Emperor's post reads way different if you skip the one before it.

Emperor LonyIf my opinion matters, I would do this: Watch the first VHS movie because it sets the tone for the series. It doesn’t get the best reviews but I personally loved it and you kind of have to watch it to understand the vibe. After that the order doesn’t matter but I would watch VHS 2 next, then after that it’s whatever. It’s all short films and as far as I remember there are no tie ins or call backs to previous films. VHS 2 might actually be better despite my previous post, specifically the segment that takes place in Thailand which is all kinds of fucked up. It’s also the first movie to introduce aliens which ends up kind of being a theme over the franchise (whether that is on purpose or not I’m not sure). VHS 94 and VHS 85 are both worth watching but not my favourites. Very hit and miss with the shorts. I haven’t seen 99 or Viral but have been told I am not missing anything. Both films are generally panned by fans of the franchise. By all means watch them if you want but I have no desire to. VHS Beyond being this good after how well received 85 was might mean this franchise is going to stick around for a long time, especially because Beyond attracted some major names (Justin Long, Mike Flanagan/Kate Siegel). I would fucking love if this became an annual or bi-annual Halloween tradition where a bunch of celebrity directors drop their short horror stories in a found footage sort of Tales From The Crypt kind of deal. I would watch every single one.

Awesome write-up, RT. Yea, I'll have to check them all out, even the ones fans supposedly don't like. I'm slowly making my way through the Insidious movies for the first time. I'll make V/H/S a priority series to watch (alongside the Paranormal Activity films), not sure exactly when, but yea.

So I went and saw Venom: The Last Dance on Friday, IMO it’s the weakest film in the trilogy. Outside of that, I spent Saturday and today watching the remainder of the Insidious series. Overall, I enjoyed the franchise for the most part, and I’m looking forward to the sixth installment.

The Red: It’s a movie about a killer Red Kangaroo, if you were expecting The Godfather out of this you will be disappointed. It’s a fun b grade film, The Kangaroo isn’t in it much and for good reason as the CGI is horrible. Side note, I’ve seen many US creators say they would beat a kangaroo in a fight. Welcome to come here and try it  The Moogai Pretty good film Aus horror film based on Aboriginal mythology & the stolen generation. Was a somewhat realistic depiction of what a modern day Indigenous family may go through while delivering a decent story. The husband in the film is named “Fergus” so sandylea got amusement out of that when he would be berated over stuff

Don't kid yourself America, if a kangaroo ever got the chance he'd eat you and everyone you care about.

The Substance: An aging woman who’s fired from her morning fitness show finds a substance where you can change into a new younger body for 7 days. But after that 7 days you MUST switch back to your old self. It’s school holidays this week so it’s mostly kids films in the cinema here, except this. Never thought I’d compare a Demi Moore film to Tetsuo: The Iron Man but here we are. Body Horror is probably my least favourite style of horror as I just find it disgusting, which i know is the intended point but I find it difficult to watch. So many squeamish and cringe inducing moments in this. Just watched it last night. It's a full frontal assault on your senses and it just refused to end. I fucked up not choosing to watch Wall-E again instead lol. But I have some newfound respect for Demi Moore. And I now know Dennis Quaid needs to play Vince McMahon in a biopic, all he was really missing here was the voice and less of a Jericho Le Champion-era wardrobe. Enjoyed the subtle references to Kubrick as well, but body horror really isn't really my jazz either. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who isn't a fan of the genre, but it's definitely memorable and has some worthwhile messaging behind all that squish & splatter.

My wife watched the Substance but I opted out because of my own dislike of body horror.
Watched Conclave tonight, it is fine. I enjoyed it, but it was pretty ridiculous, which is what it’s going for I think.

I spent this past week, feeling the nostalgic vibes, with a few modern films. First up, I finally got around to watching Transformers One, which was a pretty solid animated film overall. After that, I put on Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, admittedly, I went in with low expectations, but found it enjoyable enough for what it was. Last but not least, I also checked out Twisters, just because Glen Powell (Anyone But You, Hit Man), was in it. Other Recent MoviesKiller Book Club: A Spanish horror film, Scream meets I Know What You Did Last Summer, but nowhere near as good as either of those films.
Playing With Fire: I got a few laughs, so uh I guess there is that.
Unhinged: I thought Russell Crowe was great in this one. In my opinion, it was definitely worth the watch.

Binged Venom 1 and Venom 2 and I am in love with it. Venom may be my favorite character of all time. He’s fucking awesome. I can’t wait to go watch Venom 3.
