A Quiet Place 2: It was so great to be back at the theatre last night , it obviously added to the experience but the movie was rather awesome as well. Barely a peg below the OG which is high praise with how loved that movie is. Definitely recommend and would suggest seeing it in a theatre if you can. Movie theatres are rad huh?! I really enjoyed it too and it was the perfect reason to get back to the cinema. I actually thought it was even more engrossing than the original, I think the dual storylines really helped - I got a little bit emotional at the ending! I went back to see what PW said about the first AQP and was fairly blown away to read Emperor's comment about Emily Blunt being Cillian Murphy in female form! What are the odds?! You mean when Millicent (something) took on the alien at the end while the same music played as when her dad died? That was perfection and emotional.

I’ve been to the theater two nights running. Our local place isn’t showing anything good, so I saw Peter Rabbit 2 with the kid last night. Meh. It was ok for a kid show but never anything I was interested in. Maybe I need to see Peter Rabbit 1?
Then tonight I went to The Hitmans Wife’s Bodyguard and though the plot is as dumb as the title, it was amusing in a fun little action-comedy movie way. A good time in a theater for me.

Watched The Long Halloween Part 1. Was pretty good. Surprised that Mark Hamill sat it out but Troy Baker does his part very well. Jensen Ackles is ok as Batman, like Baker doing an impersonation of Kevin Conroy.
Kyle was voice very well, one of my favorite takes on her. Gordon is done by Billy Burke and is weird. Lacks a certain gruffness.
Rework of the Falcone storyline was pretty good. Did not really feel Harvey Dent, but he is still Harvey Dent.
Animation has a weird feel to it, that I both like and dislike. It is great at times but feel slightly off at other times.
Overall, one of the best animated features they have done. Killing Joke and Red Hood are both better, but this one is right up there. I may be very biased though as this is my favorite Batman story. This proves too that they can do a great Batman with iconic characters despite most of the top voice actors now being retired.

Saw Fast 9 - it was crazy ridiculous over-the-top craziness and I loved every single cheesy second of it.
Can’t wait to watch it again. John Cena was amazing in it. Fit right in the movie. The car stunts was even crazier. Honestly I loved it. Don’t take the movie seriously otherwise you’ll have a bad time IT IS JUST FUN

Luca -
I mean I cousin just say it’s Pixar and that’s enough of a stamp of approval but god damn - they do it again and again. Wonderful movie , great coming of age story , perfect characters and another emotional and uplifting ending.
Probably Top 10 at worst for me.

I watched Jennifer's Body for the 1st time since 2009. I knew it was bad but when I saw it the 1st time I thought it was bad but, in a campy way. NOPE! Megan Fox is such a bad actress that she can't pull off anything. Not be scary, not be a best friend, not be threatening. Amanda Seifert deserves a medal for subjecting herself to this garbage film.

That's funny because people usually feel the other way about Jennifer's Body and it's become sort of a cult movie in horror circles and a huge feminist movie. I haven't seen it since the first time around and didn't care for it but I'm intrigued to go back.

Luca: A great family film, with all the charm and magic you would expect from Pixar. I’ve already seen the movie twice, since coming out on Friday, the kids absolutely loved it and I thought it was better on a second viewing as well. Like when I say the kids loved it, I mean running around the place with their water bottles, pretending they’re turning into sea creatures, after drinking some water, loved it. 2021 Movie Rankings 9. Locked Down 8. The Marksman 7. Cruella 6. Thunder Force 5. Luca 4. Tom and Jerry 3. Godzilla vs. Kong 2. Raya and the Last Dragon 1. Mortal Kombat

Not movies but the past 2 days I saw the Friends/Fresh Prince reunions. I always dog Friends as a lesser sitcom, but it really was a phenomenon and I probably enjoyed it a lot back when it aired. That friendship aspect to the casts really got to me. Feels like their own PW.

Their chemistry was some of the best you’ll ever find. I liked the Fresh Prince reunion but the Friends one was 5x better.

I watched The Dry last night. I know System posted about it a while ago but the search is letting me down. I thought it was OK but no better, probably one of those stories that's better as a book than a movie. Don't really get why people rate Eric Bana - everything I've seen him in he seems very generic and devoid of charisma. Direction was fairly uninspired too - overuse of flashbacks, drone shots of the outback to transition between scenes (it's dry!), and some obvious errors - no one is drinking Budweiser in the country?!

Did a Musketeers triple feature:
The Musketeer (2001): This was the least enjoyable in general, but it had the best choreography, I liked it more back when it released, really doesn't stack up well when you're watching multiple. Fights really save it and make it a decent watch.
Three Musketeers (2011): Really disappointed this one missed, castings pretty great all around, especially loved the Athos, Porthos, and Aramis. Mads Mikleson as Rochefort and Christoph Waltz as Richelieu. Really had all the makings of a hit, but I just don't think Musketeers are much of a sell these days (was also a fairly solid series that only got 3 seasons not long after). Entertaining start to finish, only real issue is only the D'Artagnan/Rochefort thread is paid off, with the rest being sequel bait, which of course never happened.
Man in the Iron Mask (1998): Easily the best of the 3, and probably my favorite Musketeers adaptation of all time. All of the Musketeers are expertly cast, and Leo be chewing scenery even at such a young age. The way he perfectly portrays the brutality of Louis and the humanity of Phillipe is fantastic. Just...love it.

Went back to the theatre for the first time in a year. I dig this COVID seating. I hope it never changes back.
Saw F9. I love the FF franchise. I loved a lot about this one too, but way too many cameos and while I know it's all for fun, some of it was just straight up over the top. It felt like a cross between FF, Bond and Red at times. Cena was great in it, but if you aren't going in just expecting to have fun, you'll pick it apart.

They leave two spaces between you and the next person and they stagger the seating so no one who isn't in your party will be seated in front of or behind you.

No Sudden Moves- Decent crime caper movie, the cast definitely elevates it. Not a bad performance to be found, some solid twists, not top tier stuff, drags a bit in spots…worth at least A watch.
America: The Motion Picture- Just happy to finally see a historically accurate version of the American revolution, and not some sugarfied take that leaves out important information, like Paul Bunyan fighting an anthropomorphized Big Ben. Either way, decent movie, some solid laughs, not a home run, but I got some good giggles.

Fear Street 1994 was really fun. First of a trilogy of movies adapted from R. L. Stine's Fear Street saga.
It is a teen slasher film, but really well done, with a Scream feel. Film is set in the 90's with a soundtrack straight from 90's.
Story takes place in twin towns, Shadyside and Sunnyvale, one impoverished and one effluent.
Films are released recursively, so third film releases first, then a prequel that takes place 20 years before, then a second prequel taking place in 300 years before. Believe the same actors are used in all three.
Part two is out thurs, then next week the final part.

Yeah Fear Street 1994 was a ton of fun. Loved the opening being so much like Scream and a great cameo from Robin!
It got a little silly it parts , probably 10-15 minutes too long but overall me and the kid really enjoyed it as a slasher with some supernatural sprinkled in.
Looking forward to the next one.

Fear Street was good fun, but the asshole in me couldn't get past some of the music used wasn't released in 1994.
America: The Motion Picture
This may be the best, worst, best movie I've seen in all year. Washington revenging the murder of Abe with the help of Sam Adams and Thomas Edison and starting the American revolution in glorious fashion.
Fucking Democracy!

I have now officially seen every Nightmare movie.
And honestly I expected the 1-shot remake to be the worst, but it actually wasn't. Still though, the knives glove never made much sense to me as an effective weapon. I'm gonna assume it also gives him netherrealm worthy swinging power.
Also I watched 1/2 of Hellraiser the other week. Half because I tapped out. I DON'T get this one, but it was the only "horror villain with 100 sequels" I had never seen. Was hoping to find something GUUD. Anyone a fan? Can you sell it? I even youtube all the deaths to see if it was some gore porn and those even disappointed.

You watched them all recently Ness or just finished it off with the remake? The remake is shit - they had no chance with anyone else playing Freddy. Hellraiser... also shit. I have never gotten the appeal of that movie or franchise as a while. People rave about Barker's genius and I think a lot of it is his exploration of sexuality within horror - I think. I don't know. He's a cool looking villain but the movies are all a chore. Most overrated franchise by a country mile.

I've watched them within year (12 months) going in order. I just watched the remake either this past weekend or the one before.
On the same note I still have Halloween 2 (Zombie) and Halloween Resurrection to watch for that one to be complete... well until Kills comes out. Heard bad things about Resurrection though. All I know is Busta Rhymes gives him a Steve Blackman pump kick to electrocute him at the end? Otherwise I'm going in blind.

What did you think about the Nightmare series? Standouts? Why isn't there a thread?
Resurrection is ... not good by any means. I have a soft spot for it because I remember seeing it like in theatres and loving Halloween but it does not do good by the franchise and is really stupid. Still though - it's better than 3 & 6. And I could make a home movie on my cell phone that is better than Zombie's Halloween 2. That is the worst movie of them all.
