RT What is your alternative ending? When she attacked the monster and burned her childhood house down, we thought they were going to reveal that she was hallucinating and accidentally burned her sister alive who had been looking for her. Or her boss, or the detective, whoever. Sister would make the most sense though.
Then she realizes the curse was broken but she goes insane anyway because she inadvertently killed someone she cared about in a horrific way. Then we find out someone witnessed it and the curse continues anyway.
I would have liked a really twisted ending where we see that she burned her sister alive and her son was in the car watching or something, passing the curse on to him.

Mario movie was good. Great animation and fun story. Thought Chris Pratt sucked as Mario though. He like did not try to get into character at all. Instead he played Chris Pratt.

Star Wars Episode 9: Honestly the first hour or so I was kinda into this. Then it felt like it dragged a bit in the end. It was whatever, but would've been better if it had more cuties in it.
The Expendables: All these names it feels like the Royal Rumble. Funny at the scene of Austin's character not having a problem hitting a woman. I wonder who he had to study under to get the motivation down...

Creed III: This was a pretty good conclusion to the Creed trilogy of films. Jonathan Majors was a great addition to the cast and a solid enough antagonist for Michael B Jordan’s Adonis Creed. Shazam! Fury of the Gods: It wasn’t quite as good as the first one, however, it was what I pretty much expected from the sequel so I can’t complain too much, outside of the mid-credit scene… So Shazam gets recruited to the Justice Society of America, except we’re not getting a JSA movie, so fuck that shit.

Had plans changed so decided, fuck it. I’m going to Newtown for the day (3+ train trip) just to go Dendy cinemas which shows a lot of stuff cinemas in my area don’t. I don’t have problems
Broker:
“One of the year’s most delightful films” I saw the poster confused as all I knew was its about trafficking children on the black market.
Emotionally gripping film that deals with some very heavy subject matter with no filter yet the quote fits, it somehow still manages to have some really cheerful and joyous moments and will everyone in the film is severely flawed you understand them.
Suzume:
I adored Weathering with You and I liked Your Name (only watched it last night) but this just got too absurd at times and while it is a very whimsical film that really hurt the overall premise which to solve became
“Super easy, barely an inconvenience”
Still some really funny moments and I loved the ending. Definitely going to be some weird rule 34 stuff with Suzume and the chair.
I was seemingly the only person at the showing that didn’t speak Japanese so maybe there was some awkward dialogue/bad subbing but a lot of serious moments got laughs?

Went to my first movie since 2019 whenever Avengers End Game was out.
Took my oldest to his first movie and saw Super Mario Brothers. He of course loved it but did complain there was no Yoshi. Jack Bkack and Charlie Day were voice actor highlights. For a silly video game movie, it was great for a five year old.

If Yoshi couldn't politic his way into the first Galaxy game there's no way he's getting a part in the first movie.

Cocaine Bear. It had some high spots, but I’m really glad I didn’t pay to see it. Was bored anytime the bear wasn’t on a rampage.

Jurassic World Dominion: Seeing BDH in this has confirmed the red head thing as canon for me now. Ridiculous. Interesting they got Tim Cook to play a dopey CEO in this.

Took the kiddo to see Mario movie. It was exactly what you’d expect, heavy in fun references for fans of the Mario series. I didn’t know the little character from Mario Galaxy but they stole the show.

Beau is afraid: Is officially the weirdest film I’ve ever seen and of Ari Aster’s, which is saying something when he has a short film about a son sexually abusing his own father. The first act reminded me a lot of Joker, will Joaquin Phoenix in the lead having mommy issues and living in a crime filled city, then whatever direction you think this film is going, it’s very likely you are wrong. With all the chaos going on, it rewards you paying attention to very small details & signs or actions you may right off as a gag. Hilarious too if you have a very morbid sense of humour, if not stray far away. I haven’t seen the trailers so idk how much it gives away nor read reviews but think this will be a super polarising film. Some will call it a masterpiece others nonsense, just depends how open to the film’s oddities, for me the jumping off the boat point was When His father is revealed to be a penis shaped monster

Evil Dead Rise:
He was right all along, the last 10 minutes were cool but not enough to make up for the drudge that was the rest of the film. Every horror trope you can imagine, almost every character was dumb except the youngest daughter..who was a fun & smart character until she succumbed to the dumbness as well.
Skinamarink
Was looking at discussion of Beau is Afraid and people were talking about films with very polarising reactions in the theatre, they cited this (as well as Mother!). While I like to see a film in theatres ASAP I’m glad I watched this on streaming and not in theatres.
Not because I hated it but because watching this at home late at night in my apartment was the perfect setting as opposed to watching it with other moviegoers whom would probably talk all the way through this out of boredom.
I can see why this is so divisive as it leaves a lot up to interpretation as to the events are that are unfolding, with the sounds telling much more of the story than the visuals. If you are a happy go lucky person that thinks nothing can go wrong…probably bored to tears throughout this.
My mind isn’t a happy place to be at times so I was constantly making up scenarios and trying to piece together scenarios in my mind that were way worse than anything you see depicted but I was unsettled the entire runtime as the tension never let up for me.
Really cool experimental film that worked the way it was intended for me.

Disappointed in Evil Dead Rise. There were some good bits, but there was at least thirty minutes of sheer boredom finding the book, meeting the family, etc. I think I fell asleep in the theater which isn’t common for me.

Took the kiddo to see Mario movie. It was exactly what you’d expect, heavy in fun references for fans of the Mario series. I didn’t know the little character from Mario Galaxy but they stole the show. It was one of Rosalina's stars from Mario Galaxy. I assume that since that character played a big(ish) role and Princess Peach gave a speech to Mario about "different galaxies" that the sequel will be heavily based on that game, or start to incorporate other Mario worlds in some kind of "Spider-Verse" type of storyline. Princess Peach was basically the main character of this movie and I could see her being confronted by Rosalina and/or Daisy in the next movie, with Mario & Luigi torn over who deserves their help. Either way I'm stoked. Went and saw the Mario movie with the kids yesterday. I spent the extra $20 and got the seats that move in sync with the movie. It was kind of distracting, but the Mario Kart scene was fucking insane and totally worth the extra money. I won't lie, I got a little emotional during that scene. Rainbow Road has been a part of my life for 30 years and was finally on the big screen, and my kids were losing their minds alongside me. What else can you ask for? I'm going to watch this movie like 10 more times.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves: The movie was decent enough for what it was I suppose. To be perfectly honest, I was kinda disappointed with this one. It might be worth watching via a streaming service on a lazy Sunday afternoon, but it was definitely not worth paying to see in theatres, at least IMO anyways. 2023 Films SeenAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Cocaine Bear Creed III Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves John Wick: Chapter 4 Knock at the Cabin M3GAN Missing Plane Scream VI Shazam! The Woman King: It was okay, strong performances all around, but doesn't set itself apart as a film. Really hurt itself releasing around the same time as Wakanda Forever. Can't say I'd care to rewatch it.
Kill Boksoon: This was a solid little Korean actioner, some really entertaining fights, and great group of characters. Boksoon herself was consistently entertaining. Pretty enjoyable start to finish.

Evil Dead Rise: The Wife wanted to see this for our date night. I really didn’t think it was all that scary and truthfully was bored by the majority of the film (though, I did like the last 30 or so minutes). I would go so far as to say that the best thing about the movie, is its movie poster. 2023 Films SeenAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Cocaine Bear Creed III Evil Dead Rise Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves John Wick: Chapter 4 Knock at the Cabin M3GAN Missing Plane Scream VI Shazam! Finally watched the D&D film. Great fantasy stuff and a good use of source. Def can see how fans get more from this than people who do not play as there are a ton of easter eggs, and characters make more sense.
Hoping now this was a success we get Curse of Strahd since it one of their best selling products and a fantastic choice to adapt.
