DOING! DOING! NO GOOD!
That is how the Wildcard Round ended last week as Cody Parkee broke the hearts of the Chicago crowd. Sure it was tipped and he gave a great speech, but I spent a good portion of the Monday after watching YouTube videos of peoples live reactions to the final kick and Chicago wouldn't give a fuck if they knew it was tipped. I don't know if it's Chicago, though. It might be Saint Nick AKA the reigning, defending Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles and his playoff magic. The Philadelphia Eagles will now to travel to take on the team they should've faced in the NFC Championship last year if not for another miracle AKA the Minneapolis Miracle. That team is the favorites to win it all, could've won it all last year too (btw) and that team is the New Orleans Saints. Obviously this is the main event of the weekend and it should be fun to see how it goes. Sean Payton bought cash money and a Lombardi trophy to the locker room to show his team what they are playing for. It got them amped up and ready to go. Oh, also, interesting fact: Drew Brees and Nick Foles went to the same High School. Get ready to hear that 100 times Sunday. Anyways, as for my pick; I'm taking the best team. I think the miracle run finally comes to an end and I don't know if New Orleans lets this remain close in the 4th quarter. Give me the Saints winning 34-17.
Sundays games will open up with the Los Angeles San Diego Chargers traveling to Foxborough to take on the defending AFC Champions, the New England Patriots. It almost seems ridiculous this time of the year to bank on a team in the AFC to beat the Patriots, but I have this rooting sensation to see Philip Rivers get to the promised land joining Eli and Big Ben from his draft class. Winning it all can't happen without getting through another demon and that demon is the Patriots. When Rivers was running atop the AFC with Ladanian Tomlinson, they couldn't get over the hump. Why should they now? Are they better then they were then? No, but I also don't think the Patriots are better then they were then or even last season. The Chargers are suited for road games because their home games are even road games. The Patriots dynasty has last seasons crack start falling apart after this one. I do think it's close, but I think Derwin James is about to make himself a legend in this game with a game sealing interception. I'm taking the Chargers to win 27-21.
Things kick off today and they kick off with an AFC showdown between the Indianapolis Colts traveling to Arrowhead to take on the top dogs of the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs. The last time they faced in the playoffs, Andrew Luck led a historic comeback as Kansas City watched a huge lead vanish. The beauty of this run for the Colts is even if they lose, they made enough noise this season to be praised and get looked at as a real threat next season. This is a win/win situation they are in, especially after knocking out division foe Houston out of the playoffs last week. However, on the other side, the Kansas City Chiefs can NOT lose. Too many demons for Andy Reid. Too much promise from Patrick Mahomes and Company this season. They can not go into the playoffs and lose in their first game. I don't see it happening and I don't see this one being close. Expect this game to be over by halftime, but expect entertainment from that high powered offense. I'm taking the Chiefs to win 45-17.
The main event of tonight will feature the Dallas Cowboys traveling to LA to face the Los Angeles Rams. Dak Prescott played the game of his life last week as he outplayed Russel Wilson and dare I say it; was the reason they won that game with his playmaking ability. I've been hard on him as I feel Amari Coopers YAC help make Dak look like he's putting up great numbers. Dump off passes to Zeke help also. But to be fair, who else is he supposed to throw it to? Michael Gallup is too young. Blake Jarwin might be their answer at TE in the post-Witten era, but it's still too early. Hurns suffered a gruesome injury, so who is there? "Cowboy" Cole Beasley? Their weapons are limited, but he does have 2 major pieces. It wouldn't be fair to talk about the Cowboys without talking about that D. That defense has been amazing this year. We watched them shut out some high powered offenses this season like the Saints. We also saw how the Rams look when they face a strong D when they faced the Bears. The Rams are extremely good on offense. The loss of Cooper Kupp has been talked about and rightfully so; that dude was such a crucial part to that offense. I miss him! If Todd Gurley is healthy, this team is too good to lose here. It's time for Peters and Talib to play the way they were paid to play on defense and shut down Cooper. Suh needs to become King Kong, again and then there's Aaron Donald.... everyones favorite defensive player. Although I will be cheering for the Cowboys tonight, I just don't see them winning. It will be a fun game that will be kept close by the Cowboys D, but in the end, the Rams offense finds a way to make it too hard to catch up. A garbage time TD by Prescott to Zeke makes the score tight, but an onside kick recovered by the Rams ends it. I'm taking the Rams to win 26-23.
I just realized an "imagine" scenario. Imagine we get Chiefs/Chargers and Cowboys/Eagles in the Championship Games? Two division rivals battling it out for a spot in the Super Bowl. That would be dope! Good luck to the fans of the teams still in the playoffs right now. Unfortunately, we'll be without Ultimate Warrior Shinobi this round, but maybe Blindy will surprise us with some Adam Gase truthing. Whatever it is, I am excited. There is 8 and after this week, there will be 4!
ARE YOU READY FOR SOME PLAYOFF FOOOOOOTTTTBALLLLLLLLLLLL?!?!?!?!? LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOO!
