So I just wrapped up Chris Jericho’s podcast with Flat Earther David Weiss.

There’s nothing in it that makes me believe these folks are anything more than a bunch of conspiracy nut jobs, but given PW has quite a few conspiracy fans around here, I was curious if we had any Flat Earthers on PW.

If so, what specifically changed your mind and how do you win over the “uninitiated” like myself?

For the longest time I assumed flat earthers were doing satire on internet conspiracy culture, picking the most ridiculous thing to doubt to put a mirror to doubters of maybe not equal ridiculous theories, but ridiculous nonetheless. Holy fuck, they're real, though.

People believing this shit is proof that humanity has peaked and we're regressing backwards into another dark ages.

That question came out of nowhere. What kind of Satanists are we talking about? The Church of Satan people seem to just be atheists and generally good people, albeit a little annoying in shoehorning theological debate into every moment of the day. If we're talking about some human sacrificing psychopaths to appease a (probably) imaginary horned demon, I'm going to go on record against that. Don't human sacrifice for Satan, kids.  

Oh conspiracy nuts, a bunch of douches who will believe any bull shit spin on something just in the hopes that one will be true and they can say "I told you so". That is the vibe I get from conspiracy nuts and flat earthers. I don't think most of them even buy into it themselves, it's just their insecurities are so over the top that they have to cling onto something absurd just on the off chance that one day it will turn out they were correct and they can shove it down peoples throats.

I have made a promise to myself, that if anyone in real life tells me earth is flat i will fuck them up. Unlikely to happen though, because i live in a country that is proud to give their citizens good education.

Yeah, i'm sure you would. I don't think education is a factor in flat earthers. At least here in America, we are taught that earth isn't fucking flat and I'm assuming your condescending tone was aimed at America's not so stellar education system.  I'm sure even in whatever the hell country your from, there are a few dumb dumbs running around that have some dumb shit theories....like for instance, someone thinking it's unlikely that someone would have a stupid opinion on something because their country is so well educated.  Kind of like that.  

If i think about it, yeah my post sounded like i smell my own farts. 

I just feel Satanists are similar in just being satire and none are really serious.

I don’t think it’s satire. I think people actually believe this. Trolling is one thing, but investing your entire life into it is another.

Maybe it's just my inability to take either seriously.

I mentioned how stupid flat earthers were to a co worker and he replied “yeah...my brother thinks the earth is flat” in a “doctor...my friend” type tone.

Satanic Temple really flipped the script for modern Satanism breaking away from the entire Levy mythos.

I think there is an easy solution to the Flat Earthers: allow them to go into outer space to view the Earth, but only on the condition they can't return to Earth. That way, they get to test their theory, and we get to rid the planet of stupid people....
