Yup. Funny part is Jericho, Kahn etc. take so many jabs at WWE creative yet teaming Andrade with Trinidad is textbook WWE creative so it's like pot meets kettle at some point.

So he's still trying to do some good even with the backlash he's getting over the gimmick.

Janela will always have a standing within AEW because of his close ties with Lauderdale of GCW as AEW and GCW want to keep that relationship tight. Janela has also brought in people like Marko Stunt, Penelope Ford and a few others to AEW so he's seen as a whisperer of some sorts for finding talent from the outlaw mudshow scene.

That's kind of where the issue lies. The thing with Borat is that everyone watching was already in on the joke. Janela/AEW didn't do that part, so there was all this "is Janela a Trumper!?" stuff going on and now they're in damage control mode. Not smart, and they didn't need to do that to themselves.
