His retirement broke the IWC. But earlier today, the announcement of his return brought great joy back. And tonight, Daniel Bryan is expected to announce his in-ring return for WrestleMania.
And just like that, the Big Blue side of the WrestleMania bill is looking more and more exciting.

When the crowd pointed at the Wrestlemania sign for him, that's when it hit me. I teared up. Nobody deserves this more.

And what's nice is that he's gonna go back to the same stadium where he had his greatest ever moment. And probably the greatest Wrestlemania Moment of all time.

As much as I want this, his first match back can't involve him being suplexed on his head over and over. I was chatting with Oncall on twitter and if it were up to me, I'd do this: -don't have him fight at Mania, have him tease it and stay backstage (everyone he could potentially fight is already booked). -Miz drops the IC title at Mania (hopefully to Finn Balor). -On the Raw after Wrestlemania, Miz demands a trade, or better yet, demands his rematch clause against Balor and puts his roster spot on the line or something. -Miz loses/demands a trade, he's in the ring all dejected, then Daniel Bryan's music hits. -"I just want to be the first person to welcome you to Smackdown Live!" He and Miz feud on Smackdown and have a big match at whatever Smackdown's first PPV after Wrestlemania is. I really think his first match back should be against The Miz.

I think KO and Sami will get a "reward," in the form of an ass-kicking by Daniel at WrestleMania.

Orton vs. Mahal vs. Roode is going to be so boring. Really hope it is on the pre-show.

It looks like The Riot Squad may be falling apart. I'm digging Ruby's new look.

So good to have him back. That crowd reaction to his rally and the heat on Kevin and Sami. 👍

Daniel was right KO & Sami won. Shane was leaving they should have left him alone. I thought the storytelling has been very good in this feud.

On 205 Live, we found out what the Cruiserweight Championship match is gonna be for WrestleMania.
Mustafa Ali defeated Drew Gulak, and will now face Cedric Alexander in the finals.

I've been planning on a WWE 2018 binge watch, but after the announcement today I just had to skip ahead and watch this show.
It's always good when art can imitate life, so the opening segment with Daniel Bryan was always going to be received well. I know why they gave away the announcement ahead of time, but if the WWE had have been confident in their viewership, the moment would have been so much bigger as a surprise. It also would have added more intrigue into next week's show beyond how are Bryan & Shane expected to get revenge when Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens are no longer in the company. With that said, I thought the final segment was really well done and the way the tone changed was a credit to all those involved.
I wasn't a fan of Shinsuke jerking the curtain. I understand the WWE place more importance on the opening match, but I still feel it's important when you're presenting a guy like Nakamua as a main event calibre performer that you should build his matches up. Just throwing him in there to start the show just makes him into a regular guy and gives you little else to look forward to. It didn't help he was up against Rusev again and the take home of the segment is that Nakamura is so hot right now he can take down two guys by himself. Where is the drama in that?
Baron Corbin vs. Tye Dillinger was complete and utter filler. Both guys deserve better and it's sad to see two potential stars with nothing better to do.
I thought Charlotte and Natalya had the best match on the show. Good action throughout and Natalya going over so close to Wrestlemania at least through some tension into the mix. I'm not sure how I feel about Carmella potentially cashing in on Asuka, because I feel like there's money in a Ronda/Asuka undefeated match down the line, but at least it's a source of tension.
Jimmy Uso vs. Luke Harper was simply OK. It gave them an excuse to give the Usos promo time which isn't a bad thing and the match was fine. It served a point but it was run-of-the-mill tag team booking, put in a place on the show where the fans aren't expected to care as much.
The US Championship segment was so lazily put together that it may have turned me off their program. They would have been better off leaving them off the show altogether or you know, booking Orton against somebody more compelling.
The main event match saw Naomi & Becky Lynch defeat the Riott Squad. Technically this was in the intermission portion of the show, but essentially everything after Naomi/Charlotte felt like phoned-in filler. Just a short and sweet tag match that had absolutely no stakes.
By modern standards, the show was perfectly fine. I just think with all the talent on the roster they could have easily come up with something better. SD's biggest problem is that it's felt stale for a long, long time and in desperate need of a shake-up. Hopefully once we're through Wrestlemania Season, the writers can return to their 2016/early 2017 form.
Or Vince can just give them Ryan Ward back from Monday Night Raw. Seriously, Daniel Bryan needs to make that trade ASAP, especially now that he just let go of Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens. I'm not sure what Sami went by on the independents but is it too early to start referring to Kevin as Steen again?
