Rusevs days in the WWE seem numbered at this point. It was very recent that he was announced as Takers opponent at The Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia. He's now been replaced by {Spoiler} Jericho He's also removed all WWE references on his Twitter, it's just a dot now and 5 hours ago tweeted Life is life..... it will be #RusevDay somewhere

There was also some newz pre-Mania that he had asked for his release and they added him to the US title match to satiate him. It would be interesting to find out what was behind the Taker match change - whether or not Jericho was just a late addition that made him superfluous, or whether he and Lana's little TMZ stunt annoyed someone.
Personally I don't really see what all the fuss is about regarding Rusev, but it is just another example of WWE refusing to go along with guys who naturally get over and continue to treat their audience with contempt.

Well, that would explain the casket match.
No more Rusev Days. They'll probably be replaced by, ugh, Roman Days.

"I'm leaving." "What if we put you in the US title match? Would that make you feel better?" "Maybe." "Consider it done. You're getting pinned by Jinder though."
I think there's more to it than that.
Considering Rusev gets over by his own volition time and time again and then they do nothing with him, I'm guessing he just got fed up. Between shoving him in the US title match only to eat the pin, then (I'm speculating) being replaced with Chris Jericho in a marquee match must have been the last straw.
I'm making some big assumptions here, obviously, but that's all we have to go off. Maybe Meltzer will shed some more light in the coming days.
This SUCKS

After Dolph leaving and Roman going over both being false, the dirt sheets have no credibility but if he is leaving he really needs to try to get the rights to Rusev Day.

- is over and has a popular catchphrase -sells tons of merch -is one of the better workers in the company and can cut good promos -has a good look -has hot wife who is also over -got another act over (English)
Yet WWE still keeps Rusev as a heel and doesn't push him. This is so disheartening for fans of his and other potential babyfaces not named Roman Reigns.

Rusev Day can't make the WWE see that they should push this man then nothing is going to. But hey at least we get to see Jinder vs. Orton again!!! HAHA. Seriously WWE is mind blowing sometimes. That was easily the worst feud of last year and WWE just can't stop going to it. Also what the fuck did Orton do to deserve this treatment? The man has been Jinders bitch on a consistent basis for almost an entire year.

Well really who can blame him? This is like Christian all over or Zack Ryder. The fans are clamouring for him the gimmick sells itself and for whatever reason the Powers that Be aren’t buying what he’s selling.

Deserves soooooo much better. But until I see something concrete (i.e. future endeavor article) I don't believe anything. Wrestlers troll us way too often about this sorta thing.

They love big foreign guys in Japan. He can go, become a megastar and come back if he wants to in a few years.

It'll be the CM Punk chant situation. Going to be hard to mask those chants all the time.

Rusev is a classic example of a WWE talent getting over despite the awful booking. Ever since Vince thought he could turn Lana into the next Sable, Rusev's career has been on a downward trajectory and it's only been through good collaboration with underrated talents that he's been able to get over with fans. First there was the Dolph vs. Rusev angle which was awful, but Rusev & Summer Rae were really good together and made an awful angle tolerable. Then Rusev became a punching bag for Orton, but formed a fun combination with English who found his place as a semi-manager for Rusev.
The reality of the situation is that SmackDown has been a creative wasteland for the WWE. The only angle they've put any thought into involves a McMahon while the rest have barely managed to keep their head above water. Now that Wrestlemania has past, I hope that the Nakamura heel turn, Carmella cash-in and Iconics debut can spark things because lately it's been like watching an episode of WCW Saturday Night.
If Rusev stays, I hope they see the writing on the wall, turn him babyface, get some wins under his belt and depending on how over he gets with the crowd push him for a WWE Championship run.
