So Billy Gunn is just a production worker right? I won't have to worry about him competing in the ring? Having said that, both Pac and Jericho are two big names right out of the gate. Sounds like Gunn maybe doing both. I would not push him to the top. I think he could be a great veteran presence for both a tag team and a name to get younger guys over.

I have friends, and I have family.. would I work with them? No, not all of them. If Dave had any real talent, he would have been snapped up by at least one of the companies that came into fruition in his life-time. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't remember the business ever taking his opinion seriously, to the point of employment. He was on the WWE pay-roll in the early 90s before the steroid scandal.
Makes sense. Dude is jacked!

Someone made a great point on FB.
AEW is funded by a billionaire pumping millions into a wrestling company that intends on competing with the WWE, and looks to continue to sign away talent from Vince, and feed it under-card with independent talent. While giving full creative control to it's top talent.
How is this different to WCW?

In a lot of ways.
WCW was essentially Georgia Championship Wrestling, which existed in the 40s and had local TV by the 60s. It rose to national prominence in the 70s thanks to the SuperStation and Turner bought the company twelve years later in '88.
AEW spawned from a podcast two years ago, where Cody Rhodes bet Meltzer he could sell out a 10K arena. It's a completely new entity, and it remains to be seen how it will perform.

It's very similar to TNA too.

I was told Cody is reaching out to CM Punk.
Wonder if Hogan will get involved since he only lives a few miles away in Clearwater?

Funnily a parody of the nWo, has done exactly what nWo tried to do, become a brand within itself, a stand alone promotion.

The OGs feuded with The Elite/Bullet Club split during the G1 and called themselves the Firing Squad. The story didn’t really go anywhere but resulted in the GoD winning the tag titles. Then Gedo left CHAOS and aligned himself with Jay White after turning on Okada, then they joined the OGs and just sort of became Bullet Club again while some other members (Chase Owens, Taiji) resurfaced. Anyway it was a whole thing and The Elite haven’t been aligned with Bullet Club basically since Omega defended the IWGP title against Cody Rhodes after Dominion. They buried the hatchet and Elite became its own thing.

Re: Punk. Cody & co. would be stupid to not at least offer him something. They tried to get him for All In so it only makes sense to try again.
I’d be stunned if they signed him though. I really dont think he’ll ever wrestle again, but who knows. AEW would be right up his alley and it would be hilarious if Punk returned for one night only and went there to fight Omega or Cody.

Bullet Club may be alive and well in its current ‘Switchblade’ era but it’s like suggesting Pearl Jam is alive and well if the band goes on after Eddie Vedder decides to quit and they replace him with Myles Kennedy. Technically you’re right, but most casual fans or potential cross over fans don’t/won’t care.

News today makes it seem like Jon Moxley is jumping. Given WWE never used his sick man persona, can't blame him.

I'd be surprised if KENTA wants to stay in the USA, not working for WWE. I imagine his most likely destination is NOAH.
KENTA joining AEW would be basically the only thing that would make me watch. Not even Omega does that for me. Never cared for the Elite guys wrestling together. Kenny was always better on his own, or with Ibushi.

I’m actually disappointed that Omega is going to AEW. He’s light years ahead of the rest of the people in that company, and aside from kind of wanting to see Omega vs PAC, I just don’t care.

Who cares about The Elite? First of all Jericho makes anything worth watching. Then Omega and Moxley are fantastic and definitely going to put on great matches. Also I thought you didn't even like KENTAAAA anymore now that he was Hideo.

Who cares about The Elite? You can't just disregard The Elite because they are the guys who created AEW. I'm fine for Cody and The Bucks to leave NJPW, they can shove it, but they went and took Omega with them, and who's to say that Ibushi won't follow? That is not good. First of all Jericho makes anything worth watching. Then Omega and Moxley are fantastic and definitely going to put on great matches. Also I thought you didn't even like KENTAAAA anymore now that he was Hideo. Jericho is great, but not quite that great. Moxley is terrible. Hideo Itami is a mediocre version of KENTA, but he will find his groove if he returns to Japan. Might take some time to readjust, but he could very well be Emperor's favourite wrestler once more.

I don’t care who they “take with them” as long as the people they take are putting on good matches somewhere I will be happy. Cody and the Bucks aren’t my favorite but they are pretty good too anyway and could certainly put on good matches with these guys. Jericho is great, but not quite that great. Moxley is terrible. Hideo Itami is a mediocre version of KENTA, but he will find his groove if he returns to Japan. Might take some time to readjust, but he could very well be Emperor's favourite wrestler once more. Jericho doesn’t have to be great on his own. The point is the more great people they take, the more great matches are going to happen with all of them. In any case, top talent having creative control pretty much guarantees the shows will be better than WWE writing so I don’t understand what you are worried about. Even if AEW fails, the people they take will probably just go back to other promotions.

I think this is my overall feeling about AEW as well. The gulf between Omega and Cody is big enough but the gulf between Omega and Joey Janela is just so massive. It would take Ambrose, KENTA, Ibushi and someone else of that calibre signing on to make it feel anywhere close to the big deal others seem to think it is. It's a cool idea, Jericho and PAC help, and I really want them to succeed, but there is no where near enough yet for it to be all that exciting. As good as Adam Page is getting, him squaring up to Neville doesn't make me loose my mind. What it all represents is really more exciting than the reality and if there is no deal with NJPW then it's hard to see it not as a step backwards for Kenny in terms of exciting matches.

He knows Vince will pay him whatever he wants and this is an opportunity to squeeze another million or two out of him. That’s all.
