The Timberwolves are trading Jimmy Butler to the Philadelphia 76ers for Dario Saric, Robert Covington and a 2nd round pick.


Not sure how this is better then the load of 1st round picks Houston offered them, but I guess they wanted to keep him out the West. Anyways, MAJOR trade for Philly.

Seems most likely that the man just likes what he likes and is secretive about it because he doesn’t want to be a target of jokes or harassment or doesn’t like that he likes it or whatever. It’s nobodys business but his.

I don't really, but thought maybe I'd try to get into it to supplement my Boston sports fandom (which is currently limited to fairweather Red Sox fandom).

The Celtics are apparently playing a Christmas special against the 76ers, and I've had more fun than I ever would've guessed I would so far... And/but that's largely because I mostly don't understand what's going on beyond the most basic 101 concepts.

Figured I'd pop into PW to see what others might be chirping about, see if I could learn a bit, but turns out I had to go to Page 2 for a thread that hasn't been posted in since November. So I'm guessing the rest of PW is as into the NBA as I was/am.

If the Lakers have any sense they won't trade any of their young core except for MAYBE Brandon Ingram and even that is a BIG maybe.  They just need some experience and confidence and tonight was a big boost in both areas.

I just want to say that Kawhi Leonard is a beast. Toronto fans are spoiled, because they have Top 5 player in two of their franchises. Matthews in Maple Leafs and Kawhi in Raptors. Enjoy it.

I've been saying Kawhi is the best player in the East since the start of the season.  A lot of folks want to say Giannis, but I can't endorse that until Giannis gets a jump shot.  I've seen games where Giannis left a good 10-15 points on the table because he wouldn't take open jumpers.  

Big injuries can suck the life out of a league. It’s fanbase left heartbroken.

That’s how it feels right now with the season ending injury to Victor Oladipo. Sure he’s not a major superstar in the NBA, but he’s the star of the Pacers. Him and Sabonis have been saviors to that franchise and they have been off to a great start this season. Nobody has them pegged as favorites to win the East, but with Lebron gone, they were going to make some noise in the playoffs this year. Now with Oladipo gone, it feels like the Pacers franchise just can’t catch a break. Devastating injury. I feel for the Pacers fan base.

Unless the Knicks somehow end up with Zion, that is an awful trade. Porzingis was given up for scraps here.

Yeah, but KP was the Unicorn of New York. They just traded a 23 year old for a guy they passed up on drafting for Frank fucking Nkitilina. I hope those 2 future 1st round picks are worth it. I also hope Zion comes to MSG.

So the first round picks the Knicks are receiving are: 2021 unprotected 1st round pick and 2023 protected 1st round pick.

Think it is a fair deal for both sides but would lean more to Dallas for getting more of a sure thing even if Porzingis is an unknown off injury. On the court he is a really good prospect and player and will only get better but he's shown to be very fickle behind the scenes and allowing his older brother Janis to run amok, almost in a facet that's a tier below Lavar Ball and his demands for Lonzo. The only difference being he isn't shoving his face all over media but still nevertheless Janis was being a nuisance with his demands back when Phil Jackson was around. I think the Knicks didn't want to deal with his antics moving forward even if his brother is very good. I don't think Porzingis wanted to be here long term and given what the team has surrounded him with, I can't say I blame him so I am happy he gets his wish to go elsewhere because he didn't want to be here and be the leader of the team. He lost trust(Fair or unfair) with the team's direction and given how past guys have done so, he wanted out and told the team that he wasn't up for being patient anymore and as he said last season around this time, he wanted pieces to be ADDED even if at the cost of draft picks and young guys. KP had a different vision than what Perry wanted to build and that's why he had to go.

Knicks get a decent package out of this, the real problem was giving THJR that deal to begin with which hurt the team. The first round picks are nice and you can always ship Dennis Smith out in a deal to cater to the LAL-NOH discussions given he's a Lebron guy and maybe if Lonzo cries enough, Pelicans may be up for swapping Ball to the Knicks if it means more compensation from LAL to get Dennis Smith running PG with Rondo. Or maybe he figures it out and does well in a much looser environment with a Pro LeBron guy like Fizdale. D. Jordan may be auditioning for a spot moving forward if he does well but maybe is trade bait before next Thursday.

I think people saying Mavs overwhelmingly won haven't been following KP's career like most Knicks fans have and are seeing this as "LOLKnicksLOL" which isn't the correct way in looking this through. The off the court negotiations and fickleness comes with the good play of Porzingis.

Which if they have the worst record they should get Zion. 

Worst record doesn’t dictate who wins the lottery though. I could see the Knicks getting screwed and falling out of the top 3 lol.
