Damn what a finish in Houston, game tied 0-0 in extra innings, Astros had a guy on second base with 2 outs in the bottom of the inning. 3-2 pitch and dude hits an infield pop fly and the Padres miss the catch, had 3 guys circled around watched it hit the ground, Astros win it 1-0.
Had an hour and ten minute drive home from work yesterday, all country driving, nothing but trees and cow pastures, beautiful sunny afternoon about 70 degrees. Found an AM station here that plays Astros games so i had the game against Seattle going with the windows down burning one. Seriously falling in love with this sport like never before.
Cora looking desperate putting in Kimbrel so early. And he keeps him in there after the Yankees tie/take the lead so he may not be available tonight. You know it's just early May. 👍
What the hell has happened to Paul Goldschmidt?! He's hitting like .083 this month and is striking out considerably more this season than his career average. Having the complete opposite of a contract year.
Robinson Cano suspended for 80 games due to a failed urine test. He also can’t qualify for the ASG or playoffs. That’s some penalty and a huge mark tohis legacy.
The Yankees were in a little pickle with Bird returning. Looks like any of their options had a bunch of cons to it. Austin needs to stay in the majors and can platoon with Bird. You can never have too many guys in the bullpen. So, the Yankees decided to option Torreyes who is one of my favorite players on the team.
He is batting .340 yes with limited at bats. And is a fantastic fielder and can play multiple positions.
Now if I have this right the bench consists of Walker, Austin/Bird, and Romine. No sub for third and shortstop.
Went to the Yankees/Astros game yesterday. Obviously a tough matchup with Verlander vs German, but German did well. If not for one pitch it would have been a one run game.
Verlander was tough and it was a blast to watch one of the most dominant pitchers in my lifetime. And a nice Yankee Stadium moment when he tipped his cap to the fans.
Not happy about the fans doing the stupid wave in I think the 8th inning with the Yankees at bat. Sorry, it's annoying to begin with, but we are losing it should not be allowed.
There was a solid amount of Astros fans. Looks like a bunch of them are travelling where the Astros go.
I gotta say Yankee Stadium is impressive. The area around the stadium is a complete shithole, but the Stadium is well built. Very clean, tremendous amount of walking space, and a lot of bathrooms. The new food menu is also excellent. I had a burnt end sandwich, bacon on a stick, one of their signature milkshakes, and the Yankees pilsner.
After a huge April, the Jays are finishing off May 5 games under .500 and getting pounded by Boston. Pitching is garbage and now Donaldson is hurt. Again.
Apparently Toronto has lots of promising prospects so hopefully the next few years of struggling to remain a Wild Card team (and failing) will pay off. I dunno. Boooooo

Yeah man. The Bronx is a shit hole. We go to Yankees games a lot and I just hate the area. Up until I walk up the stairs, it sucks. Same with the Bronx Zoo. Shit, same with Barclays Center.

OK he's sorted it out. 9 homers and .423 average so far in June.
Roberto Osuna to Houston for a bunch of pitchers I’ve never heard of.
He was my favourite player until the domestic assault. Now he can fuck off and I’m glad Toronto traded him. I would have been pissed if he came back to play for the Jays.
He should never play in the league again but at least if he does he won’t be doing it for the team I cheer for. Fuck him.

To make things funnier, Justin Verlander (his new teammate) attacked him verbally when this all went down. He said, “I hope the rest of your life without baseball is horrible. You deserve all that is coming to you.”

Now they’re teammates. So deserving.
He said that to a former prospect of the Astros in the minors, not Osuna
It was definitely to one of the Astros' prospects, who isn't with the team anymore. And what he did was caught on video.
I saw Verlander's comments last night and it was basically "we'll wait and see what the verdict is," and he acknowledged what he said in the past about that prospect, and said he stands by it.
I don't think much will come of it. Osuna is being charged with simple assault, which almost never carries a conviction here in Canada. Our system is super flawed when it comes to assault of pretty much any kind, and if Osuna is even found guilty and sentenced, it'll be stayed, served in the future, etc.
I'd bet my house we'll see Osuna pitching in Houston next week.
I like the pieces the Red Sox added before the break. All complimentary players that should add to the depth of a team that has the best record in the MLB. Steve Pearce has been a nice fill-in at-bat so far. Nathan Eovaldi shores up the back end of the rotation for the finishing stretch and had a great outing in his first start as a Red Sox. Finally, getting Ian Kinsler last night upgrades their defense at 2nd with Pedroia out indefinitely. He should fit in perfectly. I wished they would have looked into upgrading their bullpen for the postseason. Lots of teams were selling bullpen arms before the deadline but the Sox decided to stick with who they have.
Mookie Betts hit for the cycle today - surely another step towards claiming the AL MVP. Hitting .347/.434/.668 with 27 homers, 59 RBI, 95 runs scored and 22 stolen bases. What a season.
It took Ronald Acuna a little bit of time to get used to the majors but boy is he looking every bit the top prospect he was billed as now. 7 homers in his last 8 games.
August 14th was the last time this thread was touched AND the Brewers just won their division today and the Dodgers just followed up by winning their division, too. So the Rockies will travel to Chicago to face the Cubs in the NL WILDCARD and the A'S (and myself!) will be traveling to Yankee Stadium for the Yankees in the AL WILDCARD game.
I'm predicting Cubs and Yankees advancing and Yankees/Dodgers in the World Series. LESSSSS GOOOOOOO!
ALSO; 3rd place fantasy baseball finish. Not bad, not bad. :rockin: (H)
