Having someone elicit the "you can't wrestle" chant doesn't indicate successful heel heat. Ryback would get xpac heat at best.

WWE wants Hangman bad.  They tried before Bullet Club to get him and he heldoff.  Then they offered him main event money before he opted to go to AEW.  I do not think he will ever John Cena big, but I can see him being a JBL like top draw in WWE.  Guy is rock solid and is a lot like Ziggler where if you want to get someone over you give them to the Hangman.

I don't even think he would be a heel.  Smarks love Ryback as his gimmick is so stupidly simple it is fun.  The problem is he believes his hype and he super hard to work with backstage.  Well and his social media stuff will lead to issues down the line sooner or later.

He's come a long way.

Before he got the Hangman monicker, he was the 'lesser' Adam of ROH. Cole had him on promos, charisma and matches, but Page kept chipping away. In 2016 he aligned himself with the Bullet Club which proved a masterstroke for him because it forced him to up his game and work with higher quality opponents. He started working NJPW and while he wasn't one of the better members of the roster, there was a noticeable improvement in his work and he was beginning to own it a lot more.

He's yet to make that jump from being a great enhancement talent, to a genuine draw and from the sounds of it, that's something they want to fix in AEW. He's the name they've been pushing which sounds strange, but considering Jay White is now a main event talent in NJPW anything is possible.

From my POV, it doesn't seem like Ryback did anything wrong. It seems like the table cracked in a weird place. I'm sure Ryback was "reckless", but that's a bad example. Nothing Ryback could've done to make that less reckless.

This is why I struggle so much internally when it comes to Punk. I dislike him so much that it really does border on irrational hate, but then he pulls out matches like he did with Brock and Cena and his color commentary and pipe bomb promo, and it's like... fuck, I still hate you but have been begrudgingly entertained by you.

Punk is an incredible heel, and I would hire the prick in a second in a role similar to Jericho. The man can talk underwater, and if it's buzz they want, it's CM Punk and a microphone.
