Last week on Smackdown Live, Big Cass beat down a little person dressed as Daniel Bryan, in a segment building up their singles match at WWE Backlash. According to Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, during the scripted assault Cass not only broke a direct order from backstage officials, but also blatantly defied Vince McMahon in the process.


Apparently, the seven-footer was supposed to hit the ring last Tuesday night, introduce the fake Daniel Bryan, and after cutting a promo drop the little person with a big boot. Cass allegedly thought the segment didn’t have enough sauce on its own, but was denied by officials when he asked to continue the beating beyond the one move. He then went directly to Mr. McMahon to ask permission, but was once again turned down.

During the segment, Cass did hit the big boot as instructed, but then went off-scripted to rain down on “Bryan” with a series of mounted punches. According to Satin, backstage officials were not happy about the deliberate disobedience, especially considering he asked for permission beforehand and was explicitly told to stick to the plan, and has found himself in “hot water” with the powers-that-be.

When WWE uploaded the segment to YouTube, as seen above, they cut out the footage after Big Cass delivered the big boot. While this is purely speculation, he wasn’t seen on Smackdown Live at all this week

It was dumb. The punches took away from the big boot statement. That and if the boss says no, you listen.

Then again he is a senile old man that's out of touch, so...

There are battles worth fighting for Cass, getting a few extra punches in on this lame duck segment wasn't one of those battles you take to Vince. And he certainly should have known better than to just say fuck it and do it anyways. I mean I would understand it if Cass actually had an idea that while vince is saying no, he knows in the end it would be great and raise his stock, totally worth the risk. Adding a few extra punches in on a midget in a segment nobody gave a fuck about though...mind blowing that that is what your hill to die on.

If Cass was actually good in his match with Bryan I doubt would be much of an issue but since the match was a stinker it magnifies this story even more.

Everyone should have already known that without Enzo, he was just seven feet tall.... and bland as fuck. The dying on the hill Forbes no reason is something I heard on a podcast too and it totally makes sense. The dude (Cass) is so out of touch if he thought that would make him look better. Badassery and brains mixed is something that some men have and you can’t teach that.

But the man is awful.

Bryan completely destroying Cass on Smackdown seemed like a pretty clear indication that he is in the doghouse - when does a big guy ever get his ass completely handed to him like that? I think if Joe waxes him next week we'll know for sure.

I'm just glad things are trending towards Bryan getting to do something else rather than be stuck in a long feud that the post-match at Backlash hinted towards. Hopefully he can get into a more interesting program with someone like Almas that Big Pete talked about in the Smackdown thread.

He's 7 foot tall, but he just looks like a regular dude who has nothing interesting to say and doesn't carry himself like somebody who can kick your ass.

You compare him to guys like Braun Strowman, Bad Luck Fale, Jeff Cobb, WALTER etc. and it's just night and day. These guys know how to carry themselves and know how to impress the crowd. Cass has been with the company for 7 years now, the WWE needs to cut bait and look at other alternatives.

Reportedly Vince is keen on him and you know that goes.

There is no convinction in his actions or words. I cannot back him as a heel because it's not believeable. Just like I'm not sure I could back Corbin as a face.

Stick a red mask on the guy and have him no-sell the shit out of everything. At least he might develop some personality.

Getting falsely accused of rape isn’t Enzo’s fault

No, but his past behaviour denied him of receiving the benefit of the doubt.

If Enzo wants to continue wrestling, I wouldn't be surprised to see him back in the not too distant future. Hopefully that incident serves as a wake-up call for him because he is a fantastic promo.

So...your saying he's a rapist who just got off on lack of evidence?  The accuser to my knowledge didn't seem like the most credible person in the world and if I recall even her friends were saying nothing happened.  I mean I hate Enzo and throw the fucker under the jail if he did this but you sound like you have your mind made up that he did something based on accusation.

As for Big Cass, his in ring work is garbage. He's 7 feet of shit and always was. I think his promos have been ok since his return, he's showing he can say more than "You can't teach that" but the fans don't seem to be buying him in this role. Some big guys have it and some don't, Cas doesn't. Daniel Bryan beating the ever loving shit out of him lets me know that Big Cas may be taken off tv soon and DB can move onto Miz for Summerslam.

I’m not saying he’s guilty; I’m saying there wasn’t enough evidence to prosecute. That doesn’t mean he was falsely accused or not.

We don't know for certain what happened. She could have falsely accused him or the trail of evidence went cold and they couldn't proceed, which happens all the time in rape cases. It's an incredibly difficult thing to prove, which is partly why cases stall or never get reported in the first place. Nobody knows that he was in fact falsely accused. Nobody knows that he in fact raped her. The way things turned out, he is presumed innocent, but that doesn't necessarily prove he was falsely accused.

It's a pretty terrible situation any way you slice it.

It looks like he is taking a neutral stance as he stated that not enough evidence to go forward with a prosecution doesn’t either exonerate or compel for a conviction. As with most non-violent rape cases, it is typically a he-said, she-said situation since traditionally there are only two people in the room and no evidence to support either case and no witness to corroborate the story.

Exactly. I think I’m being pretty damn neutral. I’m not saying his guilty; I’m not saying she falsely accused him. But I am calling people out who conflate no charges and innocence as the same thing.

Her story has an insane amount of holes in it, that have been thoroughly debunked and even her friend came out with a video as soon as allegations were made calling BS. Not exactly an OJ Simpson story.

Enzo fucked up by not alerting WWE to this situation ahead of time. I have no issues with him getting fired, the guy seemed like he had a ton of heat with the boys and this was just one thing to many.
