Didn't mind the Dark action this week. I remain mildly intrigued by Cassandra Golden although she didn't get to do much in her match. Dani Jordan did one of the best injury sell jobs I've seen in a long time, the way she just collapsed on an Irish whip looked very real. Red Velvet has a lot of athleticism and is a lot more interesting that the other girls they have used as enhancement talent. Anna Jay has star potential but she's still very green. She felt very paint by numbers here: hit move, talk to camera, hit move, yell at crowd.

AEW really neglects the women, I thought the Baker/Swole thing was kinda good though. Rebel is so good, glad she is getting the TV time.

Sonny Kiss being the first lady is all that needs to be said. Surprised Deeb gave Rosa that much of a fight, thought it would be more dominating.

Thunder Rosa vs Serena was really good both need to be signed. Rosa was her usual great self, but Deeb really impressed me and seemed much more creative in the ring than I remembered her being in the past.

I do like she brought her own person to work with probably because she seen have bad AEW women division (excluding Shida) is.

That was by far the best thing AEW has put on since the Shida/Ford PPV match. It's been a really lean period. I'm really looking forward to Rosa challenging Hikaru, that should be a great match. I know Rosa has other interests, NWA is starting up again and she's running her own promotion, but AEW should be doing everything they can to convince her to stay with them permanently. Serena would be well worth signing as well (assuming she doesn't want to go back to coaching) as she's experienced and fundamentally sound which a lot of the division could benefit from.

Unfortunately this was offset by them making another disappointing decision by putting Britt vs Swole on the preshow. This feud has been going on for months, and it's the only storyline driven feud they've ever booked for the women, to not put it on the main card is another indication of how they value the division.

Yeah, this caught my eye too. Baker has been one of the highlights of the show post-lockdown, she's entertaining every week. I don't really care about Swole but as you say, so much has gone into the build of this angle. Really surprised to see it on the pre-show.

I agree completely on Rosa and Serena too. They would both raise the mean level of the division considerably. Rosa could potentially be a star.

Apparently the tooth and nail match is going to be one of those pre-recorded cinematic matches. I'm a bit over this trend already but will hold my judgement until we see it. Apparently it's going to be based at Britt's dentistry so that could be fun?

That might be for the best. They both have some good personality to their character and both aren't good in the ring. And as long as this feud has been going on it needs a decent end. And a bad normal match between those two won't have done it.

AEW just announced that the Big Swole/Britt Baker Tooth & Nail match has been moved from the Buy-In preshow, to the All Out show proper.

You got to give the lad credit to listening to people

Yeah.  I struggled to find anything better than that.  I want the NWA and AEW to work together more, so we can have more matches like that.

Maybe one of the Sasha vs Asuka ppv matches, but the first one was marred by the overbooked finish, and the summerslam one was a bit too short. 

One of the things I like about the good AEW matches (basically any Shida PPV match) is that they don't feel as formulaic as many WWE matches . There's less of a set structure where the babyface starts out on top ,  then the Heel dominates, and then tehy go to the finishing stretch. Matches like Shida/Rosa are much more back and forth and reminiscent of the takeover matches from the 4HW NXT days, or the Io vs Candice takeover match from last year.  

I thought it was good, not great. Beginning of the match too choreographed for me. I also don't like how slow they were running the ropes, it just makes the Irish Whip look even more preposterous than it already is. Got interesting toward the end but I think the match with Serena was better, certainly more up my alley.

Agree with Todd. As good as Shida is, she is not especially fluid from an athletic perspective, so a lot of the faster sequences they attempted came across as sloppy. Plus the match had no real story to it. They were just hitting moves at random but not selling very well. Like that one spot where Rosa was on the second rope, Shida had just took a lot of offense but randomly pops up and hits a superplex.

Really like both women, but I don't think they had the best chemistry. Rosa vs Deeb was a lot better.

This is actually the first time I've seen Thunder Rosa lose. She's been portrayed as this freelancer who beats everybody and wins everything, so this is a huge boost to Shida's credibility.

Yeah I half expected to come in here and defend Dex's take but I actually found myself a little bit disappointed by that. I don't think it was as good as Rosa's matches with Allysin Kay in the NWA, or Shida's matches with Nyla or Penelope, and definitely not as good as Deonna vs Jordynne which is my favourite match of the year.

I agree with the guys saying that there seemed to be a lack of chemistry, a number of spots weren't particularly well executed. I guess the storyline was that Rosa had done her research and had counters ready for some of Shida's offence (like beating her to the chair jump) but Shida had just as many counters and no-sells so it didn't really come across. They did some nice stuff for sure (the Meteora on the outside was nasty looking spot, if a little dangerous close to the steps like that) but it just didn't all come together as it might have.

Watching this a second time I can see some of the complaints about the lack of chemistry, and some of the attempted fast parts at the beginning of the match were a little slow and it looked like they were just waiting to hit their spots. I still liked it overall but it's probably not my favorite of the year after a second viewing and some distance.

Speaking of Anna Jay. On dark she finished off heather monroe with the same chokehold that she put brandi in the end of dynamite a few weeks ago. Tax almost called it the katahajime. And on Twitter I think Anna Jay has been calling out brandi. Even if the match is garbage, I look forward to Anna jay choking out brandi in the ring.

So Tay vs Nyla was decent. Tay continues to show some potential but I think some of her offense is a little too fancy/contrived. Not a major issue though. Nyla really doesn't need Vickie however.

So I'm happy that Rosa is sticking around for at least a little while longer, but unless I missed something they're just sticking her out there with Ivelisse next week with no build? a) why is a title match just randomly happening and b) why does Ivelisse appear once everyone month or two in a relatively meaningful match but has no buildup or character?

Got to agree that Vickie has completely killed the interest that I had in Nyla. She felt fresh and different but that's largely disappeared under Vickie's played out act. There isn't really another option for Shida to face though.

Whoever said that the way they are presenting them on bte doesn't understand sublety of character. John silver and Alex Reynolds are fucking great. They are so insecure and unsure of themselves they are trying so hard to impress their boss and keep doing so even though they get treated like shit. And of course they would because weal kindled failures is exactly who uno was preaching to in the beginning. And who says evil factions can't have some fun

Sonny Kiss has something, she may be a spotfest(Same issue with Ford) but Sonny can go. A lot of athleticism and personality. Gave Jericho a run for his money. Would seriously like to see her get a singles run.

Kiss is awful IMO. Not only does her stuff not look like it hurts, it actually looks like it's not supposed to hurt.
