Vickie Guerrero is just abysmal. The division is not in a great place right now. Has the division ever been in an overly great place? I would say talent wise it is in one of it better spots but booking company wide is horrible.
Britt is really over and usually is on every show which is a lot better then the times theyseemed to forget about Shida for weeks on end. And almost zero feuds for that long reign. They do need to let more of the women talk on Dynamite or Rampage because most don't get a chance to show much personality besides Britt.

Hope Rebel is alright, heard she suffered a non-contact injury last night. She can still do her gimmick even if on crutches. That power bomb from Nyla Rose on Britt Baker made absolutely no sense though, that was the same power bomb she threw on the 3rd rope on Leyla Hirsch that still made my back cringe watching the impact. I don't think Hirsch has wrestled since.

It was decent imo at the start of the year through the no 1 contender tourney and the lights out match with Rosa and Britt , things seemed like they were turning the corner a bit, but then things took a dive again the past month or so.

Kilynn vs Tay on Dark tonight was actually pretty good and was given decent time by Dark standards. I would have had the time given to the Abadon and Kriss squashes be given to Velvet vs Asshley Vox however which was fun but far too short.

Ripped this from Wreddit - really what the fuck are they doing? Time since last appearance on Dynamite:
Hikaru Shida: May 28 (40 days) Serena Deeb: May 19 (49 days) Thunder Rosa: May 12 (56 days) Tay Conti: April 21 (77 days) Riho: February 17 (140 days) Abadon: January 6 (182 days)
Rosa has made one Dynamite appearance since the unsanctioned match. What the actual?

Honestly, at this moment, I wouldn't mind if Rosa is the person to beat Britt. Baker cuts a cocky promo, proclaiming she's defeated everybody in her path. Than BOOM! Thunder strikes!

What the actual? One of the reasons I ranked AEW women's division last in the other thread. That has to be some of the worst booking in any women's division. And you have four former champions on that list.

I'm just waiting for Jade to win the belt. She is money. Strap the rocket to her, brother.
Also, yeah, all of these women need more TV time, Jesus. Hopefully Rampage will help with that?

Jade is injured apparently, hence why she's only been in segments recently.
Tonight's match was the perfect encapsulation of the division - Britt is over like crazy and is at true top star level, but as the only woman they've invested any time and character development in she has no viable challengers. The match was quite poor, Baker isn't close to the level of someone you can rely on to carry a match, she really needs a lot of bells and whistles to hide her weaknesses. Nyla shows moments of impressive athleticism, but she's still struggling with consistency and execution. Occasionally she'll have a good night and you'll think she's improved but then the next time it will be like tonight with a lot of sloppiness and a lack of cardio.

The first AEW women's championship for a long time in front of a live crowd was, unfortunately, a flop. It's a shame because I thought they laid out a really good match with some great sequences and near falls. Unfortunately the execution for most of the sequences ranged from bad to terrible. Nyla Rose is big and she has great offense, but lacks that ability to make a smaller woman's offense look good as Awesome Kong and others did so well. To reinforce this Baker has many upsides but her move execution generally isn't forceful or technical enough to look convincing against a bigger opponent. Finally, as @admin said, neither really have that ring general ability to fully lead a match and improvise when something doesn't quite go to plan. It's a shame because I thought their previous match in the women's tournament was pretty good, but they weren't able to come close to replicating that. Gotta say that Britt trying the Eddie lie-cheat-steal stunt (to a huge pop) then Vickie Guerrero foiling it by distracting the ref giving Nyla time to do her own version was a genius spot. Kudos to whoever thought that one up.

I will say something good first the amount of promo time they give Britt really helps make it seem like they are focusing on the division more. But really they need to give some of the other women time to establish some character as well to make you care about them. The crowd didn't care one way or another about Nyla. She could have been one of their enhancement talents and got a better reactions. I personally couldn't tell you how Penelope sounds since she rarely talks. Has Kris Statlander ever spoke on Dynamite? The match was what I expect from a Britt match when Thunder Rosa or Serena isn't carrying it. But really Britt doesn't have to be better she already has what you need to be a mega star in wrestling great on the mic decent in the ring will get you farther then great in the ring and decent on the mic. Kudos to whoever thought that one up. I thought the spot was clever for Britt but not so much for Nyla. Because if the ref behaved like a normal ref Nyla would have won by DQ which would have done nothing for her. But even if the ref saw an actually belt shot they still wouldn't DQ anyone because they rarely DQ anyone in AEW.

Good stuff on the Darks this week. Tay and Kris did some fun teamwork in their tag match. It was nice to see Madi return after her injury.
Both debutants Alejandra Lion and Myka Madrid looked perfectly solid. The depth out there these days is so impressive.
Red Velvet has a new(?) finisher - a pretty innovative combination of two staples of women's wrestling, the scissors kick and Overdrive.
Big Swole and Diamante had a decent match featuring some nice counter sequences. Diamante cheated to win so there will likely be a return match.
Unfortunately Dynamite again only has the one women's match added last minute - Rosa vs Julia which is likely just a vehicle to restart Rosa vs Britt.

So Britt's injured (again!!) which looks like it's going to force their hand to push someone else. Who are we predicting joins her and Rebel as the third member of their team and occupy Rosa for the short term?

Though with the working relationship with impact Grace would work there. Could play with faxt she is/was a teacher.

Red Velvet is really natural on the mic. Hopefully the title match on Rampage is a sign of things to come from that program having a big focus on the women as has been indicated.

Interesting to see Zeda Zhang from the first MYC pop up for the first time in a while on Dark tonight. She's barely wrestled in the last couple of years so it wasn't a great surprise that her match (even in there with Rosa) wasn't particularly smooth. We'll see if she gets another shot in the future...

The match will probably be the opening and the main reason they probably are doing it is because it Britt's hometown.
The reason I don't have much hope because this match came out of no where and makes no sense booking wise. Red Velvet was last seen losing to Jade for weeks on Dynamite and is rank 3rd in the division. Thunder Rosa is the number one contender and was last seen beating Britt on Dynamite. And when Britt wanted a shot at the champion she was made to grind wins to get the number 1 spot first. She should had told Red Velvet to do the same. Faces should be the ones that go the hardest route and heels are suppose to take the short cuts not the other way around.
Disclaimer: I am not counting the random times they appeared to fight enhancement talent on Dynamite.

They've announced it will be the main event of Rampage which is a pretty big deal. I agree with you to a certain extent - but it's not like Velvet hasn't been racking up the wins, she has seven wins across the past five weeks on Dark & Elevation - and was also victorious in her last Dynamite match against Bunny. They also acknowledged her not necessarily being the next in line for a title shot in the promo segment - Britt happy to accept an "easy" title defence on her home turf after what happened in their last match together. After defeating Nyla in pretty quick fashion tonight it looks like Kris will face Britt in the title match at All Out.

After defeating Nyla in pretty quick fashion tonight it looks like Kris will face Britt in the title match at All Out. Yeah after watching Dynamite I realized how wrong I was. Britt gets the main event which is well deserved with how over she is now. But that got me thinking about an old announcement they made about how over you are will determine your position on the card. She atleast to me seems more over then the Elite members so she probably should get the main event at All Out.
And in my disclaimer that why I used the word enhancement talent instead of dark jobbers to include the bunny. She almost never beats anyone besides enhancement talent and probably would be considered the bottom rung of all the women signed to AEW.
Yeah I noticed Kris was number 2 other day and 12 and 0 when trying to figure out how Red Velvet jumped the line past her and Thunder Rosa.
Red Velvet has been in some big time slots for being a lot newer than most of the other women on the roster. And I don't know who but I got a feeling some new woman will debut at the end of Rampage.

They haven't mentioned it in a couple of weeks so it might have been dropped (and I guess Britt's injury wasn't as bad as they first thought?) but we're still waiting on the new member of her team aren't we?

So Britt vs Velvet was solid, but I'm not sure of the quality I'd expect from the main event of the first episode of a new show. Jamie Hayter is a nice addition to the roster thogh.
