I know a lot of supporters have been crapping on him these last several years. But they shouldn't forget that he was the man who helmed the greatest PL team of all time, Arsenal's unbeaten 2002-2003 squad. In the 2000s, he was on par with Sir Alex in terms of success.

I felt that this was the last season for a little while now, but I was still surprised at the news when it broke. It's an announcement we've been expected for a few years now, but you never really thought it would happen.
I was never on the #WengerOut side of things. Yeah, there were times over the past 2-3 years when I hoped he'd hang it up sooner rather than later and let someone else take over, but those times were fleeting and usually came from a place of frustration and alcohol, and given some time to reflect, would another manager have done any better with the team Arsenal had? I doubt it.
I'm glad he's going out on his own terms and leaving behind a legacy that almost nobody in the Premier League can match. I've never known an Arsenal team with any other manager, so next season is going to be really weird for me as a fan, but I'm excited and happy for what's to come and what we've had with him at the helm.
Merci, Arsene.

In the 2000s, he was on par with Sir Alex in terms of success. Well not really - 2 league wins and some FA cups vs 5 leagues and a Champions League. A really seismic day in football - and a sad one too - in today's landscape we'll never see another manager become so influential and shape a club completely in their own image as Wenger did at Arsenal. Unfortunately for him the last few seasons have been steadily trending downwards and he's had to endure a ridiculous amount of abuse and vitriol that someone who has brought to much never should have had to take, but history will remember his legacy fondly. His impact not only in creating some of the great teams of the last 20 years, but his influence in professionalising and globalising the Premier League (which we all take for granted now) is just massive.
