So I come home from work after midnight Sunday night/ Monday morning, to find someone parked right next to my fence, any closer they would have hit it.

Next to my house is just a large grass area, with plenty of room to park further away:

My first thought is it’s an undercover cop (I live on the highway) So I let it slide. When I come back from the gym another car quickly drives off after visiting him. The next morning he’s still there..I let it slide, and then the next night. There’s a fair amount of crime in my area,
and didn’t respond when we approached him.

(By now he pretty much knows my daily routine as work & the gym are a very short walk from my house). I call the police as it seems like he’s just watching the children at the skate park (directly across the street) they say they’ll send someone around. Tuesday afternoon rolls around and I call back to check up on anything.

I’m normally very reasonable with police but the woman on the phone was incredibly rude and just said “it’s not illegal, not your property” and I quote “what’s the point” after I mentioned he seemed to be watching children but had not approached them. She said some people are homeless and live in a car which I understand, but not parked that close to someone’s house....anyway I found out the grass area actually belongs to a water company and isn’t public property
after the guy finally moved, so he was there illegally.

So do you think I’m a heartless monster for wanting someone living in their car to move away from right next to my house or do you think I had a right to be concerned?

I probably wouldn’t have called if i wasn’t parked less than a metre from where I walk down the driveway...and noticed his interest in watching children at the skate park.

You're not a monster. I would've called the police to ask them to move.

I don't think I've ever encountered a homeless person. Even if I did I doubt I would believe they were homeless due to all the scammers panhandling...

I built a new roof for a rescue mission about a decade ago, something I noticed while working there was that 99% of all the homeless people that were in and out of there all day were all mentally handicapped folks.

I would take a page out of all the whinging idiots on facebook and made some sort of report on some local facebook page about a car in the area, with a guy watching young kids, and let the social justice warriors and anti-vaccers in the area take care of the rest in stirring up some paranoia until it gets some police attention.

That, or if you know some lads that don't live in the area, be a prick and give him a scare and he'll move. Obviously, he feels safe sitting there.

I wouldn’t really be thinking about the kids, as I’m not one to assume that kind of thing. I just wouldn’t want someone being that close to my door all the time.

And yeah being homeless is on its own a mental health issue, so adding that to it would make me want it next to me even less.

It sucks that the world is such a shitty place , that you actually have to question someone who might just be really hard off and give them a possibly harder time. I'm a fairly straight forward person though so I'd probably go knock on his window first and ask him to move and if that didn't work I'd call the police. It's just the world we live in.

I've had a few very different experiences with homeless people. I don't ever remember seeing one in my area for about 29 years of my life but the past few years there seems to be more and more and it's sad. There was a guy last year , at a roundabout near our localish Wal Mart with a sign and a gas tank saying his family needed gas to get home (I think it was Illinois) and I offered to bring him to the gas station and fill up the can - he refused and said he just wanted the cash. Well fuck you pal , I don't carry cash and that's just a red flag you don't actually need the gas.

I've been on my way to work and seen a homeless man outside the gas station asking for money for food , I didn't give him money but I have dozens of free $10 dollar food comps through my place of work because of my position and I gave him two , told him they were good for 48 hours and we have pretty damn good food. He took it and I seen him there about 3 hours later.

I've also completely ignored a homeless man in the Twin Cities on my way out of a WWE Show (they are way more abundant in the cities) but the fucking guy had the latest iPhone in his hand and shoes that were probably more expensive than anything in my closet.

I tried to speak to him the next morning, he was sitting in his car having a cigarette. He didn't respond at all, so we figured he wasn't all there. 
If it wasn't for the fact that the crime is so heavy in this area, and he was parked so close considering the area on offer i may not have worried about it. 
That and drunks at my work (less than 500m from my house) threatening me every week when they get kicked out also added to my paranoia. 
....Maybe i need a change of scenery :lol:

He moved late Tuesday afternoon, hasn't been back.

There's a homeless man that sits in front of Myer in Sydney, which is right on the main street and not far from shopping centre and Hilton hotel.
