Montreal plays home to the WWE for the second night in a row. This time, it's the blue brand's turn.

No DQ, eh? I wonder if AJ will be doing the low blowing this time?

Randy Orton, Shelton Benjamin and Jeff Hardy in a segment together - did we go back to 2005 or something?

Wow Big Cass’ music is terribly generic.
He’s also not great on the mic. Not a convincing heel at all. No conviction in his words.

Breaking up Aiden and Rusev would be very dumb.

Breaking up Aiden and Rusev would be very dumb. Agreed. Which is why the WWE will do it. What is it with the WWE and dressing midgets up as superstars?

Crazy, evil Skinsuke isn't doing much for me either. I was hoping it would help me 'get' him.

I'm looking forward to the spot at Backlash where AJ wears a cup to stop the lowblow like when Bret wore the steel plate to counter Goldberg's spear.

New Day vs The Bar is a lot more fun than Usos vs the Bludgeons.

Fun main event, particularly the last minute or two with Asuka's hot tag (she does that so well). And Billie didn't take the loss for a change which was nice. Smackdown women's division post-draft has been really good - lets hope the writers can keep it up!

I really love the resurgence of Smackdown post-Wrestlemania. And even if the six ladies are kind of re-treading the Charlotte Squad vs. Riott Squad feud, it's working much better. It's also nice to see the women get the main event slot. The Montreal audience was definitely good for this and Charlotte was largely the most popular of the three faces. Asuka's hot tag was amazing, along with Charlotte's mid-match hot tag. Nice to see the girls get a lot of time and bring it, along with Ruby vs. Sasha from RAW.

I wasn't impressed with most of the show overall but I was happy with the women's segments.

I want to see more SmackDown shows open like that. Instead of the slow in-ring promo, just have the GM pop up explain what's going to happen and move on, brilliant.
I wish they would settle on a US Champion. I've been outspoken about having too many titles, but if you're going to have so many belts, then you've got to stick with somebody. So far the Jeff Hardy reign has left something to be desired, I hope they sort it out and leave it on Jeff who can do a good job with the title. As forgettable as these past two weeks have been, I thought the tag match was well orchestrated. Fans were up for the Orton/Hardy double finish and that RKO Outta Nowhere got a great reaction. Randy gets a bad rep for playing it safe and I mostly lean towards that side but he's still a valuable asset to the company.
I enjoyed how angle heavy the show was. Leading into Wrestlemania it was all action which can be good, but when it's the same people it feels like a bunch of repeats. One advantage television has over any form is character development, so watching the Iiconics bond with Mella, Lana give Rusev some sage advice and Cass develop this arrogant New Yorker persona is better than just having a bunch of matches. I've got to give props to Samoa Joe as well, he's been one of the best promos so far in 2018 and I can't wait to watch him take on AJ whenever that's going to happen.
I thought the ladies did a really good job in the main event. A lot of them aren't naturals but you can see the years of experience paying off and the way they put the match together was really good. In the WWE they usually go for the chicken shit heels which isn't money heat and I was worried they were going down that route with the Iiconics but they gave them plenty of offence in the match and Peyton looked good. I'm not sure if their Australian 'yuppie' gimmick is translating as well as it can be, but I like that they're not afraid to be different and they're throwing material out there. I thought the Renee skit was their best on the WWE roster to date. Asuka remains one of my favourite in-ring performers and that moonsault at the death was great. We've seen 100 more impressive dives this year, but the timing of this one meant so much more and the fans were into it. As a fan, I wish they held off on Mella and the Iiconics losing and really let the heat sink in, but it's the WWE and Vince always wants to send the fans home happy.
