The Seahawks have terminated the contracts of Kam Chancellor and Doug Baldwin.
Expected, but it's the end of the Seahawks that we once knew. It's the Russ/Metcalf team now.

Seattle are going to have a really tough time replacing Baldwin, and that's from a team that were already struggling to have any real passing offence. Tyler Lockett had a nice breakout season but they'll really be relying on DK Metcalf (and we know the recent track record of highly drafted receivers) and David Moore (who completely vanished over the last five games) to step up.
Wouldn't be surprised to see them lead the league in rushing again this season.

They could have Beckham Jr, Julio Jones, whoever. It won't matter.
They have the worst offensive coordinator in the game today who has Russell Wilson running for his life and having to throw on the run with tight precision passes and has a terrible inability to not open up the game and make proper adjustments for over a decade now.

Metcalf isn’t the type of receiver to replace Baldwin. Completely different games.
Honestly this would be an interesting spot for Dez.

Sad day. Buffalo Bills legend EJ Manuel has retired. This inspired me to take a look at the 2013 draft, and oh boy is that some ugly reading. People talk a lot about Locker, Gabbert and Ponder going in the top 15 in 2011, but at least that draft had Cam Newton and an elite top 16. The '13 QB class is just awful, as is most of the first round. Houston getting Nuk Hopkins at #27 is an amazing pick in hindsight when there are so many first rounders that are just mediocre players, or out of the league entirely.

Those were dark days in Bills drafting history too. They went into that draft saying out loud "we're taking a QB" knowing full well that there was nothing to choose from. Manuel would have been a good pick had he been selected by a team that developed players properly and had a good O-line, two things Buffalo didn't have. Dude was doomed from the start.
Had they waited a year they had the 4th overall pick. They miss out on Bortles by one pick, but if you look further down the list, Teddy Bridgewater was taken at 32 and Derek Carr at 36. Garoppolo at 62. Would Buffalo have grabbed one of them then when they were even more desperate for a QB?
No, instead they decide they're all in on Manuel and try to grab receivers and offensive linemen. Sammy Watkins couldn't leave Buffalo fast enough and I don't even recognize any of the other names they took in that draft.

Holy shit yeah that class is terrible. What a brutal top ten. Lame Johnson is easily the best player in the Top 10. Hopkins is great and Rhodes and Frederick are the other two standouts.

There are some standouts in later rounds though including Ertz , Kielce and Jordan Reed. The Packers got the best LT in football in Bahktiari. Matthieu and Keenan Allen were in that draft.
Also can’t forget Leveon Bell.

Le'Veon Bell at 48th overall. Jesus.
I love looking back at older drafts for this reason, especially in the NFL. It seems like the hardest draft to predict. Hockey and basketball always have standouts that you know are going top ten and are probably going to make the team they're on better. Yeah there are exceptions and late gems but generally you know who the good players are.
The NFL draft is such a crap shoot sometimes. Like look at fucking Tom Brady! Man.

I remember the concern on Bell coming out was his college workload because he carried the ball nearly 400 times in his last season at Michigan State. I went back and looked at some pre-draft coverage and Josh Norris had him mocked to the Giants at #116(!) while Mayock had him tied with Andre Ellington as his fifth best running back (behind Eddie Lacy, Montee Ball, Gio Bernard and Andre Ellington). In the end Bernard was the only RB picked before him, and he hasn't been a bad player.
Two good receiving backs in the late rounds Chris Thompson and Theo Riddick that year. Those turned out to be great value picks.

I remember wanting Lacy in the first , and being ecstatic to get him in the 2nd and preferred him to Bell. I was okay on that prediction for like two seasons until Lacy realized the Wisconsin food scene is too good to pass up. Fucker.

That draft was garbage. Especially for the Jets who had three top 40 picks and none of them are still on the roster since the 2017 season.
Sheldon Richardson was damn good vs the run but he was way too unreliable off the field. Dee Milliner was soft as shit and always hurt and lousy speed in coverage, Geno Smith got bent over in his development and never found "it" to recover. Brian Winters is a mediocre guard who had one good contract year and is back to his lousy self, Oday Abushi is a backup guard. Man this class was bad.
Idzik was a lousy GM but this year was pretty bare bones.
Imagine if they didn't get Richardson and trade Revis for that pick. Ouch.

What a great move by the Jets getting rid of GM Mike McCagnnan AFTER the draft and AFTER free agency and now giving Adam Gase player control.....because that worked so well in Miami.
So stupid. So oblivious. Mike McCagnan sucked but cmon why now in the middle of May?
EDIT: Supposedly this might have been done to accommodate Adam Gase by linking him with Eagles VP Joe Douglas. He's supposedly a good talent finder.....

What the fuck just happened with the Jets?! So weird. Daniel Jeremiah might be going with Douglas as the two key front office guys, Jeremiah will be responsible for the draft..... My god. Yes that Daniel Jeremiah, the one who just replaced Mayock. Might as well have Rich Eisen run the show.

No god dammit , Jeremiah is one of the , if not the best "analyst" left out there , especially as far as drafts go. And he is great to listen to every week and gives some incredible insight. First Mayock , now DJ.
Can't someone just fucking take Bucky Brooks already. He's the one worthless one out there.

Everyone seems to be freaking out about the timing here, but now seems about as logical as it ever would be to get a new GM, right? Gives him the longest time possible to prepare for next years draft and free agency.

Darron Lee fetching the Jets a sixth round pick is awful. Lee is a terrible leader but he is quick and good in pass coverage, Spags will like him. I have skeptism of him as a 4-3 MLB though he's too small.
Lee only getting that much is the epitome of why Mccagnan is out of a job. That's terrible. Worthwhile flier for Chiefs, Thought maybe the Bengals would get the Ohio guy.

I thought Jacksonville would be the place for Lee after Telvin Smith walked away.
Not sure why you are blaming this on McCagnan though! This has INTERIM GM GASE written all over it.

It was his draft pick though him and Toddy. Im shocked Toddy didn't fight with Arians hard enough to get him to steal playing time from White in fact if this was the cost.

Lee fits in with that group though. Fucking bitch made player has his momma do the deal workings like his former teammate and fellow NY bust Eli Apple. Soft azz motherfucker.
Would rather smoke weed and be suspended for the remainder of last year then take it in the chin with his team. And would gave stuck a girl at a concert had it not been for Leonard Williams litetarily grabbing his dumb ass aside.
Fits right on that team with Tyreek Hill and Frank Clark. Another guy who'd strike a woman if given the chance.
Fuckin bitch made bust.

Peyton Manning if he ever thinks of considering the Jets means Eli Manning will not have to sell his NYC area home and he will back up Darnold in 2020. Eli will have a job locked up regardless of how he does this year.

I don't really understand what Adam Gase thinks he's trying to do by putting out these comments that he didn't want Bell and/or thinks he is being overpaid. I guess you could argue he might be using it as motivation (but I think Bell has enough of that re-proving that he is an elite player and not just the beneficiary of a good situation in Pittsburgh) or possibly that he's pre-empting the blame if things don't go well this season because Bell wasn't his ideal fit for his offence - but I think he's risking much more than he stands to gain from either of those two factors. Perfectly reasonable to think to himself that the contract was too much, but I think you want to embrace your new star wholeheartedly in public given he left his old team because he felt underappreciated and had relationships break down.

Well the Redskins continue to have bad injuries happen in the OTAs.
Newly acquired Reuben Foster was carted off the field today with a leg injury. Karma possibly.
