We did it boys, football is back tonight.
OK, it might only be the hall of fame game - but we get to see Lamar Jackson, that's pretty cool right? Let's get ready to make all sorts of hot takes about how he's going to instantly win the starting job if he looks remotely decent!

Football season kinda crept up on me this year, i guess since ive been so into the Astros\baseball for the first time this offseason went by faster than usual. I had to watch a few football movies over the weekend to get in the mood, Wildcats and The Program, fuck baseball lets do this fucking shit

I am so excited for this football season. It’s going to be good and hopefully a healthy year for the star players. Too many big names got injured last year.
I know the Titans starting Safety just got injured, Jonathan Cypriot, and he is now out for the season. Eric Reid, the kneeling clown, is going there for work outs. I hope he don’t get signed by my favorite childhood team.
I want to see what Lamar and RG3 look like today. Same with this new and “improved” Bears squad.
I just can’t wait for the real deal.

Three thoughts from the game:
- RG3 played better than Lamar Jackson but didn't do anything to suggest that he will remain on the Ravens roster after preseason cuts. - Jackson won't be taking Flacco's job in the immediate future. He's fast and exciting but didn't look particularly impressive throwing the ball at all. - The new helmet rule is going to have people throwing fits. Personally I really don't mind about the rule change as long as they stick to it and call things consistently, but the toxic masculine crowd is going to be all over plays like that helmet to the chest hit on Hayden Hurst that drew a flag. Hopefully the NFL are able to stick to their guns.

Been the longest fucking six months of my life. So happy it's back.
Quarterback play was pretty good for a quarter and a bit last night, then it dived. I'd be surprised if we see anything of significance from Jackson this season, except for maybe a couple of end of season games if the Ravens are in limbo.

Corey Coleman to the Bills is an interesting one. The Browns were obviously lying when they were saying the other day he was the starter with Josh Gordon out, and for him it's probably a good move to get away from the team where he'd always be linked to the choice to pass on Carson Wentz.
He brings some upside to Buffalo who have a weak looking receiver group, but already have a similar looking "unfulfilled potential" player in Zay Jones with an injury history and questionable professionalism/mental state.

Not to mention Kelvin Benjamin who is acting like a scorn chick who got dumped and sat around her friends telling her she don’t deserve him. The shots he took at Cam and Carolina were ridiculous and almost contradicting. He saying he’s the best from his draft class if he had a better QB is assanine. The dude is stiff moving as fuck on the field. He better put his money where his mouth is this season and get to work. The Bills are a mess.

Yes just embarrassing for Benjamin really. He's clearly still sore about being deemed surplus to requirements in Carolina and the fact that hasn't moved on yet is a red flag for Buffalo.
Kelvin criticising Cam's lack of football intelligence (who won the MVP the year Benjamin was out for the season) had some parallels with Trump taking shots at LeBron.

Then you got Lesean McCoy and his “shady” thing going on with the robbery on his ex and her saying he set her up.
The Bills have so much baggage going with them this season that I would not be surprised if they finish worst in the NFL.

And of course straight after trading Coleman away, Cleveland's hopes of being able to polish up Antonio Calloway took a big hit with the "new starting WR" being cited for marijuana possession.

Lots to like here from Baker Mayfield. Obviously it's only the first preseason game and he's playing against second and third teamers, but he looks every bit the quarterback that could transform the Browns fortunes going forward.

Sure was impressed with the Texans last night, offensive line looked improved, both backup quarterbacks looked good, defense looked great at times. I'm glad they picked up Webb, he impressed me in the preseason game against Carolina last year loved his effort on this play:

Was a decent showing. The pass rush unit that started the game was excellent, particularly Ejiofor who looked a real physical threat. Offensive line looked mostly competent, particularly Davenport which is encouraging given his current position on the depth chart. Akins is a big fucker with good hands, it'll be interesting to see how Thomas and Griffin compare in the next few weeks.

I hate that i have been so excited for this season in football and all I see in the news today is talks about the fucking protesting again. Fuck man. So fucking annoying.
Anyways, Kelvin Benjamin a bitch. Yeah he scored on Carolina and “jumped into the stands” (he couldn’t stop himself and fell in). Then I read that he once said that he “purposely ran slow at the combine so he could fall to Carolina.” Man wtf you talking smack about the fit. Confirmed bitch and scrub.

The injury bug strikes in a terrible way. Sorry @originalhigga, this one hurts.
Rookie RB Derrius Guice of the Washington Redskins has a Torn ACL and is out for the season. Bummer! I really thought he was going to be a huge star this season and be in the running for OROTY. Sucks. I hope this season doesn't become a repeat of last season with injuries.

Another hyped up rookie tears his ACL. This time Colts WR Deon Cain. I’m seeing an uncomfortable pattern with injuries. Last year were the stars and this year the rookies? I hope not.

The Packers looked okay in their first preseason game , the standout to me was this young group of receivers that are going to create quite to headache for GOOT from cutdown day. MVS had a monster game , St. Brown had some nice plays and Aaron Rodgers favorite of the bunch Kumerow had a nice streaking down the sideline touchdown at the end. Of all the young guys , the highest picked (Moore) was the only one with the bad performance. It will be interesting to see that if that trend continues - he might be the odd man out.
Other than that , some of the younger secondary pieces looked okay and Oren Burks albeit RAW is a physical freak that we haven't seen in Green Bay on defense in sometime. I hope he can catch on quickly because he could be a difference maker , especially in sub packages that we've neeeded for a long time.

Packers/Steelers 51-34 tonight - both teams as you were with amazing offences and poor secondaries. Looks like Kizer will get the Green Bay backup job.

Another rookie bites the torn ACL dust. Patriots rookie Isiah Wynn has followed Derrius Guice of the Redskins and Deon Cain of the Colts with rookies tearing ACL's. Not to mention, Saquon The Don Barkley is battling a hamstring injury.

AJ McCarron has suffered a hairline fracture of the collarbone. Bummer for him. If the Bills are dumb enough to give Peterman the starting job over Josh Allen, Buffalo is going to go insane. I want to see these rookie QBs in action and I want to see what they're made of. It's time to just give the starting job to Josh Allen no matter how overrated Jalen Ramsey thinks he is. I think he'll be a bust, too, but I would much rather them give him the chance instead of giving it to Peterman. Bills have 2-14 written all over them.

Interesting that of the five first round quarterback picks, arguably the least NFL ready player in Allen is now likely to be starting much earlier than the others.
I didn't watch college ball last year but it seems like a lot of well-informed people think Allen ends up being a bust. What does PW think?

I haven't been able to watch either of Buffalo's pre-season games, but I've been reading that Josh Allen is doing well. Any truth to that or am I just hearing the comments of desperate Bills fans?
