where he felt happiest, and closest to his brother, and his friends understood. And it paid off. Briscoe defeated Jericho, sending him packing from ROH and returning the company's highest honor to glory. The Women's title also changed hands for the first time in 742 days. Athena's historical reign finally came to an end when Queen Aminata did the unthinkable and dethroned the Forever Champion. Athena showed incredible honor in defeat though, shaking Aminata's hand after the match and raising her arm. It was truly an historic moment in this sport. The ROH Six-Man titles were retired tonight as well when the Death Riders defeated The Sons of Texas in a brutal bout. Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta and PAC defeated Dustin Rhodes and the Von Erichs, ending the lineage of the ROH Six-Man titles and remaining AEW Trios Champions. Claudio added insult to injury though when he and PAC took the ROH Six-Man titles and smashed them against the ring steps, cracking and breaking the belts before throwing them unceremoniously into the crowd. The Hammerstein faithful weren't so easily swayed however, and threw the belts back at them several times, before Claudio took them and dropped them in a garbage can on his way back stage. Other Results: -Lee Moriarty remains Pure Champion in a good bout against fellow Shane Taylor Promotions member Anthony Ogogo. After the match Shane Taylor made them both shake hands and raised both their arms. -Brian Cage stayed TV Champ using his size and strength to best Shibata. After the match Cage hit another Powerbomb on Shibata for good measure, and won in surprisingly dominating fashion. He left the arena to a chorus of boos and some fans tossed garbage at him. -The Women's TV title remains on Red Velvet as she took advantage of Billie Starkz and Abadon absolutely dismantling Diamante. Red got the pin before either Starkz or Abadon could capitalize. After the match, Abadon spit green mist in Red Velvet's face.-Penelope Ford & Leyla Hirsch fought to a 20 minute time limit draw in an incredible match. Both women shook hands after the fight, but then as Hirsch went to leave the ring, Ford elbowed her in the back of the head. -Sammy Guevara defeated Nick Wayne in a high-flying bout that had the crowd hooked. Guevara offered his hand to Wayne afterwards but Wayne swatted it away and left. -The Survival of the Fittest Match was won by Matt Sydal, and the match was an awesome opener to the show. Sydal will face Mark Briscoe for the ROH World Championship at a future date.
