If I want something I will put it on my Amazon wish list and wait until it hits a certain dollar threshold before I buy it. One time I was stalking a nice handheld showerhead waiting for to go on sale before I bought it. Being a good consumer I refuse to pay full price for mass market items. So, one day I notice the handheld showerhead is available used. I'm confused for a moment and think to myself " who the hell buys a used showerhead?"
But then it dawns on me, I would never buy a used showerhead, but when I am in a hotel room I am renting one. Then it gets weird. I sure as hell would never buy used bedsheets but I technically rent em. Used bed, sheets, pillows and cases. It seems like I have drawn an odd arbitrary line with some used stuff. Stuff that I will rent used but not buy used.
Fast forward, I find vintage clothing odd. I kind of refuse. But I like a specific expensive type of jeans and today I ordered a pair of worn ones. I am still a bit weird about it. It's going to be odd opening the package and seeing if I wear them. The ones I usually buy seem to be in process of being discontinued. So, I'm reaching beyond my normal barriers and getting these rather than going to find different jeans.
I'm an outdoor trail running, mountain climbing kinda guy. Often I see gear on geartrade.com. Used running shoes and winter jackets. Generally expensive brands. But I have a hard time getting myself to buy someone else's shoes. Let alone, if they didn't work for them, why would I but it? Unless it is a shoe that was last year's model that I know works for me. Either way, I can't do it yet, can you?

I can do used used clothes/shoes if the condition is good. I do find it odd though when people buy underwear from a used clothing store. That just seems wrong on all sorts of levels.

In fairness, the shoes might be because someone bought them and realized they didn't fit right.
This just happened with me; I've only worn Asics in 9 2E but the shoe store didn't have them in stock, the guy got me 10D and said they're just as good and they are VERY MUCH NOT :@ but it's too late to return/exchange them.
Otherwise, though, since running shoes have a life expectancy of what, 300-500 miles I wouldn't buy them used. I would stay away from used electronics with non-replaceable batteries for much the same reason.
Haven't bought used clothing but other than it possibly being worn out and almost hole-y I wouldn't have much issue with.

Also I never buy used electronics but when it comes to appliances I have no issue buying a used washer/dryer, oven, fridge if the condition is good. But I won't do the same with like a PS4 or a TV.

Some things are a bargain second hand. I put a gym together in my workplace from second hand equipment for less than a fifth of what it cost new. People often buy fitness equipment out of guilt and never use it,i would never buy it new when there is so much of it for sale used but cheap. I wouldn't wear second hand clothes though I notice that kids clothes are often passed down and on from family and close friends.
