Realizing Moxley jumping means Switchblade is coming back, I am getting super psyched for AEW now. Really hoping Moxley and Sami grow the stable out to feud with the Elite. Jericho would fit right in with his new gimmick.
With KENTA wanting to jump ship, we are finally seeing real competition for WWE and things should get exciting in WWE with AEW making them finally work for their spot.

You guys are all a bunch of negative nancies. Except c, who is too positive.
I am cautiously optimistic AEW could be great, but I’m not going to assume they are going to become powerful competition for WWE.

My biggest concern is if so many WWE people leave because they were being under-utilised and sign with AEW they will be in the same position because AEW won’t have the same amount of content.
WWE has RAW SD 205 Live Main Event
+ House shows & PPV’s
Development NXT NXT UK
Not to mention the filler content they have on the network and still manage to not showcase a large portion of their roster.
AEW obviously isn’t going to match that nor should they. So hopefully AEW are smart and don’t go signing crazy but it looks like they are handling it well so far.

That is smart thinking to be worried about that. Fortunately, Cody mentioned being worried about that very same thing himself during an interview and stated he is going to hire selectively to prevent any issues in that regard.
This also proves that Cody is at least as smart as System and thus will run the company well! Success is imminent!

No way Lesnar signs to AEW. UFC - maybe.

You never know. If he’s willing to do either UFC or WWE depending on who pays more, then if AEW pays more he might do that too...
Plus with Jericho there it gives them some credibility so it’s not like it’s completely unprestigious.

How can you have that wealth of talent and exposure and have anyone on your roster feeling like they want to leave because they can’t be creative or get the air time they think they deserve? It’s ridiculous.

I’ll tell you how to do that. You hire a bunch of TV writers that know nothing about wrestling and give them full creative control of the show forever.

God I'm going to get so exhausted with "X is heading to AEW!" every single time a wrestler leaves. It's seriously making me hate AEW already.
One of the best memes I've seen since the organization was announced: "AEW is just a T-Shirt company until they host a show."

Do AEW even have their first show booked yet?

Yeah it's pretty annoying. Do AEW even have their first show booked yet? Double or Nothing scheduled for May. All-In 2 in Jacksonville in September. No card for either. No TV yet.

I imagine they are doing more than two shows in the whole year with the salaries they are paying out.

I think they’ll strike up a TV deal after Double Or Nothing but I’d be surprised if they had a television show before 2020.
If they only do 2 shows this year they better be fucking unbelievable shows.

No way he goes elsewhere but lol at him implying he would during meetings. I'm almost convinced aew is just a rib by the boys to get paydays... Like gfw I'm not even certain if it will exist. AEW is a T-Shirt company right now. Not much more.

How can you have that wealth of talent and exposure and have anyone on your roster feeling like they want to leave because they can’t be creative or get the air time they think they deserve? It’s ridiculous. They also hire talents with success else where, who had creative freedom, worked the way they wanted to work and then attempt to turn them into WWE Superstars - who in turn don't have that same freedom. Ask them to work with television and jib cameras in mind, and have their movesets limited, not to stifle creativity, but to ensure safety and longevity.
You can have a TV spot weekly, but when you're not used to being told what to do and expected to do it. That can be hard, and it's just as much on the talent as it's on the company creative.
You have to wonder why guys like Anderson and Gallows and even Mike Bennett can walk into main roster positions while other apparently more talented workers and equal or more experience or success spend years in developmental. It's because they can and will literally do the job. Be a WWE Superstar, not an independent in a WWE world.

AEW is already on-track to be the biggest disappointment in wrestling solely because fans don’t know how to temper expectations.

AEW is a T-Shirt company right now. Not much more.
I am really not getting the point of this statement being said repeatedly. It's not like the company isn't actively doing a lot of work to try and put things together. A company is by no means just the sum of its public output. That's like saying a video game company is "just a time-drain for the employees" until they release their first game. The only thing this remark accomplishes is devaluing the unfinished work that people are putting in or trying to somehow criticize people being expectant.
Things aren't just nothing and then something suddenly all at once. There is obviously a process of progression until there is a product for consumers to enjoy. We already know there are AEW shows happening. They are not just going to create T-shirts at these shows.
Like imagine if there was a highly anticipated game in development for years about to come out the next day and people were excited for it and some guy was like "That company does nothing except make game trailers. Nothing special about them."
There's nothing wrong with cautiously looking forward to something because there's a good chance it will be good. Yeah, it could be shit. Who knows? We can't tell the future, but I'm pretty damn sure Jericho wrestling Omega more, which has a high probability of happening, is going to be awesome at the very least because we've already seen them do it and it was awesome.

It's a hyperbolic frame of reference for everyone that is anointing AEW as a game-changer in the industry, when to date, it's sole impact on fandom and sole revenue stream is T-Shirts. Lots of start-ups involve a ton of work on the front end, but until it has a product that can be consumed, it's still "in development." The only consumption at this point from AEW are T-Shirts, with announced shows down the road. It's not an insult; it's a fact.

It’s a fact that AEW is a T-shirt company? They are not. You are clearly missing the point. It is a metaphor.
T-shirts being their sole-revenue stream thus far is what is a fact, or close to it.
Again though, the statement itself of saying they are a T-shirt company is pointless since everyone knows what their current source of income is...which is completely irrelevant to anything or what the company is trying to do or why people are excited at the potential.

The only realistic reason in saying that I would think is to criticize people for being excited. Similar to “don’t count your chickens before they hatch” since AEW doesn’t even have a TV deal yet.
There is plenty of valid reasoning for people to get excited with anticipation though so why try and criticize it.
A TV deal and more shows are most probably coming.

AEW reminds me of a dotcom boom internet company. A couple of young bucks come up with a great idea, they convince someone to give them a tone of cash. Sean Parker in the physical form of Chris Jericho moseys on up, and attaches himself to the project and hopefully convinces them to drop the ' All ' and go with ' Elite Wrestling '.. it's cleaner. More importantly, they put someone in charge of creative that isn't a worker.

What doesn't AEW remind you of nath45?
Entertainment?
First it was WCW, then it was the nWo now it's the Social Network.
AEW has the potential to be a good show, but it's going to take time. Outside of Being The Elite and some of the signings, it's difficult to get a feel for the promotion, but the most important signings they're going to make is behind the scenes. AEW can't settle for being WWE-lite, they need to challenge the WWE from a production stand-point and find ways to shoot the product that catches the casual fan's eyes. If nothing else, Nitro's biggest success was building an eye-catching set, putting together a great opening package and presenting the show like a professional sports coverage. If AEW tries a DIY approach, they're dead in the water. If they just try and copy the WWE, they'll be dead in the water. They need to aim higher if they want to gain ground.

They don't have to be/shouldn't be/won't be a competitor to WWE out of the gate but they ideally are doing something different and scratching an itch that WWE isn't.

I mean, based on spending (wasting?) money on All-In, they swear, have blood, do more flips, and run some of the most Russo-riffic angles I've ever seen.
Which shouldn't be surprising that a bunch of guys that grew up on the Attitude era are replicating "they're" type of wrestling.
So yeah ...

What doesn't AEW remind you of nath45? Entertainment? First it was WCW, then it was the nWo now it's the Social Network. 1. Wrestlers booking themselves, backed by a billionaire - WCW.
2. Bullet Club - nWo parody.
3. The victim of a conspiracy attaching himself to the next big thing - Facebook.

Lucha Bros are AEW bound. Pretty big get for the indie scene.
Apparently The Young Bucks showed up at a show last night and said they should come wrestle for AEW, then they all shook hands. Then Chris Jericho tweeted about it.
Pentagon vs Jericho - No DQ please.
