The weekly edition of Edge & Christian's Pod of Awesomeness is available & their guest this week was former WWE creative writer & writer for other several well known entertainment programmes Tommy Balatcha, it's a really good episode and one I'd recommend a listen to when you've got an hour or so free. Here's the link.. E&C's Pod of Awesomeness - May 25th 2018

I've never heard of Balatcha before, so his appearance was a breath of fresh air.
TL;DR (listen?)
Balatcha joined the WWF in 1999 after working for Conan O'Brien when Vince McMahon made an appearance in 1999. Originally he was brought in as a consultant to read over Russo's scripts but when Russo left the company in September of '99, Balatcha was promoted onto the writing team. Balatcha talks about winning over the locker room after writing some good British Bulldog promos and also talks about some of his low lights in the company.
Tommy was on the writing team when they came up with the Kennel From Hell match. Vince approved the idea without considering the logistics of the match so when it came to show-time they realised they came up with the least dangerous match ever. He was also involved in the Mae Young storyline when she gave birth to a hand. Vince approved Tommy's idea for Mae Young to fall pregnant but when Vince realised Tommy didn't have an end-game, Vince came up with the hand idea as punishment. Not only was Tommy's idea aborted, Tommy had to deliver the hand on live TV. This came back to haunt him because years later he was on a date and the bar they went to happen to be replaying the segment.
Tommy is a funny guy, and as somebody who had his own podcast, knows how to be entertaining. It's probably the best podcast I've listened to since the Bret/Austin Anatomy of a Match episode.
