Anyone else been following the trial? It started earlier this week. Today CM Punk had to confirm under oath that “CM” stands for “Chick Magnet.” I hate it. I always hoped it was “Chicago Made.” Anyway, there is a twitter account here of a Chicago journalist that has been sitting in on the trial and live tweeting as much as he can: twitter.com/royalpratt/Also /r/squaredcircle has a daily thread if you want to follow along that way. I’m a couple days behind but it sounds like today was the most eventful. The jury had to watch a video of Kane chokeslamming Punk on the announcer table for some reason. They also discussed an old promo of Punk’s. Yesterday they had to listen to the entire Colt Cabana podcast that started this whole thing.

Bits and pieces. I just find it hilarious this went to trial because a few trolls called him Dr. Z-Pack on social media...

So this might actually be a big deal, since Amann admitted under oath to handing out medication without a prescription.

Did Punk, under oath of course, confirm he was a real deal MMA fighter? Because, that, that would be hilarious.

[ If I had known you didn’t know that, I could have told you years ago. Didn’t realise it was unknown 😂. from what I remember he was in a put into tag team called the Chick Magnets after a no show (other guy was CM Venom).

Chick Magnet was long known for ages. When he got popular it got changed to Chicago Made. But Chick Magnet was why Punk never answered the question about what it means.
The daily notes from this trial are hilarious. I cannot believe the case was not dismissed already though. Amann did not prove any losses and did not prove that people even knew it was him that Punk discussed on the podcast. Colt at this point should at least be off as during the podcast many doctors were discussed without name.
Punk breaking down on the stand makes me hope he never enters the ring again. Wrestling no longer seems healthy for him in anyway.

Yeah reading he broke down on the stand just sucks. We all knew he was going through some shit, but even recalling it 4 years later still brings him to tears. Concussions are no fucking joke, man. I'm glad he walked away and I really hope he's seen enough medical staff to rule out any long term brain injuries. I'm guessing he would have before he was allowed to step in a UFC ring, but who knows what their medical procedures are like?
In regards to the Chick Magnet thing, any time I saw it come up it was always compiled with a list of other names that Punk has said over the years the "CM" stands for. There'd be like 20 on a list including Cookie Monster or Captain Marvel and shit like that. I always thought it was just amongst a long list of names and it didn't actually stand for anything. Punk likes comics, he likes villains, he likes having a vague backstory like The Joker. Made sense to me.

They wanted 4 million dollars in damages despite acknowledging that what Punk said made no difference to his employment with WWE, just that Amann was butthurt about being called names on the internet. What a joke.
Taking this to trial really backfired on them. It would have been relegated to minor/forgotten history by now, but yet here we are four years later still talking about his incompetence.

I thought the CM was for Clean Man for the straight edge life style. Though never really cared what it meant. But had I been a person who believe in Chicago Made and just learned it mean Chick Magnet I may would feel disappointed.
Both can be taking as proud of your beginnings but once comes off a lot better.

What a joke. Taking this to trial really backfired on them. It would have been relegated to minor/forgotten history by now, but yet here we are four years later still talking about his incompetence. It looks like should Punk wish, he has a case against Amann and there is a chance that Amann could be subjected to an ethics investigation even if Punk does not take action due to the noise about dispensing medications without prescriptions or records, and violating HIPPA. Meltzer is looking into it, and he is not entirely wrong. Punk odds are wants nothing to do with this, but an investigation does not need him, only a civil suit. The text message to Jericho is clearly a HIPPA violation though. That said, what a bizarre fucking trial. Punk crying, being questioned about Patrick Bateman, the prosecutor seemingly have no idea how to read who sent what text messages and Punk confirming Chick Magnet under oath, it is like the sequel to My Cousin Vinny. Also Punk when asked if he is All In, he said he is not.

The whole situation was ridiculous. Look at why there was a podcast in the first place. If the WWE had have made the most of CM Punk in the company, does anyone think that would have transpired? Like so many bitter ex-wrestlers, they used him up and took him for granted. The sad part is, Punk most likely would have returned if the WWE had have just considered why Punk walked out and touched base. Instead you get the petty situation where they weren't sending him his royalty checks and the whole ordeal around his wedding which was just awful.
That led into the podcast which was obviously a bitter-fueled rant with a lot of artistic license. I believe there was a truth to every story he was telling, but like the MRSA/Staph thing, clearly Punk didn't 100% know for a fact what it was. I don't think anyone came out of that looking great, but the WWE dragging it out like they did obviously takes the cake.
I don't think the story is truly over. Judging from the argument, the WWE clearly were trying to get a settlement and if they couldn't reach that then they were going to waste everybody's time including Punk's. Now I don't know how much control they had over dates, but it wouldn't surprise me if they're all looking forward to UFC 225. Whatever chance Punk had would have diminished with all this drama unfolding and if he can't beat Jackson, surely that's the end of his UFC run.
What sucks is that Punk was one of the few guys with a devoted fanbase. You didn't have to be a WWE fan to be a CM Punk fan. Now I don't think we'll ever see Punk again inside a WWE ring. I'm sure down the line he'll do Hall of Fame and will become a General Manager, but what should have been his decade on top has been nothing short of a disappointment.

So yeah, Armam will most likely get released and could lose his medical license as a result of suing Punk. Turns out why he was the sole doctor attached to a brand during the brand split he was dating Jillian Hall. During the trial he asked that this not be entered into evidence. But he did not seal it. This is a massive ethics violation, way worse than fucking up HIPPA or Punk's declining health. Jillian confirmed the story and WWE is investigating. deadspin.com/court-records-wwe-doctor-who-sued-cm-punk-had-sexual-r-1826818551

Hilarious karma. He took Punk and Cabana to court over some petty shit because his little feelings were hurt, and has now admitted to incorrectly/illegally giving prescriptions, breaching patient confidentiality, and now it's come out that he dated at least one (and possibly more) patient.
Apparently his WWE contract is up in October so they might just wait for it to run out to try and get the story to calm down, but they should really fire him now.

I doubt he will get to ride out the contract. WWE needs to make an example of this and they have shareholders they do not want asking questions too many questions about WWE and medical issues, as that never ends well. Not doing anything increases the likelihood an outside investigator looks into this and WWE as a whole, but swift action will allow WWE to blame a whole lot of shit on Armam and come out looking like heroes. The sole thing that is preventing this, is WWE being afraid he will trash them to the press, but given he just saw what a libel hearing looks like and the damages that can be awarded, it is not very likely he will press his luck.

Has to rank up there as a strong contender for post of the Internet. **insert oldskool PW Nessmoji** * Go Jillian, though. Making mum and dad proud by bagging herself a(n apparently) qualified doctor.
