Last time I paid attention to comic cartoons was the 2 season run of Avengers Earth's Mighiest Heroes and Spectacular Spiderman. Quick wiki looks like that was just as the preshow was forming with the main characters so it wasn't even a "thing" yet. But it eventually did take on a life of it's own. Were there cartoons during this time? I'm sure there were, but like anything of relevance or was their focus strictly on the live action properties? Seemed like Marvel had abandoned the DVD video market, which DC was doing relatively well in. Their film division struggled to become a thing but on the small screen DC was making moves having strings of connected universe movies plus the Arrow verse had several hit shows.
Obviously I'm not talking about lego or those baby avengers type of things, but ya know stuff on the level of Batman TAS and other shows of that nature. I dunno how to phrase but you know what I mean. Yeah it's still a kid's cartoon but it doesn't treat you like a child? Like I see there was a multiple season Guardians show. Was that good? Also doesn't the fact that it exists kinda put over as a "name". Are they the biggest beneficiaries of the MCU push alongside Iron Man?

X-Men 97 is out, if that ties in.
Is it good? I don't know. I can't tell. I watched the first episode and thought it was yappy and the dialogue was pretty wooden.

We definitely watched different shows. You can find all my thoughts on X-Men 97 in the weekly nerd thread. Loved it! Other than What If (and of course X-Men 97) I don't think I've watched any Marvel animated show since X-Men TAS from 92. Just haven't been on my radar. Not that I've watched anything DC either, other than Harley Quinn (SO SO GOOD).

It's an offshoot of the FOX cartoon which debuted in 1992 and ran for 5 seasons. Those of us who were big fans of that cartoon, think they did a damn good job keeping the same flow. It probably would help if you watched that 1992 before watching the new one. Season 5 animation gets janky though. They have it on Disney+. I don't think I've watched any other Marvel Animated Series since those old Fox days though along with the Avengers one that came out around the same time.

I watched the original series probably 10 times over as a kid when it was on in the early 90s and revisited episodes over the years on. I think I've still got a box set of DVDS somewhere. We were obsessed with it as kids.
I don't know, I must not have been in the mood for it and expected it to come out swinging.

It's technically a sequel for a show made 30 years ago, so it might take an episode or two to get back into the swing of it. Maybe I was just swayed by nostalgia and the fact that it felt better than what they put out for Season 5. Come discuss it in our weekly nerd talk.
