Brees would have destroyed all these defensive mistakes. No way to be sure. If Tom Brady can shit the bed anyone can.
Goff has been shocking though. Hopefully he comes back from this. I'm sure he will.

Yeah, as disappointing as it was for the game to turn on the phantom hold on the center, that's still only one call, and Goff had a wide open guy after that which could have been a TD. This is Goff choking, plain and simple.

So, Eddleman MVP? Someone on defense? Or does Tom get the credit for the single solid drive? Gostowski should probably get it.

I voted for Edelman.
Pulled in better numbers than Deion Branch. The only other Patriot not named Brady, to win the MVP.

I lost boxes and I lost my 555 bet because I went on the over instead of the under.
My wife won $93 bucks because she bet just a 100 on the Pats covering. Whatever.
Money comes. Money goes.

We're never gonna see a dynasty run like this again in our lifetime. Yeah, the Pats are definitely the best run ever, a 20 year success like no other. Consistently stacked on both sides of the ball. The chance of another front office with that sort of consistent success is such a long shot.

Fucking love you Greg Zuerlein.
And Gostowski for missing that 1stbkick too.
Mcvay and Goff can go Fuck off and it sucks to see this Pat team do it yet again but damn this shit is fucking huge. I NEVER win these types of things before.
I drew 3-3 and 7-3 for Rams as two of my four numbers. I would have been irate if that kick went through. 20 dollars in, 500 out. Shit if it went 3-3 or 7-3 Rams after the first I would have been giddy to come out with 50 bucks but to win it all?
Bragging rights in the office man. I told em those two numbers are golden.

Both Goff and the offensive line were awful. Goff was overthrowing guys, hitting them in their feet, throwing over their head, etc..etc.. doing anything but hitting them in stride. The offensive line was bullied all game, giving up sacks and pressure, and getting stuffed on running downs.
Also whoever #66 was for the Rams looked like friggin Ereck Flowers tonight.

McVay wasn’t great but Goff missed plenty of throws and reads that changes the entire game. He was late on that touchdown throw to Cooks and lobbed the pass , he took points off the board missing a wide open receiver over the middle and instead threw into double coverage and he took more points off the board with the INT.
Not to mention the two or three inexplicable sacks he took.
It’s easy to look at the score and assume McVay called a bad game , but he put Goff in position to succeed over and over again and Goff fucking blew it.

Eh McVay made zero adjustments to the moment. I felt like there was a world of possibility in the third down screen game he never went to against the Pats aggression, never changed the pace of play, and came in with a game plan that was just crushed from the first drive of the game.
Goff looked pretty bad too (I didn’t notice inexplicable sacks, so much as plays he never had a chance on), but I have minimal expectations of Goff because he’s not a particularly great QB and Gurley has been a mystery since the KC game. The hype’ been on McVay and Belichick just came in on defense and took out everything this team was good at.

At least Brady wasn't gifted the MVP when Eddleman, Gostowski, and Gilmore (maybe even Michel) were all more deserving. JE definitely deserved it.
Pats last 3 rings were off of epic choke jobs. The dumb pass, Ryan's meltdown, and now Goff's gamelong failure.

The Atlanta game is tough because their defence disappeared in the 2nd half and Ryan forgot how to QB, but that was still a big hill to climb so Brady gets some credit there. And now this game. Bill Burr mentioned on his podcast last week that he had people telling him Gurley was hurt. He shrugged it off but now I dunno. Maybe? Man...that game was so dumb.

Yeah. We were due for a boring SB game though. We’ve been on an awesome run since that Denver/Seattle SB. At least it wasn’t that bad.
But I’m glad TB12 wins and goes to 6-3, because 5-4 would’ve been eh.

Defense was what really turned around that Falcons game, Brady gets all the credit, but first they forced a fumble, and then they continually drove the offense off the field, which ended up tiring the Falcons D out, letting Brady walk right over them. Brady does still deserve his share of credit, but I think the defense isn't given nearly enough for that one. They led it, and Brady took advantage.
And people try to defend the Lynch one like "Well throughout the year..." shut up, we're not talking about the year, that Pats D-line was badly gassed and Lynch was getting at least that every run, no excuse. And yeah, Russel Wilson's awful ball placement on a pass the receiver telegraphed far too much didn't help, but you gotta run that.
I just can't give the Pats front office enough credit though, Brady doesn't get 6 rings on 9 trips if they're not consistently surrounding him with talent though (though he's still one of the best you'll ever see, not negging that). It's remarkable how well they've built the team in such a cost effective manner. Top class O-Lines, world class kickers, so many great WR's (never going for the very best, just a compliment of highly capable targets), the single most dominant TE of all time (could have been two if Hernandez wasn't a scumbag), then more often than not, top defenses. With any number of great runners (though less consistent on that front). I can't imagine another team getting 6 rings in so short of a time, because I can't imagine that sort of brilliant roster building for so long of a duration. If they keep it going, the league is going to be in trouble for years to come, even when a new QB comes to town.

There was the quick screen they hit that started off the nice drive that ended up in the Cooks dropped TD and then interception that showed that if there was a way to achieve anything against the Pats defence, they needed to get the ball out of Goff's hands quickly and get a playmaker in space. Belichick had all the answers to their downfield passing game, Cooks/Woods were just getting swallowed up. I thought Goff was actually hanging in there reasonably well considering he was getting battered by the pass rush. He missed a couple of throws but then so did Brady. The Rams O-line has been a major strength of theirs but they just got destroyed today. I haven't seen any hit/hurried stats yet but it felt like he was under pressure practically every time he dropped back.

I only remember maybe 3 to 4 times he wasn't hurried, the Rams O-line really laid an egg, especially the guards.

To think, if Brady makes it back next year, he'll tie with the great Otto Graham for the most championship game appearances.

To think, if Brady makes it back next year, he'll tie with the great Otto Graham for the most championship game appearances. Yeah we’re all thinking of this today... Anyway, @hr and thereallt I tend to agree that it felt like Goff rarely ever got a clean pocket, which definitely led to him shorting the INT either from real or perceived pressure. I thought he looked bad (and so did Brady), but I thought McVay needed to make things easier and he just never seemed to. I’d be easier on him if we hadn’t just spent a season reading about his greatness and the last month hiring everyone he’s ever known to coach teams. He was probably about an average NFL coach in the game, but his reputation is such to be somewhere in same ballpark as Belicheck and he just wasn’t close. That being said, Rags saluted the front office, I’ll salute Belicheck. I’ve never really bought into Brady as GOAT conversations as I have come around on QB wins, and I just think the eye/stat test suggests there have been better individual QB performances that don’t have the same support. On the other hand I’d like to know who would have even a claim to be better than Belicheck as a head coach, and don’t give me Lombardi because the game is so significantly harder now that it’s like Checkers and Chess. Brady being great is obviously important to him, but Brady is 41, putting up 13 points in the SB and his maligned defense dominates the game.

I’m just really curious what the hell happened with Todd Gurley. I mean, we’re talking about this injury but TG is saying he’s fine. Then we have CJ Anderson being his mentor. Meanwhile, pre-CJ, TG was the best RB in the league. I figured maybe they were resting him for him to go off for 200 yards in the Super Bowl but he was invisible. Them missing Kupp was so big for them and they could never find a replacement for him. Everett wasn’t doing it.
I just don’t know how you only score 3 points and you have TG invisible the whole game. That just doesn’t make any sense to me.

I think this has got to go down as the greatest postseason coaching job of all time. They gave up a combined 7 points in the first half of three games - against the top three offences by DVOA during the highest scoring NFL season ever - that's absolutely insane! Belichick is obviously the GOAT but he's got a pretty amazing staff - Brian Flores barely got talked about at all yet preparing his unit to completely change from man coverage like they were most of the year to 90% zone in the biggest game of the season is crazy. And that's ignoring the fact that in general this isn't a particularly "talented" team on paper. They probably don't have a defensive player you would put in the top 30 in the league, I talked about how the O-line are a bunch of mid-round picks, and they literally don't even have a WR1.
